  • BRAKE REPAIR

    I had my front brakes on our 2023 Traverse replaced ($600+) because there was a metal to metal grinding noise and saw that there was some grooving starting on one of the rotors. I paid ($30) to have the rear breaks inspected during the same visit. I received a video from the technician detailing that the front brake calipers were at 6mm and the rear calipers were at 8mm and all looked good with them. The next day a more severe (then what was heard from the front brakes) grinding noise started in the rear brakes. We don't live in NC but were here for a family medical emergency. Unfortunately, we cannot return to this dealership to address our concern with the technicians inspection because we have returned home.

    They have a new vehicle photo machine and now charge $165.99 for diagnostics. It used to be if you did the repair that charge was removed. Now it stays.Very, VEry, VERY expensive repair adder.

  • Bad experience

    Made an appointment but Sir Walter didn’t look at my car for an additional 8 days, then charged me the diagnostic charge of $165, plus $20 for “fees” plus tax for a total of $200 - and they didn’t even get a complete diagnosis “without taking the car apart”. I will go out of my way to NOT recommend Sir Walter Chevrolet.

    I have been servicing all my vehicles At Sir Walter Chevrolet for the last few years. I have never been disappointed and they have always taken care of me. They always go the extra mile to make sure I have been taken care of. I would recommend them to everyone.

  • Sales Dept is exceptional but the Service dept is one horrible experience

    We purchased our GMC Acadia from this dealership a year ago. We took it to get service Oil Change and Rotate tires. They put the lug nuts on too tight and warped my rotors. So I had to take it back to complain. They took a half of day to do a job that was maybe an hours worth of work. The next time I brought it back the steering was making a whining noise and it was leaking freon. I had to send them a picture of where for them to be able to diagnose it. They fixed the tank that they said was leaking but then charges me $130 diagnostic fee for them to look at the steering. They are in the same area and when speaking to Service Manager he stated it was because they found nothing wrong with the steering and they have to pay their technicians. So why am I not the one that was paid for the $130 fee on the leaking freon? Don't even waste your time, they will just say nothing is wrong even when the car is still under warranty and charge you for looking at it. I would not recommend taking your Chevy to this dealership. They only want to make money not take care of their customer or their customers experience. Please choose another one like Hendrick. That is where I had to make my appointment to get the steering fixed.

  • Quick and friendly service

    Came in for an oil change on a used vehicle I had bought recently. All the staff were very friendly. Only small gripes are that I had to wait a little longer than I was originally told (but that happens) and it did seem like everyone was just "going through the motions" to get folks in and out. Efficient, but could have been slightly more friendly. No real complaints though!

    I ran over something and had a leak in my tire. My awesome Traverse actually told me I was losing air thankfully, because I was on a headed out for a road trip and could have been stranded. I was treated so well as I waited for service. I was well informed of the issue, the waiting time, and the cost. As I waited I was treated so politely by everyone I can in contact with at Sir Walter Chevrolet. I was even given a snack and a soda! I call that great customer service! I was on my road trip in what seemed like no time at all, and have had no problems since! I am so glad I chose a dealership that truly cares about their customers! I will ALWAYS buy from Sir Walter Chevrolet in the future!

    My most recent visit was for service. Work was completed on time and I was notified promptly. The new waiting area is very pleasant, with natural daylighting and various types of seating. My two sons were excited by the Corvettes in the showroom, and a salesman took the time to let them sit in one and see the engine. I think you made two future customers! I've always had pleasant experiences with Sir Walter Chevrolet.

About our dealership

Sir Walter Chevrolet is a family-owned and operated dealership spanning four generations. We have called Raleigh home since 1928 (yes, nearly a Century!). In fact, Sir Walter Chevrolet was the very first Chevrolet dealership in Raleigh when we opened our doors in the Sir Walter Fire District on October 1st, 1928 (above, left). We moved to our current location at 8501 Glenwood Avenue in 1997 after spending 69 years in the heart of downtown Raleigh, an effort aimed at giving us the ability to serve more customers in the greater Raleigh community. We recently remodeled this facility to accommodate a 21st-century buying experience, including a state-of-the-art showroom and a completely upgraded waiting area for our service customers.
