  • The nightmare with Auburn VW of Washington

1 out of 5 starsby Rudy on 08/21/2024

I understand the rule is "buyer beware" when purchasing autos online but dealing with AuburnVW of Washington was a nightmare. On July 2,2024 I contacted Auburn VW regarding an Audi, Andrew a sales rep, quickly call me back and sent pics and a Car-Fax. We made a deal for it on July 3rd and I gave them a deposit. I flew out from California on July 5th and arrived at the dealership expecting to spend an hour doing paper work. Three hours later I was told I needed to had brought a bill to verify my address. They never explain this to me and I didn't understand why it was necessary as I was paying cash for the car. Finally, I was on my way home. I made it as far as Southerlin, Oregon. before I had issues with the tires. I was force to spend the night there and purchased 4 new tires the next day, Auburn never informed me that there was less than 15% thread left on the tires. July 6 back on the road, I manage to get a day of driving before a loud noice came from the car. I stopped to look, and I saw the undercarriage cover had come loose and was dragging. I try to remove it but with no tools all I accomplish was to burn my hand. Needless to say it had disintegrated during the rest of my 1000 mile drive home. On July 9th Andrew from Auburn VW called for a followup, I explain the issues with the car, he had no comment for me. But the problem with the purchased from Auburn VW wasn't over. A week later California DMV informed me I needed to provide the tittle to register the car. I called Auburn VW about the tittle and left messages with Andrew, finance dept and finally the dealer who transfer me to a tittle officer I left two massages on two different numbers for her. No one contacted me. Another week had pass and by July 22nd I still had not heard from the tittle dept, I then left voice message in the morning, later that afternoon I called back spoke with Oscar the sales dept manager, he explain that the tittle dept will contact me. Nearly 3 more weeks passed, and despite my continuing to leave voice messages, no one called me back. Finally, on August 13, Auburn VW tittle dept notify me that the tittle had been sent, and I would be getting an email with a tracking number on that day. That email never arrived so I called that evening and left another voice mail, witch went unanswered. The tittle arrive the next day with a sticky note apologizing for the delay and blaming the prior lien company from th prior owner for holding up the release of the tittle. My question is: why did Auburn VW sell me a car if they didn't have the tittle? Furthermore, why didn't someone just call me, explain the situation versus avoiding me and causing me to stress over the situation. The lack of communication was just infuriating. Based on my experience with them, I believe that once Auburn VW of Washington got my money for the purchase, they stooped being helpful and could careless about me as there customer. Andrew, their sales rep, aldo knew that I would be driving this car over 1000 miles back to California, but it appears to me that the vehicle was never inspected or else the issues with the tires and undercarriage cover would have been apparent and handled. I have purchased 6 other vehicle from other out-of-state dealers, and those deals went smoothly, unlike the experience with Auburn VW of Washington which was one of the biggest headaches I have experience in my car buying life time.
