I purchased a car from this dealership end of March 2023. It should be noted that between the car purchased & my writing of this review, the car while in my possession, has gained less than 5k miles; so it's been less than 1 full year & a very minimal amount of driving. In addition, I originate in Westchester so several dealerships to choose from between here & there, yet I chose one, a 3+ hr train ride from my house. December of 2023 my Certified PreOwned vehicle went into the shop to fix the fuel pump & rear differental. I contacted the selling dealership, & the gentlemen that I spoke with informed me that they couldn't assist me but I should contact Customer Service to request a goodwill credit, as the fuel pump wasn't covered under my CPO Warranty. That fix took roughly 3 weeks & cost a little over $2400. I received the car back at the end of December, still sensing that something was off by the way it started, but was assured it was 'normal' by the dealership. By the 2nd week of January, the car needed to go into the shop again because it would not start. I took it back to the dealership I got it fixed, thinking the issues were connected to what they just fixed, but as it turns out, the starter went bad. So the updated fixture was a starter replacement & 2 batteries, totaling $2500. It being January of 2024, the car has already entered the shop for 3 major issues (4 if you include that fact that both batteries needed to be replaced as well). Of course I, again, contact the dealership I purchased the car from to speak to someone about this, which included my sales person Catherine Mercado. She tells me what I already know, which is that the fixture is not covered under my CPO and that IF I were anyone were to help me at the dealership, it would be Anthony Capanelli (I should note that she claimed to not know his last name but his name and photo are posted on the website & he is the Manager of used car sales, which she said is the title of the person I would be looking to speak with). Since January 16th, I have called 9 times, I've been transferred to everyone except a used car manager. I've left several voice messages and at a point was told that I would get a call back from Micheal, a different manager. To date, I have not received not a call back from either of the people I was told would call me back. I even spoke to Paul, a manager in a different department, on two separate occasions; one in which he confirmed Anthony Capanelli would be the person to speak to and other asking him to ask Anthony to call me back. I've even sent Catherine Mercado a text message asking her to ask Anthony, again, to call me back, which received no reply. Oddly enough, when I purchased the car, they were having a promo that reduced the purchasing price for 'loyalty customers' (i.e, if you've purchased from them before) and this seems to be the service they would like people to be loyal to. To have to call on a consistent basis and not even recieve the courtesy of a call back is frustrating. This dealership does not stand behind the products that they sell at all. Even the service department sucks. You make an appointment for an oil change, arrive at your appointment time & you still wait for no less than 3 hours and there is no one to even offer a 'sorry for the wait'. I get that my current car situation is atypical but with the length of time, the miles driven, and the presented issues, I would've thought someone would've had decency to be courteous. All in all, I will 1000% never be back to this dealership and will advise all that I know to steer clear.

  • Buyer Beware

    1 out of 5 starsby Bill K on 01/14/2020

Very unethical. All kinds of fees. Look very carefully at both your loan and sales contract. If they told you that you must bank with their bank for a certain amount of time, like six months or else they will bill you extra, contact NYS Attorney Generals office for Suffolk County. Don't pay Doc Fee. Don't buy any extended warranty. Don't pay VSI. All are money makers for dealer and do nothing for you. Don't buy a car from here. Nothing is above board here. They operate by deception because if the light was shined on all of the real costs they would not be competitive. Most all car dealerships tell half truths but this place is the reason people hate buying a car, they are everything that is wrong with the process. Enjoy my $75 Security Dodge

  • Helped me when others turned their back

    5 out of 5 starsby Jpassa11 on 02/24/2018

This is the 7th car I've leased or purchased from dealerships and the people at Security are probably the nicest, most accommodating respectful I've ever delt with. They helped me move out of my lease as I was coming up on my mileage limit and helped me into purchasing another Jeep. Other Jeep dealers on the island wanted nothing to do with me and my lease but the people at Security were fantastic to me and I couldn't be happier.

  • [non-permissible content removed] not a Dealership! Go Elsewhere

1 out of 5 starsby LewisKopp on 06/17/2017

I write this review to help prevent the incredible disservice a person will likely receive if they do business with Security Jeep/Dodge. It's also important to know that I am a past customer of Security Jeep having purchased a new 2012 Jeep Liberty. This time around, I am in the market for a 2017 Wrangler Unlimited. I am trading in a 2012 Corvette Grand Sport Convertible 4LT Centennial edition. I did my homework on both the value of my trade according to Kelly Blue Book (avg. trade in 42k) and the price the Wrangler is selling for. In obtaining the value of my trade, I was accurate about the condition of the car which included needing four new tires. A set of tires is about $1500. To my surprise, Security Jeep only offered me $30,500. When I questioned the value and asked if they accounted for all of the options, they said they missed that it was a 4LT. As a result, they gave it a new value of $34,000. An hour later, working with a sales manager, they dropped the value to $32,000. I have since learned that many auto dealers pay for a service from Galves which is known to place valuations on vehicles significantly lower than companies like KBB and NADA. I decided to shop elsewhere as their offer was quite far off from the KBB valuation. I went to another dealer who offered $38K on my trade but did not have the Wrangler I was looking for. I decided to go back to the Kelly Blue Book website where I saw an option for an instant cash offer. I entered all of my car information and was presented with a $39,018 offer. Ironically, Security Jeep was listed as one of the three places where I could receive that amount. I took the offer to Security and asked for a sales manager. It was there I was introduced to Sunny Kaliandasani. Warning: if you find yourself working with Sunny, run! I explained the entire situation to Sunny and showed him the offer. Sunny along with the other sales managers were immediately defensive. One manager suggested that if they had to honor the 39K offer, then they would charge me above sticker price for the Jeep. The entire time Sunny even stated that he would be doing me a huge favor by selling me this jeep and taking my trade. He required that I pay him full sticker price for the Jeep. At this point, I was worn down and couldn't negotiate any further, so I agreed. The next day, I spoke to Sunny to arrange to sign the paperwork. I tried several times to reach him and had to keep leaving messages. I finally got in contact with him at 4PM only to hear him change the entire story. He stated that for them to honor my trade in price, he needed me to drive to his shop, complete paperwork, then pickup one of his salespeople and drive us both to Mannheim Auctions in Lancaster, PA which is a 3hr 30 minute drive. Sunny stated that this was their requirement to accept this trade even know Kelly Blue Book does not stipulate that. It became clear to me that Security Jeep had no interest in selling me the Jeep. Keep in mind that with Security Jeep's original trade offers they hoped to make over $10,000 by devaluing the trade. That represents 25% of the total deal value and does not include what the dealership makes on selling the jeep. Clearly, Security Jeep is more interested in extracting unjustified profits than building a happy customer base. Last night I picked up the exact Jeep that I was looking for at another dealership. Unfortunately, I had to go to a dealer that was 25 miles away, but they gave me the full value of my trade and also discounted the sticker price off the car. The end result is me being a happy Jeep customer but one that will never enter Security Jeep again. Buyer beware of Security Jeep and Sunny.

I called ahead to make sure they had a preowned vehicle before I drove 40 minutes to get to Amityville. To my surprise they didn't have it!!!! And to boot... the vehicle is still listed on the website as available. Bait and switch!!! They were so disrespectful!!!!

  • When will dealers ever learn?

2 out of 5 starsby boscool on 08/23/2014

Found a used Jeep that had the hard to find features we wanted/needed. Before and after signing the sales we specifically asked if there would be any additional charges or fees on delivery day. NO was the answer. Then at delivery the FI guy in the front corner office tells us there is an additional $400+ dealer fee/dealer profit which he could not even explain! Because we needed the vehicle with the required options, we reluctantly agreed, So, the result is instead of dealing with integrity and on the up and up ensuring loyal repeat customers the dealership/stealership chose to be the typical slimy car salesman that we all hate! All for the sake of a relatively small amount of additional profit! So, that makes us feel foolish and taken advantage of, admittedly for our mistake of not walking away from the deal as we have in the past when it happened at other dealerships. So how does it impact Security Dodge?! Well, we are a five car family who will never ever buy a vehicle from Security again ! The five of us also tell every person we speak to about cars or dealerships of how we were treated at Security Dodge and tell them to steer clear! So, while I am sure the FI got a big pat on the back for squeezing more profit out of our deal he and the dealership have cost themselves so much more than that and either don't know it or don't care! They have also lost our service business except for free oil changes or recall repairs that is where we get to take advantages of THEM! In any event this is a true story! Don't believe what they tell you, better yet stay away from them and avoid the type of treatment we encountered! Maybe someday the owner will wise up and have his sales staff treat people with respect and integrity and earn customer loyalty and repeat business! I am not holding my breath!!
    • We greatly apologize for the bad experience you had at Security Dodge and are disappointed to read that there may have been some confusion about the dealer fee. We are always looking to grow and improve at the dealership to create the best possible experience for our customers. Responses are a great way to frame your story while still making the person feel heard and acknowledged. We would love to discuss your experience further if you could please contact us at (888) 470-4522 at your convenience.

  • Would not Buy or Lease ANYTHING from this Dealership

    1.3 out of 5 starsby leftyarm97 on 05/28/2008

This dealership is the king of con. They paper ads are completely false, and when I went in there to lease a town a country nobody was able to give me a complete breakdown. The saleswoman eventually crumbled under the pressure and got the sales manager who came over and tired to explain the fees and after his "explanation", there still was 250 dollars that were somehow unaccounted for. The sales manager rebuffed by finally saying he couldn't break it down, and what was even crazier was the fact that he held firm on these fictitious numbers. I would never buy from this place and would highly recommend to anyone before they buy to at least check other dealerships. This place is downright scary and the salespeople reek of greed. The sales manger was out of a TV show. He had slicked back hair and a shiny tie and approached my wife and I as if he were family. Please don't focus on the dog and pony show. Pay CLOSE attention to the numbers and make sure you know how they arrive at EACH and EVERY DOLLAR. The sales manger had the audacity to tell me that it was only 200 bucks. I was so annoyed that I told him that I would not just "give" 200 bucks to stranger. I work too hard for my money, but you want me to just give you 200 dollars and not tell me why. He did not have an answer. Good luck in your quest if you are shopping to buy or lease a new Chrysler Product. Go to BBB.org and see the complaints for yourself and then compare those stats to other dealerships in the area and you will come to the same conclusion that I did and hopefully this review will save you some time.
  • Best salesmen and dealer on LI

After shopping around all of LI, Security Dodge was the only dealer that did right by me! I was turned down by a couple of dealerships because of my credit but Security Dodge got me approved and into a brand new jeep Grand Cherokee. I never thought I would be able to finance a new car, but they made it happen! My salesmen was so great and spent hrs with me showing me how to use all my options. The finance dept was patient and work deligently on getting me approved for the car of my dreams. they were the only dealer that made my dreams come true! i would recommend them to anyone, even the serivce dept was helpful and professional. 5 star dealer all the way!!!

Many years ago I bought a used car from Security Dodge and it still runs great. I walked into their show room today and spoke with Tom a sales manager and explained to him I wanted a Ram 1500. He introduced me to a Kristen C. who showed me a large selection of Ram 1500s they have on their lot. I also saw many other models that caught my eye but I've had my heart set on a 1500. I'm happy to say I am now a proud owner of a truck I been looking forward to owning for a long time. Their service was outstanding and they made everything quick, simple and easy. I would definitely recommend their dealership.

  • Bent over backwards

5 out of 5 starsby joegarraffo on 02/22/2012
    updated 06/03/2025

My wife and I walked in with our own financing. I knew exactly to the penny how much money we could afford to spend to keep our payments below a certain amount. [Angel] our salesperson was extremely knowledgeable about the product and with him and the sales manager [Joe S] we wound up keeping the payment exactly where we needed and walked out with a new car. What struck me the most was how everyone came out to see us in our new car. Even the managers. My wife loves the car. You guys were great. Thanks again for everything!
  • Worst Dealership Experience - Lies and Disrespect

    1 out of 5 starsby vrivera3 on 02/24/2012
    updated 06/03/2025

This is by far the WORST dealership I have ever dealt with in my life. I took a 4 hour drive to their delaership based on a lie made by a manager named Tom before I left, who wouldn't face me and had another manager John lie to me about the dealer maangers name. When I learned of his name (Joe Santosis), and contacted him later from home, he added insult to injury by promising to call me back and never doing so and then just leaving me on hold when I called back until I gave up. I was trying to purchase a 2011 Dodge Durango they had in stock and I explained to Eric in sales that I wanted the more current radio/navigation system and would pay the difference. We agreed on a price and I was to drive out to meet him, but it was a 2 hour drive each way and that I would have to take my newborn with me as well as my mother who was very ill. So I called back to explain the situation and make absolutely sure they understood I couldn't make 2 trips and everything had to be able to be done in one trip. I escalated to a manager named Tom for that assurance which he gave me. So I took the drive and when sure enough as soon as I got there Eric told me the tech's were to busy to do it that day. When I asked to speak to Tom, he wouldn't face me, so he sent another manager out named John - a very smug individual who told me that the price now went up by $1k. When I demanded to speak to the Dealership manager, he told me he wasn't in. I asked his name and he said Joe Smith. I knew Joe Smith was actually one of the sales associates there so I went to the receptionist and she gave me Joe Santosis' name. I spoke with Mr. Santosis and explained the entire situation to him and he told me he'd call me back the next morning to arrange the sale - never called back. Two more unreturned voicemails and a 30 minute hold later, I gave up and called Chrysler back to let them know how poorly this this dealership is operated and managed and how disrespectfully they treat customers.
