by dillonf on 06/21/2018We bought our 2017 Highlander here new (was a difficult negotiating process but thats another story) this year and feel preyed upon and betrayed by their service department. After multiple encounters with them, I feel that this is what… they do to all of their customers. Story 1: My wife takes the new car in because two of the tires keep losing air. Matt R at the service department greets her, proceeds to tell her she needs to buy a new tire. She says no thanks please put the spare on and will take it to get a second opinion. She being a lone woman proceeds to get pressured and YELLED at when resisting this purchase bringing her to tears. Big man to yell at my 95 lb wife when Im not around. Assuming this is a common disgusting sales tactic to prey on lone women and elderly. Story 2: Take minivan into service for an oil change. They say the battery is dying after a routine test, will go on me any moment. Think it odd since battery is only a couple years old. I decline so I can go to interstate where I bought it and it is a 5 year battery. Experience high pressure sales tactic guilting me into feeling I will leave my family stranded which I can better by shelling out $150. Arrive at Interstate who proceed to show me physically with several different tests the battery is as good as the day I bought it. This place is a nest of [non-permissible content removed] who use high pressure sales tactics to prey on your loved ones. Do yourself a favor and buy a car from the Jeff City dealership and get service from ANYWHERE else.Terrible dealer

Horrible staff, esp. those front desk women, impatient and impolite. They sent many trash Emails and call you directly to ask for… buying your car, but when you call back, they just forgot it.I apologize that you've had a bad experience with our dealership. We would like the opportunity to talk with you in person about it. Excellent customer service is extremely important to us. by jason127 on 12/02/2012updated 08/02/2025I negotiated a trade of two cars plus cash for a late model Rav 4. The deal was nearly finalized pending a final inspection of the vehicles. I disclosed that the condition of one of the vehicles was poor and was assured that as long as it… would run, the deal would go forward. When I returned the 90 miles the following day to finalize the deal, the salesman demanded an additional $1,500 to complete the deal. He claimed that the the vehicle was not as valuable as had been estimated. Because I had disclosed the poor condition of the vehicle in advance, it appears that the dealer had no intention of honoring our original deal. I refused to pay the additional $1,500 and have no intention of doing business with this dealership in the futurein response to the above comment we made a fair offer to do business with "jason127" based on information provided to us by him in regards to the condition of his 1997 Dakota with only 50,000 miles. when we were able to finally see his Dakota the description provided did not match the actual condition of the Dakota. Vehicle was leaking engine fluids, the clear coat was coming off the vehicle in numerous places, both front and rear bumpers were rusted and the bedsides were completely rusted. The only thing the customer mentioned was some rust behind the rear wheels that is typical for that model. Based on the true condition we had to ammend what the truck was worth. We do many transactions over the internet and phone and rarely do we have any issues completing the transaction as long as we have an accurate description of the vehicle being traded and/or pictures. We do not want any customers that come long distances to do business with us to leave without feeling they were treated fairly and professionally. Our goal is to completely satisfy everyone we do sales or service work with at Joe Machens Toyota
