Pushy and sexist

by Berlynn on 03/15/2021

If you are a female, it's hard to get taken seriously and they kept trying to sell me unnecessary vanity type objects. Would not recommend.

Good Prices & Fair Service

by stefsommers on 08/16/2020

First off Courtesy gave me the best offer after sending the same email to 6 Toyota dealerships in driving distance. Chris and Dan (Sales manager) were very helpful with looking over my trade ins through emails and pictures. This was in the peak of Covid time. That part went very smooth. We had a few minor issues during the sale. Chris had a family emergency and bailed without a word to anybody. When I came back with my second trade he was nowhere to be found and Dan took control. My truck box was supposed to be installed in the new truck. The tech wouldn't do it until it was empty. Nobody bothered to tell me this till it was time to drive the truck home. Dan and I had to do that ourselves. It was mounted half ass by the tech and not at all right. On my drive home from Brandon to St Petersburg the tire sensor light came on. I contacted Chris and came back a few days later to fix the sensors and install the box correctly. They reset the light and said the box was done. On my way home again the tire light came on. I called Chris again and he said he would talk to the tech and get back to me. I brought it back the following Monday and they changed all 4 sensors and finally installed the box right the 3rd time Amorette my service manager said. On my way home the light came on again and I was about to loose my mind. Again I called Amorette and brought the truck back the 4th time and they put me in a loaner and kept the truck for 3 days. They said it was fixed and I drove back the 35 minutes to Brandon to swap the loaner for my new truck. On the way home the light tripped again for the 5th time yea you are reading this right. Here we go again. I called and Amorette said they would have to contact Toyota and have the truck back for a while. I went back for the 5th time and swapped my new truck for a loaner again. After the tech and Toyota spoke they finally figured out it would need a angled sensor for the computer the read the sensors. It was finally fixed and i went back for my new truck for the final time to bring it home. Once home I noticed they installed a new nobby tire on one of my wheels. My other 3 tires are performance all season radials. So I called Amorette and she said one of my tires had a screw in the sidewall so they replaced it. I said it's not a good match with the other 3 and wanted something else to match the others. She said no problem and ordered my a new performance tire to match the others. Three days later it came in and I scheduled to come get it swapped out. Went back and waited 2.5 hours only to walk outside to leave and noticed they ordered a bigger nobby tire and installed it on my truck. At this point Sara was helping me this day and said she screwed up and ordered the wrong tire. My question is how did the tire tech not notice and question that? They replaced the first wrong tire back on my truck and 3 hours later I was driving back home. Amorette text and said the new tire is here with pictures and bring the truck back to get it installed. So in the month since I bought my truck. I have sat in the service area 5 times for 2.5 hours or more each visit. They kept my truck in service for a total of 14 days. All said and done my brand new truck has 800+ miles from dealing with all this and I may have put maybe 150 of them on it during the 14 days it's been in my driveway. Some positives, they filled up my gas tank 3 times during all this, threw in all weather floor mats, and gave me a gift certificate of $250 towards future service.

Sold me a lemon

by phaser2 on 12/21/2018

I bought a nice looking 2007 Prius. Deal included installing a back up camera and fix an engine light. The camera install took over a week and I had to call, email and finally go down for a service date. Engine light stayed off for a day and then came back on. Took car back in and was told it may need $2k repair at my expense but they would get back to me. It's been 5 days now and no car. Zack the sales manager has the keys apparently but won't respond. I asked to return the car for another one and still no reply. The general manager is on vacation until 12/26. Horrible way to treat a customer who paid cash.

I was lied to by sales, director denies liability

by CavemanCarl on 11/13/2016

I purchased a new 2016 Toyota Tundra crewmax 4x4. I bought my truck primarily to pull our rather large boat around to different states and areas to experience the lakes and waterways as far as 2000mi round trip. Having navigation was a high priority because turning around on small country roads or getting lost are not options. I was lead to believe by the salesmen (there were many due to quitting) that my navigation was a true gps navigation. When towing our boat to an area unknown in South Carolina, we got lost due to losing cell service causing the navigation to just stop. We didn't know the point at which it stoped guiding us so we didn't know where to go back to. We had nothing as a back up because we were using our only real navigation source our cell. In an attempt to fix this problem I reached out to the director over the dealership and was told the only way to fix this was to buy another new truck for more money. I'm not interested in paying more when I just bought this one. I gave them plenty of chances to make this right. They were clear to me it was not their problem. If you are wondering why we don't just get a dash mount gps? Its because my brother had one on his dash/windshield, was rear ended by a person texting, and gave him a severe head injury. So now we are forced to sell our boat. My wife is due for a new vehicle this year and we are so upset over this, we will NOT be going to "Courtesy Toyota" due to not taking responsibility for their lies.

No pressure sale.

by min7854 on 11/30/2015

Did some research online for my desired vehicle. Found what I wanted at Courtesy Toyota, Brandon. Visited the dealership, and located "my" SUV, test drove it and loved it. Time constraints made it impossible for me to complete the sale that day, but my salesmen was very nice and we kept in contact for several days until I could return. I am now enjoying my new vehicle and was completely satisfied with all the folks that helped to finalize the transaction. I was comfortable and not pressured to buy something that I did not want. I will surely return to Courtesy Toyota of Brandon for my next purchase.

Worst Experience Ever

by va15gal on 08/18/2015

This review is with my experience with Courtsey Hyndai. 1. Inexperienced Sales Associate. Did not know the vehicle or where it was located on the property, advised me options and promised options that were not available on my vehicle. Lost my orginal tag, placed another owners orginal tag on my new car so I was sent home on a fraudulent tag. Called the GM to complain, he did not return my call or answer to my concerns and email. The car arrived damaged and with only 1 set of keys. Promised overnight delivery of keys, I am still waiting. Sent back and forth multiple times with a loaner with no gas. Not even reimbursed for my multiple trips or gas. Worst experience ever and no offer to compensate or earn my respect back for this dealership. It is why the car business has the low reputation it has. Very poor customer service.

Wasted my time

by tvan15 on 04/07/2015

Set an appointment up to come and test drive a 2015 Toyota Highlander Limited or XLE. Received an email the day of from the person we set up the appointment confirming it. When I showed up, the person we set up the appointment with was not there. Another person tried to help us but informed us they did not have any XLEs or Limiteds in stock. I was frustrated at having my time wasted on an appointment to see a car they did not have, so moved on to go visit another Toyota dealer who did have what I wanted to see in stock. The person who helped us did say he wanted to win our business so to give him a chance after visiting the other dealer. That Friday, a Limited did show up on this dealers website. I called and asked him about it, but he said the car was not actually on the lot, but he would walk the lot to see what was there and get back to me. He finally did get back to me on Sunday (to tell me they didn't have what I wanted), but by that time I had already purchased from the other, more competent dealer.

Classic bait and switch

by dedoman on 03/01/2015

I never thought I would be writing a review, but I felt that strongly about you being forward of this dealership. I got the “price Promise” from Edmunds and was promptly called by this dealership and several others. I chose this location for the price and the ongoing communication about the vehicle we were working a deal on for 3 days: 2015 Toyota Highlander XLE for $34,563, “your savings $3,710. Stock# FS069774. “Your Offer Certificate for 2015 Toyota Highlander (Confirmation # 9774KMMC0226)” I was negotiating this deal for my parents, who had a trade and I did not want them to get taken advantage of, with overpricing etc. Trade numbers were discussed, VIN numbers given, buyers order written… as much as possible was taken care of over the 3 days to secure the deal. The night before I wrote the sales person to confirm all was well, I was sending them up. The day of, I called the sales person to confirm all was well… I was sending parents. All was allegedly well. 2 hours prior to them hitting the road to complete the deal.. you know the story. They arrive and as they meet the sales person, they are advised that the vehicle we were negotiating on.. Guess what.. was sold… I was told this and I immediately called the dealership and spoke with the sales manager Randy Felice. After I advised him of the prior and told him this appeared to be a classic “bait and switch” he has the nerve to ask me what that is ?! Realizing this was not going well, I asked him to do a deal with another veh. As comparably equipped as possible. While working the numbers again, and after 2 hours trying to resolve, he tells my parents that veh. Was also sold. After attempting to corner him with a dealer trade option for a comparably equipped veh. He advised he couldn't do that over the weekend. He came up with every excuse not to sell that veh. For the amount they offered via the Edmunds price promise. Unfortunately this dealership lived up to every bad reputation a dealership has. I have experience buying vehicles, I had the “Manheim” auction report, and had a very realistic number on the trade. They offered 2K less than they offered initially, by the way on the trade. Do yourself a favor, save time, energy and frustration and stay away from this dealership. This is the only review I have written on a dealership, but I felt that compelled, to waste even more time on this event… Thanks Kevin

Extremely Rude!

by wjrobins on 11/03/2014

When shopping for cars, I narrowed my test drives down to 3 different cars, one of which was the Toyota Camry. I went to their dealership on SR 60 since it was the closest to where I live. I walked up to the door and came to greet me, he asked me, “What are you in for today?” I said, “I would like to test drive a Toyota Camry LE.” He said Ok and started walking with me to the parking lot to find one to drive. He asked me if I was test driving any other cars, I told him yes, to which he asked which cars I was trying out. I told him, “I am here to check out the Toyota, if you sell me on this car, I will choose it” He said, “So you aren’t going to tell me the other cars you are testing out” I just told him to not worry about the other cars, I wanted to see if I liked the Camry the best. At this point, without saying anything, he just turned a 180 and started walking back towards the building. He then proceeded to shout back to me that he is going to go get someone else to talk to me. Rude! I then asked to speak to his manager which came out with another sales associate along with the previous employee and tried to get me with that sales associate, but I told him that the first employee just made sure I would not buy there. That is when the manager looked at his employees and said, “Alright well lets go inside.” If they don’t care about future customers, just think about how bad they will be if you get your maintenance done there. Stay away from this place, they have no respect. They are the ones that give dealerships bad names. Because of this I never ended up test driving the Camry, I tested the other two cars and bought one 2 weeks after that.

Very satisfied with Scotty H's professional conduct

by manny74 on 05/14/2014

I had a bad experience at a different dealership. So I spoke with Scotty over the phone and told what exactly I was looking for. He called me back within 10 min and we had a deal. He was very patient and professional and I got a very good deal on price. With a bad experience at another dealership I didn't want to go to any dealership. If it wasn't for Scotty I wouldn't have bought the car from Courtesy. The finance manager was very professional very straight I was in an doubt in less than 2 hours with a new car. They let me take the car while wait for my bank to send the check for vehicle purchase.

They do not keep their promise after making a deposits

by renjanj on 07/31/2013

I just wanted to share a very bad experience I had with Courtesy Toyota. Last week I came to Courtesy Toyota with a saving certificate from consumerreports.com. They offered me a Sienna XLE with Navigation package for $ 31,108.00 and asked me to deposit $200.00 so that I can pick the van today. I paid $200.00 and got the confirmation email for the price estimate. Today when I went to buy the van, they told me I will have to pay $1700.00 over the promised price to get the van. I never seen a dealer losing their credibility like this.

BEWARE OF THE [non-permissible content removed]

by mar4u on 08/15/2012

Bought a used vehicle was told the car was in mint condition that it had passed all the inspection and it didn't have any mechanical problems. Two hours after I left the lot, I noticed a noise took the car to get checked the compressor was diagnosed as being defective. Immediately I called the sales person and he asked me to come in on Monday (this was a Saturday) was given the run around spoke with every manager including the service manager (arrogant person that spoke down to my son and me like if we were idiots that didn't know anything). To make a long story short ended up returning the vehicle because they didn't want to invest anymore money on the vehicle for the price they sold it. They are like [non-permissible content removed] ready to take down the innocent customers.

My experience at Courtesy Toyota of Brandon could not have been better!

by mlarosa on 04/28/2012

I have to say Courtesy Toyota of Brandon was outstanding in every way. I called ahead and said I was concerned about how I would be viewed/treated as an older female consumer and did not want a negative experience. I could not have rec'd a better welcome w/o any high pressure sales and in a professional yet friendly way. I was greeted by the Sales manager and GM, who assured me of a positive experience. That doesn't happen every day! From Todd, my salesman, to Alex, the financial person, I was treated w/courtesy and respect every step of the way. I got an excellent trade-in price on my Saturn, great % rate, and left feeling like a truly valued customer. I will admit I had doubts about this dealership after reading reviews on Edmonds before I went. That prompted my phone call prior to my visit.I can tell you I highly recommend this dealership and have already recommended it to friends and family. Courtesy Toyota Scion of Brandon delivers...and with courtesy. Their name is well earned.

Internet Sales Games

by mikisa on 07/06/2011

I emailed the internet sales rep to ask for his best price on a 2002 SLK. He declined but asked me to make an offer. I did but never received a "Yes/No" response, just what I perceived to be a clarification of my offer followed by several exclamation points. Unaccustomed to what must have been sales-department sarcasm, I continued the negotiation but heard nothing for a day or two. When "Rick" finally sent a follow-up email, It was if we had never corresponded! I had sent an email with another question about a huge jump in the odometer readings listed in the CarFax report but this was completely ignored by Rick and any one else who may have been signing on as him. I have queried dealers and individuals over the years and appreciate the prompt and candid exchange of information that should be the norm. Unfortunately, at Courtesy Toyota it's the same games that have plagued this market since the beginning. In the "internet" age, car sales, especially used car sales, must learn to respond more professionally to buyers. Give us a clear quote for the vehicle, disclose the $ add-ons and answer any questions that they can about the vehicle's history. Sales managers who recognize these simple facts will thrive. Those who prefer the old "business as usual" will not.

BEWARE!! Bait and Switch

by toyota4me1 on 09/19/2010

Walked into the finance office to sign paperwork. I verified the monthly payment before starting to sign. I signed a few documents and realized that I hadn't seen the final sale agreement yet. I asked, again, about the monthly payment and was given a higher number! When I said that was NOT the figure agreed on, he changed the number in the computer and said, "You can't blame them for trying." On the way out of the showroom I brought this to the attention of the sales manger - his response, "Have a nice life!" BEWARE!! In fact, be safe and just don't go there. There are much better dealers in Tampa Bay!!!!
