by suvconsumer on 07/31/2010Without question, one of the worst car-shopping experiences of my life! First, I had done my research and knew precisely the type of car I wanted. They had 8 of them featured on their website. When I arrived, none of those 8 vehicles were… there. All of them had magically "just been sold in the last couple of hours" (note: I had a friend call to ask about these vehicles the next day and they assured her they were there - come on down. Three days later, the same cars are still on their website). Secondly, they informed me the "discount" listed on their website was not REALLY a discount and the price on the website wasn't REALLY the price. It actually is based on a series of assumptions and a combination of rebates that could not possibly ever be obtained, since some of them actually cancel each other out. Third, the salesman kept pushing me towards a different vehicle entirely, despite the fact that I told him repeatedly, in no uncertain terms, that I did not want that type of vehicle, it did not meet my needs (I still don't understand, because it was actually a few thousand dollars less than the one I wanted - I guess he was getting a better commission on the other vehicle). Fourth, he finally condescended to show me the car I wanted, but a USED version of it, not any of the new models that I saw sitting on the lot that I asked to see. He further insulted my intelligence by telling me what a great deal it was, because since it was used, he would sell it for $5,000 less than the sticker price of a new model. While I was waiting for him to find the keys, I used my blackberry to look it up on Kelly Blue Book - the appropriate suggested retail price for that car with all of those features was over $8,000 less than the price he was "graciously" offering me. Fifth, (again, I know this is a typical technique) - he "went to talk to the manger" to "see what he could do" and they both tried to bully me into making a decision on the spot (yes, using every single cliche line in the book) and when I told them no, I was leaving, they tried to push me into leaving a deposit (on a car I didn't want) and come back the next day to collect it. Sixth - the salesman then proceeded to call my home every hour until after 8.30 that night (without leaving any messages) and started again the next morning shortly after 9am. He did leave one message on my cell phone demanding I "call him as soon as I got this message," but with no additional comment. In summary, the people with whom I dealt embody every single negative stereotype of the deceitful, conniving, dishonest, unpleasant car salesman. AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP AT ALL COSTS!!!!Avoid this place!!!
by hemilover on 04/17/2010Car was not ready as promised. Vehicle was not road ready. It was in poor condition....especially disturbing since the salesperson promised that he would personally check the car. Price was not what we originally agreed upon. Owner/ manager… refused to speak to us. The salesperson was changing the terms of the deal on his little worksheet without advising or explaining. To try to make a better monthly payment, he changed the terms to 72 months from 60 months. I finally realized all of the deceit when I was finallizing the deal with the [violative content deleted] from finance department. The whole experience was totally unbelievable. We attempted e-mailing and writing to the owners...all to no avail. The owners never responded. This group is a REAL class act!!Stay Away!
by kingtorres on 01/12/2010This dealership can sell water to a whale! Do your self a favor and stay away. They will rip you off and never want to hear from you again. I purchased a truck for 34,000 and had nothing but problems the minute i rolled out of the lot. They… never wanted to be bothered and denied that they were liable for the repairs. Still to this day they have not repaired my vehicle. 6 months later with all the problems the truck was having i decided to bring the vehicle back to them and trade it for ANOTHER, BUT THEY TURNED THEIR BACKS ON ME AND DID NOT WANT THE VEHICLE BACK. I was insulted with a trade offer of Half the value of the truck just so that they wouldn't have to be bothered with the vehicle. THIS DEALERSHIP SHOULD BE A BUY HERE PAY HERE [violative content deleted] THAT SELLS AS IS VEHICLES. THEIR IS NO CARE OR CONSIDERATION FOR THE CUSTOMERS AT WARNOCK! STAY AWAY!Trade-in Treat, no Trick
by Ram1500Black on 11/04/2013updated 08/03/2025Rick V. had sent me an offer in the mail to trade-in my Ram pickup. We talked on the phone, I came in on a Sat, we had a deal done by Monday, I had the new truck on Wed. And that included getting a spray-in bed liner added to the truck. The… sales team was great, everything went well. A couple of comments, minor in nature.......It took Rick and I a couple of weeks to play phone tag and discuss the potential terms of the deal he was proposing. Returning my calls took a little longer than I would have expected. The second thing was the very limited number of trucks to choose from that were similar to my previous truck. There were only a couple of trucks to be able to choose from, there was no suggestion or offer to see what other trucks might be available from other dealers. I was very close to walking away because of the limited selection. After all, you guys approached me with the idea of putting me in a similar truck at about the same monthly payments. But when I went to look at the selection of similar trucks, there were very few Quad Cabs ( mostly Crew Cabs) and even fewer that were in the "similar" range of my previous truck. Again, Rick and the sales team were very cooperative and I am happy with the deal we worked out.Wonderful Service
by dale147 on 06/14/2013updated 08/03/2025Everyone that I came into contact with at the dealership was extremely helpful, pleasant and courteous. I cannot praise the salesman, Bill D. enough - he went above and beyond the only way to describe my experience is that it was… wonderful. Ray S., who helped me with my financing was also great, he was thorough, informative and courteous. I cannot say enough good things about either of them.Sales Associate Bill D.
by smokey29 on 07/15/2013updated 08/03/2025Felt very comfortable with sales associates. Employees were very friendly & courteous.Happy Customer
by motoman5 on 04/22/2013updated 08/03/2025No high pressure sales. I looked around on my own after talking with a sales person and found a dart that I was interested in. got a great deal on my trade and drove a new dart home that night. The process was easy and the sales people very… helpful.Very Satisfied
by MPKBKYLN on 04/21/2013updated 08/03/2025Dealership was running a special on trades getting book value and up to 1500.00 ANY CONDITION vehicle. Heard this on the radio and made my way from BROOKYN to East Hanover. Very happy with the car purchase and trade value. The dealership… had many choices/inventory to choose from. The salesman Mark C. and his manager worked with me to get the best deal. Thanks guys. When more people find out about this deal the are going to be very busy! New Yorkers make the 45min trip, its worth it.I would highly recommend this dealership
by wlnude on 03/07/2013updated 08/03/2025This was one of the best car buying experiences I have ever had. I like to buy a new car every couple of years and Nielsen met all of my expectations. They were able to get me into the truck of my choice without hassle and worked with me on… my credit and me being upside down with my trade. The staff was very friendly even after my purchase and everyone that I had needed to speak to returned my calls which is a first for any dealership. I would lke to personally thank Jack, Ray and Bill for all of their help and would highly recommend NielsenUnsatisfy customer
by emi1 on 03/17/2013updated 08/03/2025I had purchased a Jeep Wrangler in 2007 from the previous dealership. My vehicle was serviced there all the time and decided to try to buy a new Jeep. I used their on line to view inventory selected a Jeep and made an appointment to see it.… I provided the information from the computer test drove vehicle and then I was informed that the price on the computer was incorrect that their computer person made a mistake. I was not very happy and walked out. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone.Easy To Deal With
by badlander on 08/15/2013updated 08/03/2025I bought a couple of cars here when this was still the Warnock dealership. Back then, the sales department was OK, but service was a nightmare. This was my first experience shopping at Neilsen. I bought a new Dodge Caravan RT. Negotiating… was simple. I did most of my haggling over e-mail. The dealership was fair and we agreed on a price. I would suggest working with Steve R. via e-mail and Dave G. in person. Both were good to deal with, Dave is a great guy. They were up front on pricing, and gave me a quote on-line and no games like including any rebates in the quote. I was surprised that they actually beat the the Costco Auto Program price from another dealer by a little bit. There were, of course, the usual add ons doc fees and registration. They were negotiable on the doc fees. Closing the deal was a bit of a disappointment. The paperwork guy (Tony? Tommy?) was pleasant, but was hurried and a fast talker. He tried to slip in $299 for window etching. What irked me was that he lied to my face when I said I did not want it, telling me etching is on all their cars. When I told him no thanks he removed it without further debate, but I didnt like that he tried to slip it in. The sales process was 5 stars other than him. Aside from that, the dealership sales department was good. I am yet to use the service department, but I am hoping it is improved over its Warnock days.great experience
by kathymurphy on 02/27/2014updated 08/03/2025I decided to give Nielsen a try after initially visiting another local Jeep dealer. The experience was so much better, more honest, up front I bought my car from them that day. I was treated with respect, and everyone worked very hard to… get me into my dream car. Just a great experience.Jeep Grand Cherokee 2014 SRT
by trader67 on 05/15/2014updated 08/03/2025To say that Rick the sales manager was a life saver would be an understatement! I had ordered an SRT 2 1/2 months earlier from another dealership (about the same distance from my house) and without any notice from them I found out directly… from SRT that they never even ordered it (the salesman screwed up) and didn't even tell me until I pressed them! That manager was then rude to me and offered nothing. In desperation, I called Nielsen and asked to speak with the sales manager. That's when I met Rick. He not only found me the exact SRT I was looking for (custom) he had it delivered to their dealership the very next day! Things happen for a reason I guess. They will always get my business. Thank you, Rick for really coming through for me! BTW, I LOVE my new truck!Beware of the Finance Office
by nank78 on 07/08/2011updated 08/03/2025I leased a Jeep Liberty from this place over the winter and the sales process was great. They beat all other quotes I had received and responded to all my inquiries promptly. I went in a few times to look at the car and test drive a couple… different models and they were never pushy at any point. I contacted them when I was ready to go through with the purchase. It wasn't until I came in to sign all the paperwork that I ran into problems. All of a sudden, my lease payment had gone up $10 a month from what they had originally told me because they had trouble getting me approved. The FI manager was then doing everything he could to get me to buy one of their useless products because he "had to get paid." He tried telling me that vin etching would be free by lowering the interest rate on the lease to offset the price of it. I was so caught off guard by this guy's shady tactics. I ended up still going through with the deal, but in hindsight I should have walked or exercised my right to review the lease contract for 24 hours and have them restructure it so it would be the price I was originally quoted. Beware!Questionable Sales Tactics
by susanaree on 07/13/2011updated 08/03/2025I spent nearly 3 hours with a salesman who talked himself right out of a sale. First red flag - I was eligible for a specific discount through my employer, but to take advantage of it, the salesman was "required" to charge me an additional… fee! Then he pulled the same old "let me talk to my manager" routine - when I found him, he was chatting about something totally other than my deal. He never seemed to stop talking. Fortunately for me, by the time this guy stopped talking, the car prep folks had gone home for the night, so he couldn't sell me the car we'd been talking about. Had no problem wasting my time, but it backfired on him. He offered instead to "sell" me a different car that night with the understanding that the next day I could come back and redo the paperwork so we could "switch" cars. NO THANKS! Went to another dealership where the salesman had never heard about the fee required to take advantage of the discount. He otherwise matched the other dealer's offer, and the experience was so much better. The finance guy was a little shady, but simply paying attention and saying "no" alot offset that issue. Can't imagine what the finance guys at Warnock would have pulled. Glad it didn't get that far.Go elsewhere....
by kidjoey on 03/04/2013updated 08/03/2025I was promised free service and oil changes during the warranty period as part of the sales agreement, that was never honored. The JEEP salesman had no idea how to get the truck from 2w to 4w drive, causing us to get stuck on the road… during the test drive. He had to call his manager to tell him the correct way to shift from 2w to 4w drive. I got the impression he might have been new so I didn't give him a hard time and just let that slide. So as we are negotiating, another sales associate makes my salesman aware of another customer interested in purchasing the truck I was interested in. He pointed to the gentleman who was sitting with another salesman at another sales desk. The truck I was interested in was the only one in that color with the features I wanted. So I guess he was saying to me I should hurry up and sign on the line before the other gentleman did so if I wanted that truck. This didn't cause me to rush into the purchase, there were still a few other details in consideration that were holding me back from the purchase. We eventually come to an agreement and I purchase the vehicle. My wife and I drive the vehicle home and as we are almost home she realizes she may have left her cell phone at the dealership. We called the dealership and they said they had the phone and I told them I would be back sometime that day to pick it up. I went back a few hours later and when I did I noticed the same gentleman that was interested in purchasing my vehicle. It was nearly four hours later, which made me wonder why he was still there and if he was even really a "customer"....Excellent Customer Service!!!
by LMAnderson on 03/09/2014updated 08/03/2025I've been coming to this dealership since it was Warnock. I must say that this last experience was the BEST Experience ever! New to the dealership under Nielsen's, my sales associate, Anthony D. jumped through hoops to get me the best deal… possible. I think I had him a little frazzled but he did his job with no complaints and always a smile. He even tried to show me how to operate and sync my phone with the Durango at 10pm without rushing me. The sales manager Sam can work miracles. If ever in doubt ask your sales associate to go get Sam. But the crème' de le crème' is Ray S. in the finance department. He explained everything in detail and did not put pressure on me to buy the additional packages. Some dealerships make you feel like the only way you can get the special offers is if you buy the packages. However, after his detailed explanations and me even calling my insurance company to confirm I caved in. His personality just reels you in and makes you feel so very comfortable. They also had a "Hoops" contest this weekend...during the warm-up session I purposefully made them think I couldn't shoot. I made 3 out of 15 shots. But when it came down to the official contest the guys were cheering me on and you know what...first shot ALL NET! They couldn't believe it but what they didn't know is that I'm a mother of 3 sons and basketball is my life!! Too bad I didn't win the CASH prize but I did get a gift card. by davidscreen on 05/29/2014updated 08/03/2025Chris is quite flexible and knowledgeable. Enjoyed working with him.I got the car I wanted and I am delighted
by Petunia2003 on 08/05/2013updated 08/03/2025My husband and I visited another dealer who tried to discourage me from getting the make and model used car I had my heart set on. We went home to discuss what to do and looked online to see what else was available. We took a ride to… Nielsen to look at a vehicle I liked, thinking we would have to return another day to take a test drive since it was after business hours. To our surprise, we were able to do so, and our sales person not only stayed late, but was willing to work with me on the price of the vehicle. When I met with financing to sign the paperwork, they were willing to find a plan that best fit my very limited budget. I wasn't pressured like I was at the other dealership, and, although the car I bought at Nielsen was older and less expensive than the other car I looked at, it was in much better condition.
