Great Dealer!
by sanathgk on 08/17/2013updated 08/03/2025We walked in and we were introduced To Mr. R. He was very kind and helped us out through the whole thing. we ended up buying a new honda accord exl v6 4dr. He worked very hard to get us this great deal. We will definitely recommend him to… other friends. :)Misrepresentation of pricing
by msnj on 04/24/2014updated 08/03/2025They list it low and when you go there they just say "it was an honest mistake" then try to increase to the price by 3- 4K. really bad way to get people in ..Be VERY Careful and Weary!!!
by almost_taken on 01/13/2013updated 08/03/2025I made arrangements to buy a 2013 CRV. The sales slip was made out. I called for insurance cards. The agent told me the VIN was for a 2012. The sales slip omitted the year of the car on the line that calls for the year and make. Also the… price on the slip was $300 more than the agreed price. Paying for a year old car at current year's price!! Bait and switch?Honda Civic Purchase
by Valero08 on 12/28/2013updated 08/03/2025The sales personnel were friendly, informative, and inclined to help me find just the car I was seeking(which I did). And they were honest in helping me seek the car I bought.Excellent dealership with Professional Staff
by abhojak on 07/12/2013updated 08/03/2025This dealership is located conveniently from my house. The dealership is clean and well lit. I had the pleasure of working with Manny and Mark along with Hamad from Finance department. They were all welcoming, friendly, and… professional. Only thing I felt could have been done differently is that towards the end of whole transaction, they should do complete walk around inspection of the vehicle. I understand my transaction happened very late into the evening (10:30 pm) and the dealership was closed. But there were paper work that I was asked to sign stating there were no dings, scratches, etc.... But I wasn't sure if this was true. But once the whole deal was done, my family and I did our own inspection prior to leaving the parking lot. My overall experience was very pleasant one. I definitely recommend shopping at this dealership.DO NOT GO THERE
by rs1010 on 05/13/2011updated 08/03/2025My husband and I went to Garden State Honda to purchase an Insight. We took the test drive and sat down to negotiate. That's when the trouble began. We were set on what we wanted to pay - no more no less. All they had to do was say yes or… no. First they held on to my Amex card that I gave them as a good faith (their suggestion), so when we asked for it back the salesman instead brought back a manager (and I use the terms salesman and manager loosely). After about 4 hours we came to an agreement and since the car we wanted was not there at the time we would just sign the contract and come back. Now at first they gave us a blank contract saying it was late they would fill in later. I don't know if we looked that stupid to them but we did make them fill it in with the terms and with an attached paper stating that when we came back to do the finance papers our payment would not be more than what was agreed. After another hour all this was done and we left. Two days later the car was in and we went back and sat down with finance to fill out the forms. All of a sudden they couldn't give us the rate agreed upon because that offer was only good up till two days ago - when we signed the contract!! So again we were ready to forget the whole thing and leave. The finance person told us he would go to speak with the manager (what a surprise). When he came back he did say they would work it out so the payment was the same. Okay - we signed everything and left with the car. NOW. I just received a letter from the old finance company that we owe them money. We gave a trade. The payoff letter had a date that was good for a week after we signed and drove off with the new car, ample time to make the payment. When I called the bank that was supposed to be paid off they informed me that the payoff was not received until TWO WEEKS after. Not only is the payoff short but there is a $10.00 late fee added because they waited two weeks. Worst experience we had.Non Trust worthy and Cheep Dealer
by ody2009 on 12/12/2010updated 08/03/2025Never Trust on Garden State Used car dealer and its manager on site. I had very bad experience of buying mini-van recently. These people sells car to two different people at same time and makes false promise to come next day for pick up. At… pick up time they want to sell other car in place of originally negocitated one at higher price to waste your time as well prsuade you with keeping waiting. Very fustrating, painfull buying experience at this dealer where "There is no room of Trust or Truth".Patient and Courteous
by j_b_ on 07/13/2013updated 08/03/2025Kerry G. was patient and courteous. He understood the perspective of both the parent and the young driver. I wish I could remember the name of the guy who brought the car out for us. He gave some free advice which prompted us to our final… decision to go for the Accord coupe. I appreciated the consideration of everyone who talked with us and although I don't remember everyone's name, thank you, again.Excellent Service and Excellent Price
by smartcookie1 on 09/06/2012updated 08/03/2025I knew I wanted a Honda so I shopped around on line first to establish a price range that I was willing to pay. I planned on going to a few dealers and I started with Garden State Honda. I was treated with respect. No question was… insignificant. The answers were straightforward and immediate. Manny knew so much about the vehicle that I asked him if he had started in the service department before coming to sales. He hadn't but obviously knew what he was talking about. These are very down to earth people...no fast talking. When it came time to talk price they were actually a bit lower than what I had expected to pay and quite frankly, I would have looked no further just based on the service I was getting. I even called a day later with another question about the dashboard and Manny called me back twice to make sure all was good. Go to Garden State Honda if you need a car.I'd rather stick a needle in my eye than go back here...
by celiat on 01/28/2012updated 08/03/2025Are you kidding me? Let me start off by saying I've done my homework on the CRV for the past 6 months because I've been WAITING for 2012 to come out. I went here in the beginning of the month to get a quote on the CR-V EX-L 2012. Justine -… fabulous salesperson, great demeanor, knows her stuff COLD. However, I left because of a manager who sauntered over to us, asked me why I wanted certain modifications (God forbid I try to negotiate a deal on a car I want), and honestly acted unbelievably arrogant. I left, but had second thoughts despite my father and friends asking me to see other dealerships, because I honestly liked Justine, and if anyone's getting a commission for my car, it's going to be her. I even waited the 24 days for them to get the car today. Granted, I went to get the car mid-day Saturday (today) and it was crazy, but after waiting more than 2 hours to see the finance department, and AFTER SIGNING A CONTRACT FOR A CERTAIN PERCENTAGE RATE, I'm about ready to drive off, another salesperson with a knack for words, comes to Justine, and says, "finance wants to see you again, don't let them drive off with the car." Excuse me? Apparently they "ACCIDENTALLY" gave us a lower rate than they were supposed to, and were now correcting it by calling different banks for the correct amount. (That's not really my problem, because honestly we went over it when the woman in the finance department went over the details with me for more than a half hour). For the next 20 minutes, not one manager came to us, despite us asking for the manager, and all I had was the one person, Justine, who had nothing to do with that, had to deal with my wrath because of the irresponsibility of another person. Anyway, after rectifying the situation by lowering the actual price of the car (1) after threatening to walk out of the deal and (2) giving them the only option we'd deal with, the finance woman asked the manager WHO FINALLY SHOWED UP what to do to for giving us such a hard time, he replied, "Well I can offer you 2 oil changes for free..." What the HELL? I am a damn physician, I don't need your pity oil changes for 50 bucks. Overall: JUSTINE ROCKS...but this place is trying to scam everyone. CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SATISFACTION SUCKS. If I didn't need the damn car, or if I didn't like Justine, I would have never came back. Garden State Honda, you're lucky you have her - because with that reputation, you DO NOT deserve her.no-hassle with leasing
by jerseydriver1 on 03/12/2012updated 08/03/2025I arrived with the printout of the internet price/terms I'd negotiated on a '12 Accord EX lease. No problem. All went smoothly and I was out of there with a new car in less than 2 hours. They Really Do Say YES!!!
by al12345 on 06/14/2011updated 08/03/2025We visited several dealers, including Garden State Honda, as well as other car manufacturers to settle on a car. Once decided, I tried to make a deal with a North Jersey Honda dealer on a 2012 Civic Coupe in a specific color. The 12's were… just hitting the floor and they budged a little on price because it was the end of the month, but we were at lest $1000 apart from where I needed to be. I gave my Garden State Honda salesperson a call that evening. He gave me the price I wanted/needed over the phone. At the time, I thought the number was fair and the North Jersey dealer was just greedy. I made an appointment for the next day. When I arrived he apologized for making a mistake and could not honor the price. Of course, I was skeptical, but no other dealer could come close so I do believe it was an honest mistake. Nonetheless, we took the matter to the general manager, Tim Hlavenka, and he HONORED THE PRICE! Tim had to locate the car, which he did in only a few days. He didn't realize the car was coming with a few dealer installed items - so he ate the cost of those too. It's an unbelievable deal that I know he cannot reproduce. But, most important, he kept his word and insured we were satisfied. Throughout the entire process he (and the others in the dealership) treated me like I was an important customer. They could have easily slipped into the mode of - we are doing you a favor with this price - but they didn't. Quite frankly, after we agreed on price, the most I expected was to feel OK. But, Tim was always professional, responsive, honest and never let up the gas in trying to treat me as a valued customer. I came out of this experience feeling great and treated great. I've had some bad car buying experiences long ago and have been skeptical every since. Not now. I take my hat off to Tim and the crew at Garden State Honda. I'm a tough person to please and nearly impossible to impress. The car is for my daughter and we are all thrilled with the vehicle and the buying experience. I'm happy she enjoyed this because it really does make a difference. It's not just price. I would highly recommend Garden State Honda to anyone purchasing a new Honda and encourage you to bring Tim in on the deal. Best of luck in your venture.Excellent to deal with
by walt3 on 05/30/2013updated 08/03/2025Dealt with the sales manager after an online inquiry. He and everyone involved were wonderful to deal with. Received great price. Courtous service and extremely helpful and friendly. No pressure ever. Will go back.Service - Sales
by CivicEXL2go on 08/27/2013updated 08/03/2025I purchased a Civic EX-L, very satisfy. That is only part of the story, Service from the Sales Staff was amazing. Mr. Julio C. and the Management made sure I was getting a car that I could afford. Not just another Sales! It's a… Honda. Thank you.Best in the lot
by mj448 on 07/27/2011updated 08/03/2025My journey to buy first SUV reached its pinnacle with Honda Pilot (Touring) from Garden State Honda, Clifton. Jimmy Di is an excellent salesman. My advise is to do your homework before talking to him as he is champion seller. More… importantly after this purchase, I admire how this management viz., Mr. Tim and Mr. Wayne, handle situations resulting in 100% satisfied customer. Frankly, I was bewildered because they walked ten extra miles for my satisfaction. Add to it, possibly the most competitive price. I will not only highly recommend them in any season but also voluntarily actively brand ambassador lifelong. Now, lets examine some facts: 1. Price for Honda Pilot Touring = 37k and change 2. (1) + 7% Tax + 7yr extended Warranty + GAP + doc fee et al = 44k and change 3. Initial car from Honda was with minor (non driving) defects such as sun roof, microhone etc. 4. The dealership went above and beyond and replaced my car with a new car (within first 24 hrs) without my demanding it. I have heard other shops "servicing" new car to "fix" the issues. Garden State Honda, Clifton, handled it differently. 5. Customer Satisfaction = 100% and change :) 6. USP = They will prove what they claim. They are the best in the lot. Finally, I own a great vehicle from a great company and from, last but not least, great dealership.UP FRONT AND COURTEOUS
by winewinewine on 12/21/2010updated 08/03/2025Called an set an appointment. Went there and sat down test drove, asked 18000(more like 50) all answered. I tried to find some sort of weird loop hole in the contract or hidden something but I got nothing. Garden State Honda got my… business.Great Buying Experience
by postscriptnj on 12/24/2010updated 08/03/2025I received an internet quote from this dealer. When I went to the dealership, I was promptly assigned a sales representative, Alwyn Douglas, who was extremely knowledgeable and responsive. We concluded a transaction on good terms in a… prompt and professional manner. Can't trust this dealership
by irisg1 on 05/24/2012updated 08/03/2025Usually, if I don't have something nice to say, I won't say anything at all, but Garden State Honda left a bitter taste in my mouth. These people will beat around the bush and avoid giving you a firm price on a vehicle. I received an online… quote. It sounded ok, but I needed a better price, plus I had just started shopping. Still wanted to look at Toyota's. All the while they were more concerned with what I wanted to pay per month. I continually asked what price they were giving me, to no avail. I went home, and days later I called to ask again, what the price was. The manager whom I spoke to was unprofessional. Makes jokes with me about how he was trying to make a sale because it was a slow day, and I should be kind. I am a woman by the way, so I thought that was highly inappropriate. Each time they contacted me, their price seemed to go up, instead of down. They keep no notes, so have no idea what they offered you last. I got soo disgusted, I decided to visit another dealership. It's really a shame, because their pricing appears to be competitive, but they just made me feel like they couldn't be trusted, and I decided to follow my intuition. About the only other good thing I can say about Garden State Honda, is that they get back to your inquiries very quickly. Well sort of. If you decide to deal with them, just do your research and be prepared for a little run around. My great sales experience
by myhomesales on 10/25/2013updated 08/03/2025I actually went to get my 2011 accord serviced when I decided to visit the showroom. I ended up trading in my accord for a Civic Hybrid. It was easy and fun. I'm in sales myself so I know how hard it is to do what these guys have to do.… They made it worth my while to trade my lease in early. So glad I went to their showroom. Thank you for all your help.Service - Sales
