excellent experience with Clay Subaru
by Cecilia Xu on 05/02/2024I purchased my first car here and the experience is very good: no pressure, very friendly and responsible.Great experience
by Pmurph_01 on 05/03/2024I had met Amanda last year while exploring different vehicles from different dealerships, but she was the best person I dealt with. She explained everything perfectly, including different options. I came back to Subaru because of my… experience with Amanda. Everyone else I met with, including the finance manager, were great. I’ve already referred friends and family.Exceptional
by Solocanoe on 10/11/2023I am 64 and have purchased many cars in my day. I am a 5time Subaru owner. The experience at Clay was phenomenal. The sales person ( Amanda Sailniar) was honest, extremely knowledgeable and direct. How very refreshing!!Wonderful Buying Experience
by SarahA622 on 05/04/2023I worked with Tony Chahwan to buy my car and it was a great experience. I highly recommend him and Clay Subaru!Excellent dealership.
by nonameneeded on 04/07/2023I felt the dealership listened to what I wanted and what I was looking to spend and found the perfect car for me even though Subaru was not on my list of cars I was looking for. I was impressed with the vehicle and how professional Mike… Brooks was through the process.Happy with my experience
by Robin on 11/11/2018I went to Clay looking to trade in by Legacy for an Outback. Wens was knowledgeable and efficient, and he never pressured me to buy anything. Wens was available whenever I had questions and was able to make it a comfortable experience. He… happily went out of his way to make sure I got everything I was looking for. The entire sales staff was more than helpful and I'm happy with me new car!Low pressure approach to sales
by Anonymous on 09/29/2018Clay Subaru in Norwood has a low pressure approach to sales. The price was very clear. It matched what was on their website. There was no attempt to bait and switch or deceive, and no game-playing where they make you wait while they "go… talk to their manager" about pricing or whatnot. Unusual in the car sales industry, and a pleasant surprise. Had actually intended to buy a Honda but ended up buying the Subaru from Clay due to their informative, low pressure, approach.Excellent!
by LeanneMcGinty on 08/29/2018updated 09/05/2018My husband and I decided to trade in our 2010 Subaru Forester and purchase a 2016 Outback. Our experience with Subaru in the past has created an intense loyalty to the brand and I honestly don't see myself ever driving another brand. Our… first Subaru was a 2004 Outback that I credit to saving my children when my husband was rear-ended with the kids in the backseat. I knew what I was looking for when I went in to Clay. Valentino was our sales representative and he was so knowledgeable! He had answers to all of my questions, he was prompt when returning my calls and keeping me in the loop after the sale and he really pushed things along to make sure I got my car when I needed it. He was fantastic and delivered an amazing experience for both me and my husband. (This is the second Subaru we have purchased from Clay! Highly recommend them!)Patient Knowledgeable Staff
by Mary_P on 06/28/2018Very pleased with Franco's patience and knowledge of the car we were interested in. Felt comfortable and not pressured. My husband and I highly recommend Clay Subaru. They may be smaller than Boch but much more personal and genuinely put… the customers' needs first.Excellent Service
by NT on 01/14/2018Mike Brooks is awesome. He has taken the time out of his busy schedule including his days off with the process of my car purchase. Great job to Joseph A. also Thank you so muchGreat Experience!
by SubaruStars on 11/28/2017I had a great experience from the start. I pray shocked many dealerships got the best price at clay and got all my service included.Advertised pricing was not available
by connerda on 04/23/2016I went in with my checkbook to buy a new car. They did not have a car at their own advertised price - not even close and there was no explanation. I imagine this is typical of most dealers, but it undermines their credibility.Bait and switch tactics
by ragel on 02/17/2016If you're interested in buying a Subaru, I highly suggest avoiding Clay Subaru. I got a good ol' bait and switch from them. Allison assisted myself and my friend on the phone yesterday. We agreed on a price for a used vehicle. Said it was… no problem. Showed up today and after TWO HOURS, they REFUSED to honor the price they AGREED with on the phone. I would look for another dealership in the area, they told me that Allison's job is to get people in the door. So, essentially, her job is to lie to people, negotiate when she doesn't have the authority to....? Awful customer service, bad business, bait and switch tactics. I asked to have Allison brought over while negotiating the price to CONFIRM that she AGREED on a price for me to purchase and the sales rep wouldn't bring her over. So shady! I put down cash towards the car as a deposit and they told me that it was not going to be taken off the list price? WHAT? Accepting a payment and confirming the payment via email after we negotiated a list price is a CONTRACT in most states.Clay Subaru are [violative content deleted]
by STiDriver on 02/19/2009They are a [violative content deleted]. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP. I bought a new STi and paid an additional $600 for the bluetooth connectivity. Well, they installed an aftermarket bluetooth that was junk rather than the Subaru… official OEM bluetooth. After numerous telephone calls to the dealer, they eventually "manned up" and admitted that they installed an aftermarket bluetooth. They eventually agreed to swap it out with the factory bluetooth, but the salesman said that they didn't have to make the swap because the paperwork didn't specify what kind of bluetooth they had to install!!! He then told me that the aftermarket bluetooth was more expensive. So of course, if it was more expensive, I asked for a refund on the difference. He told me that they lost enough money on this car. They also installed the front license plate crooked, and the fix required an extra hole in my front bumper. They were also extremely rude. This is what you get when you spend $42,000 for a new car. This is the worst dealership I have ever been to, and I buy new cars every 3-4 years. If they were the last dealership on earth, I'd rather bike to work than buy anything from them.Terrible Experience
by canddnh on 04/13/2014updated 05/28/2025We recently sold our car, and were looking for a used Subaru Impreza. My husband found one with mileage he liked and a reasonable price at Clay Subaru. We live in NH, about an hour and 40 minutes away from Norwood MA, so we called and spoke… to Daynna about the vehicle. Out of the blue, with no communication from Daynna, we started receiving emails, phone calls, and text messages from Will S about the car. He wanted us to fill out the credit application, send pictures of our licenses, and put down a deposit on the car right away. We liked the car, and wanted to hold it, so we had no problem doing this even though we had not seen the car yet. We communicated with Will about our budget for the monthly payment. Will said, in an email, that they would work to make it happen. We gave Will information that he would lose, and we'd have to give it to him again and again. Our first impression, before meeting him, was that he was extremely disorganized, and we were not looking forward to dealing with him at the dealership. There was no communication between coworkers at all. We allegedly set up a time with Will to be at the dealership at 9am. On our way down, we received an email saying they were expecting us at 12:45pm. This was a problem since we do not live close, at all. When we arrived, nobody helped us right away. We thought Daynna would be helping us, but we immediately got passed on to Will from Patrick. According to Patrick, Will S is his one of best sales managers-yeah right! Dave L. showed us the car briefly and we took a short test drive. We wished we had more time with the car. Dave seemed like a decent human being. Will, on the other hand, continued to unimpress us. After the test drive, we had to wait to meet with Will. Dave came out to get a down payment from us, and we had not even negotiated the price at all. When we finally met with Will, he refused to go down on the price and refused to look at the material that we had brought showing that the price was inflated. He was pushy, rude, disorganized, and [non-permissible content removed]. He would give us paperwork to sign, then take it away before we could read it. I am convinced that half of the our copies of the paperwork were put in his folder. He refused to give us a copy of the warranty plan information sheet that he basically forced us to purchase with the car. He quoted us a monthly payment that kept changing. Who even knows what our payment will be?! We felt very uncomfortable and dirty in dealing with him. It was rushed with him slamming keys on his keyboard and pretending to listen to us. We could not even take the car when we left since we live in NH and they have to send a runner, which is a separate fee of $150. He supposedly called some manager to ask if we could take the car without plates and said "I wish they had brought the plates." I said "I wish someone had told us to bring the plates." We will never buy from here again or take our car for service. We don't trust them, at all. Steer clear of Clay Subaru. Horrible service.Overall very positive!
by bralfo on 04/09/2012updated 05/28/2025Sales person was very respectful and conscientious of my time and needs. This is the fourth car I've bought here, but the first time since my favorite sales guy left. Fair value for my trade and $100 below Edmunds TMV. Only drawback was the… wait to talk to the Finance guy for that song and dance. If you know what you want, what you're willing to pay, and treat your sales person with the same respect that you wish to be treated with, then you can't go wrong here.Stay Away From Clay
by pieceofchum on 12/22/2011updated 05/28/2025I bought my car from Clay Subaru. They are a very high pressure dealer and I found them to be dishonest. I went there to buy a different car than I ended up with, which is is no problem but I didn't do the research for the car I bought. So… I buy the car get home go up on Clay's website and find that the car is listed online for more than $1k less than I paid. I was angry I did go back and they dropped the price and eventually wore me down and convinced me to buy the car. I told them I was concerned as the car was previously a rental and they said that they do a thorough inspection and that all the panels need to be original to the car etc. I have so far found that the hood is not aligned correctly and the front driver panel is not on the car correctly. They are a terrible dealership and I would never go back there again totally untrustworthy to the extreme in my opinion. My motto is Say No Way To Clay or Stay Away from Clay.

Hmm, I recently purchased a used car from Quirk Subaru in Braintree MA and they also installed aftermarket parts. Similarly bad dealership, I've done nothing but fix up this car--a head gasket, front axle twice because they put in an aftermarket part twice, engine mounts, timing belt, and there are still things that need to be fixed. Subaur of America, pay attention!
