Bait and Switch -- Beware!
by Ethan on 08/18/2022I rarely post public reviews preferring to handle any feedback or praise directly with a business, but I had such a poor experience with Park Place Mercedes in Ft Worth that resulted in an unnecessary waste of time and a flagrant… representation of poor service and integrity – truly bait and switch. Earlier this week, I listed my 2021 Mercedes for sale on a couple of public sites and received interest from several private individuals. A few days after my listing, Oliver from Park Place Mercedes reached out to me through the Auto Trader website inquiring about my car and expressing strong interest in buying my particular model. After I told him I already had several inquiries and an offer, he asked if I would share the offer amount which I did. He then asked me if I would be open to a higher offer which he sent to me in a text message reflecting that the amount was the floor offer and the offer could potentially increase if I would bring the car into their Ft Worth store to view. I told him the floor offer wasn’t compelling enough for me to drive to Ft Worth (I live an hour away) and I’d accept the private party offer. He asked me to give him some time to talk to his manager, and I sent him additional photos and videos of my car including two minor wheel scuffs. The next morning the same sales rep reached out to me and said he had received permission from his manager to increase his floor offer. Again, he indicated that the offer could increase after they were able to view the car in person, but they would guarantee the floor offer sight unseen (all of this in writing). I told him I would bring the car to their store in Ft Worth with the understanding the floor offer was the minimum amount. I also told him my time was limited and to have everything ready which he confirmed after requesting a copy of my driver’s license. I convinced a friend to drive to Ft Worth to pick me up since I’d be selling the car and would need a ride back to my home. When I arrived at their store, the sale rep greeted me and told me they wanted to look at the car. The sales rep looked at the car and then had two other individuals look at and drive the car. After nearly an hour wait, the sales rep returned to let me know there was an unknown defect with a loose clip on my front bumper that needed to be replaced (would require 4 hours of labor he contended), and they were only willing to offer me an amount lower than the committed floor offer and lower than the private individual offer. When I mentioned that my car, a 2021 Mercedes, was under warranty and any defects would be covered, he ignored me and shrugged his shoulders. This is a Mercedes dealer, not to mention the same automotive group that I bought my vehicle. I immediately walked out of the store with not so much as an apology or explanation from the sales rep or his manager. I even texted the sales rep after I got home to express my frustration for wasting my time and received no acknowledgment or response. The fact that they proactively and diligently engaged me to buy my car and displayed such a lack of integrity and disregard of my time using such a foolish bait and switch tactics is appalling. I have bought several high-end automobiles from Sewell in the last couple of years, and I can emphatically say that the Park Place family of dealerships won’t even be a consideration for me in the future.DO NOT VISIT PARK PLACE MERCEDES!
by Monica on 07/05/2021If you want "Exceptional Customer Service" DO NOT VISIT PARK PLACE MERCEDES! Totally low-balled the trade, in a used car market where there is a huge inventory shortage, and didn't try on the financing at all. Just all-around laziness- and… when we didn't like the numbers they said, "That's the deal, if you don't like it you don't have to buy it. We have someone coming to pick up the same car later today." Just the all-around attitude and demeanor of all 3 people we spoke with was rude and unkind. If you want to work with a team that is in it for the low-hanging fruit - and won't work to get you a good deal, this is the place! Horrible experience!!
