Deceptive behavior
by JR on 07/10/2020I encourage anyone that has issues with financing at DON MCGILL TOYOTA OF KATY to write a letter to the Attorney General, District Attorney and Toyota Corporate along with several other consumer protection agencies. These deceptive and… fraudulent practices need to stop! My husband and I made an appointment to test drive a white Toyota Hybrid Highlander with Sami Faraj at Don McGill Toyota of Katy on May 22, 2020. I had discovered the car online and wanted to take it for a test drive. We got there and spoke with our salesman and he pulled a car around similar to the one we wanted. He said the one we came in for was sold. Classic bait and switch. The car he brought was more expensive. They wouldn’t come down on the sticker price at all, because apparently they weren’t getting any new inventory due to COVID-19. Long story short our sticker came with APEX and Blue Steel protection for 1 year. The Salesman and the Finance Manager, Felipe Rodriquez both mentioned these coverage’s to us and that our car came with them. The Finance Manager did his spill about warranties, and we said we didn’t want any of them. He said with our investment we should definitely get GAP and the extended warranty. We agreed to both of these warranties. The Finance Manager then said he would throw in the tire and wheel warranty for free because we were “such good people”. Well, thanks we thought that was really nice. We signed the electronic forms on his desk screen and he gave us our USB port and we left in our new 2020 Highlander Hybrid Limited SUV. A few days later I plugged in the USB port and looked over the documents and low and behold we were charged for several warranties that we didn’t ask for. The Sales Manager upgraded our APEX to 5 years for an additional $899. Our sticker price already had Apex for 1 year at $595. He also added Blue Steel for 3 years for $199 which we already had included in our sticker price for $0 for 1 year. He charged us for Tire and Wheel at $638 after he said he was going to throw that in for free. They also charged us $250 OVER the bottom sticker price. We also notice that the original sticker of the car had Fabric and Paint Protection, but he extra Dealer add on sticker also had it included for an additional $349. When it was all said and done we were overcharged by $2335!!!!!!!!! Now we know why our Finance Manager wanted to rush us signing the documents and get us out of the room. I contacted my Sales Rep and asked for him to have the Finance Manager call me that I needed him to clarify a few questions I had on the paperwork. Needless to say he never called me back. I went up to the dealership a few days later and of course my Finance Manager was off that day so I spoke with someone else. He gave me the run around and made me feel like I didn’t understand the contact even though he did not go over the charges line by line with me. The desk manager came in and said they would have to cut a check to the lien holder for the $250 overage on the sticker price. He said they would call me when the check was cut and send me a copy of it via email. Three weeks later I never heard a thing. I sent 3 emails to my Sales Rep asking for the status of the check. He finally reached me and said the check was cut and in our name. WHAT? The check was made out in our name? The Desk Manager Sigmund said that was not possible that it had to be made out to the lien holder. My husband and I have bought 11 new cars from several different dealerships (second one from this dealership) and we have NEVER had something like this happen. We felt comfortable thinking they wouldn’t be taking us for a ride. SHAME ON US. This dealership is so busy and they truly do not care about their clientele. I would not buy a car from them and If YOU DO take pictures of the sticker on the car and go over the Finance agreement line by line and ask questions. It’s your money they are taking and financing with interest. This dealership needs to be investigated.Thank you!

In my past experience with Lexus and Toyota dealers, we weren’t treated half decent and today I… was even hesitant considering any vehicle from a Toyota dealer. But Dustin went above and beyond for us. We truly appreciate him and his hospitality. Definitely will recommend him!Great staff nice and friendly all around

by TonyM on 01/11/2020I am looking at vehicles and stopped by to test drive a 4 Runner which is on my short list. It became a real ordeal to try and test drive a vehicle. My son also stopped by a few days ago to test drive a Corolla since his current lease is… up. He was asked if he was buying that day and when he said he had to drive a vehicle first, they flat outright told him that they wouldn't let him test drive the car. Needless to say that I was not able to test drive a vehicle either. Why would I go to the trouble of buying a vehicle from a dealer that makes it frustrating and a long process just to drive a vehicle. Test drove a vehicle at another Toyota dealer and I will probably purchase from them and Not Toyota of Katy.Willow Suliveras

A young gentleman so kind said, take all the time you need and i will be within reach when u are ready. First day i looked around, no luck. I told him what… i was looking for, he went above and beyond and got my family what we needed. I walked off with 3 cars, came back got 2 more cars later. As I was walking up to the dealership I was asked if I needed any help and they directed me to the front desk where I met Rosario Vasquez.… She is an internet representative I had talked to on the phone. She was very helpful and friendly. She introduced me to Austin Gilder a sales person. He was knowledgeable about the vehicles and helped me choose a car that was just right for me. :) He was friendly and a great person to work with. I also met David Estrada who is an assistant sales manager. He is outgoing and helpful in fixing one small issue. I really enjoyed the whole experience.Thanks to Josh Ajayi
