    Great Guy - works very hard for his customers - felt very comfortable buying my first car - explained everything to me from the vehicle to financing- never rushed or felt stupid - genuine concern for my safety and ability afford payments

    My buying experience was decent, fairly knowledgeable and friendly people. The problem came after the sale when i was picking up my plates. They hit me with registration fees claiming they underestimated it. But looking at the numbers, the estimated value was $307, and the actual cost was $300. So instead of giving me back $7 they charged me $70. sneaky tactics to milk every penny.

    traded in a chrysler 300 for a new lease of crv for 25k to be paid to me. still waiting for check and they have my car now over a week. Paperwork on lease had to be redone 3 times beacuse of poor staff. Greg L. salesman no help at all with conflict and Manager Mr. f. was nasty with me when i tried to complain and get my car or my money. Go anywhere else!

    From the second I got in there to the second I left it was a awesome experience. Everyone was warm and friendly. I would recommend anyone go there. My friend that I work with told me to go and look and I got exactly what I wanted. That never has happened before. My sales person Rashaan was amazing and kind and worked with me to the very end.     My recent lpurchase of 2013 Honda Accord Coupe was the worst car buying experience that I have had in fifty years. The lies told by the salesman, floor manager, and sales manager were unbelievable. I had to contact Honda Corporate to get back excess charges for equipment I paid for that was not on the car. Honda Univlerse promised refunds and then refused to return my calls. Honda customer service in California finally pressured them enough, but I had to spend a great deal of time and energy to get back money. Also the salesman told me the finance rate was 1.9% and when I got to closing it was 4.04%. I could continue this for several pages, but I think you get the idea. Find another dealership somewhere, but avoid Honda Universe like the plague.

    STAY AWAY FROM HONDA UNIVERSE!!!!!!!!!!! I was shopping around for 2011 Pilot Touring, and I went through Truecar.com to get the best quotes and Honda Universe was on the top of the list with best price in tri -state. I gave a call and spoke with Kimberly and she was very nice and said they definitely will honor the price quote that i have, so i scheduled an appointment and drove all the way to the dealership (about 1.5 hr drive). the sales person that I was assigned to is Jerome Hofmann, he was friendly and confirmed that they would absolutely honor the quote that I have. so far so good. and unfortunately they didn't have the color(s) of my choice so Jerome asked me to put down a deposit of $500 and said that it would take 8 to 12 weeks to get it directly form Honda also said they will let me know if they can locate the car in tri-state area in which case I should have my car with in 1 to 2 weeks and when I was hesitant to put down the deposit, he offered me 10 days time to decide. Came back and did some research on-line and found out that there were 3 other dealers that had the color of my choice, I called up all the three dealers and nobody was able to match the price with Honda Universe and one of them even said that " Honda Universe is promising you that price because they don't have it in stock and once you put down the deposit they will change the numbers" after a week I called Jerome and agreed to put down the deposit and he again assured me that he will get my car as soon as possible and asked me to come down to the deposit. again I drove all the way and when the time came to fill in the paper work.... SURPRISEEEEEEEEEE ... the numbers changed ( $700 more than the initial quote) when asked about it he said destination charges were not included in the initial quote blah blah blah....... when I showed him that the initial quote clearly states including destination charges, he tried to convince me with typical sales man BS which I was not buying into. after 30 mins back and forth, finally sales manager shows up and introduces him self and said "we can't offer you the initial quote because we are no longer in business with Truecar.com and I can't do anything about it" to which I replied then why didn't you or your sales man say that when I called up before arriving here? and what would have happened if I had put down the deposit during my first visit??? no apologies what so ever from the Manager. I just walked out. one week later, I came across another dealership who not only had my color of choice but also beat the Honda Universe initial quote by $400. I gave one star because, there was no option for Zero stars. but I again I thank Honda Universe for saving me $400, and not to mention the whole deal at the other dealership(I don't want to mention the name here) completed in 4 hours and I was driving my Brand New Pilot 2011 Touring.

    The lies from the salesman were too numerous to count. I was charged for items not on my car, quoted wildely inaccurate rates on the finance. I had to contact Honda Corporate in California. After several weeks of letter writing and complaints I finally received my money back. Avoid this dealer.

    This is the 4th Honda I bought from Honda Universe since 2006. In 2012 I purchased a CR-V for me and a Civic with my son from Glenn S who treated us extremely fair. So when I went to buy my 2014 Accord, I asked for Glenn. No surprise that he was now a manager. He then referred me to John M. It won't surprise me if next time I go he too would be a manager. John treated me fairly and together with Glenn, who realized the value of return business, it was one of the smoothest auto buys I ever made! Thanks, Guys!

    Definitely a satisfied customer especially since this is my first time with a brand new car! My father and I were pleased to make business with John. He took care of us not only when it came to the car but also to make us feel comfortable. (Adding to the fact that I was very ill and he made the process 10x easier!) I can definitely recommend John to anyone whose looking to buy a new car and is still a tad bit skeptical.

    I just purchased my first car with salesman John M. My mother and I had a very unpleasant experience at another dealership with a fast talking quintessential salesman, which was exhausting. On a whim, we stopped by Honda Universe to check out the Fit, and from the moment we got there till the moment we left John was nothing but helpful. He listened to what we were looking for, didn't give us any [non-permissible content removed] or try to force us to make up our minds or push us into a sale. I would recommend John to anyone looking to shop for a car. Honest, straight to the point, and hassle free and I feel great about my first purchase! Thanks John!

  • Bait and switch still alive in Lakewood NJ

    Not only would I never buy a car from this dealership, I would never have a car serviced and I would advise anyone I know or if asked, to boycott this establishment. On 11/23/12 I spoke with a sales rep who told me she “verified “ that they had a specific model IN STOCK and when I made the 2 hour trip to get to the dealership I was greeted with a bait and switch to a model I did not prefer. I asked her multiple times on this call to verify and she told me that she verified they had it and “could not call me unless she verified it”. When I arrived I was told that it had been “sold”. I asked to see the paperwork or the actual car that it was sold in the 1 1/2 hours since I spoke with them and I was greeted by a manager saying, “ It was sold, I did not say in the past 1 1/2hours, you did”. It is this tactic that gives car salesman their bad reputation.
