  • Best Part of the Prime Motors Experience -- Its Website!

1 out of 5 starsby Professional Buyer on 05/31/2025

Just visited Prime Motors on Saturday, May 31, 2025. I did see their poor reviews before my visit, but I did not believe that any business could be that bad, so I decided to check Prime Motors out for myself. When I arrived, the parking lot was chaos. Once parked, an associated hovered giving me just enough room to exit my car. He asked if I had an appointment, and I responded "no." I told him that I wanted to see the 2009 Jaguar XKR convertible listed on the Prime Motors website this morning. He searched his mobile device and then told me that they don't have that car anymore. He offered to show me similar vehicles, but I did not see them on the lot. (This gives credibility to the "bait and switch" accusation in a previous post). He did mention that they have four lots, but he had already lost my trust and the chaos made me more certain that I wanted to leave. Giving the benefit of the doubt, many high volume dealers struggle to keep their websites current. Besides it's not exactly in their interest to remove the sexiest cars from the web inventories...it draws the customers...I don't think that Prime Motors is the only dealer guilty of being a little slow updating its website. I dismissed the associate and looked around on my own. They have a moderate sized inventory (easily70 cars) and many are sexy sports cars or luxury performance sedans. There was no pricing posted on the vehicles that I saw, so you will need to talk to one of their associates. I left after 15 minutes and felt that it was a big waste of time. If you find a car with Prime Motors, and you really have to have it, I would recommend the following: (1) Make sure that no one else has a comparable vehicle. (2) Call and make an appointment. (3) Get Prime Motors to agree to an out the door price in an email. Your email could provide evidence that Prime Motors has defrauded you (if you were treated like the previous poster was treated). (4) If they falter on number 3, contact the Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Virginia, Jason Miyares. We're in an election year, so your complaint might get traction and Miyares is focused on law enforcement. NOTE: I am not an attorney, and I am not giving legal advice. I am giving advice on being a smart buyer. Personally, I have no intention of ever dealing with Prime Motors.

These people are absolutely [non-permissible content removed]. They bait you in with reasonable prices, then pull a bait and switch with the number's. The owener train to get me to pay $5,900. Over their own advertised price that is in writing . All of the sales people are extremely dishonest !!! Don’t by sucked in. Their state Attorneys Generals Office really needs to do something about them. Sooner rather than latter!!
  • Scam Fees to raise the price

I contacted the salesman there Safi, and wanted to buy the car (a 2007 Corvette) as an out of state buyer. The price listed was $18450. He sounded enthusiastic at first. I asked about financing and he said they would get me approved 100% no problem. This was because they have 40 lenders that they work with.I gave them all of my information and I filled out a loan application. My credit was in the good range and I would put $4000 down on the car and borrow $14450. WHen they came back they said only one lender would touch me because the car is too old (a 2007 with 59000 miles). They said no lender would loan on that old of a car. He gave me a load approval from is 1 lendeer for 15.9% and the payments would be over $500 a month. There are plenty of lenders that cater to sports, classic and vintage cars. I had already done a loan with J.J. Best Banc who will loan on all sports cars and luxury cars. They came back with an immediate approval for me with the terms being 10.2% and payments of $283 a month. I sent the contact info for the lender and the seller back and forth so the check could be cut. When Prime Motors sent the bill of sale to me they listed the car price at $19,000 (not the advertised $18450. Then added $1224 for state sales tax that they should not be charging as an out of state sale (I have to pay the sales tax when I title it in MO.) Then an $85 registration fee, again I am not registering it in VA so they shouldn't charge that, then the $20 online filing fee they won't be filing for out of state registration. There was the %57.46 for their "Dealer Business License Fee" No idea why I should pay for their business license. and then the $15 title fee I would be glad to pay. Then it got interesting........ Service contract Tax $44.85, Service Contract $1495.00, I didn't ask nor did I want any service contract, but that was mandatory. Then they had a blank like below it with a $995.00 fee they wouldn't explain. When the fees were all added up the Bill of sale was $5982 over the list price of the car! They wanted me to pay $24432.24 for the car that was listed for $18,450.00. I explained to them that I was approved fro $14450.00 and had $4000 for a down payment and would like to work with them to come to a reasonable price and resolution. Then answer I got was this: "We already have the vehicle 4800 below the market value. We absolutely cannot go any lower than that. We anticipated you it would be for you to get financing for this car outside of us but we tired our best to have you go with one of our banks." So the bottom line is they want to hook you up with their 1 bank for 16% interest and if you bring your own financing they raise the price of the vehicle with bogus fees by $6000. When I woke up this morning I was on top of the world having found my dream car and knowing I could get financed. I was looking at flights to go drive it home. Then the truth came out and I feel sad and angry with them for wasting my time and having faith in a car sales. They got that reputation al long time ago and this is why they got it. Buyers beware of this very shady business.
