  • Terrible Salesman

    My husband and I came in there a few weeks ago to look at new trucks. A salesman named PJ came over....very uninterested in what we were there for. Would only answer questions, did not willingly give up any info about your trucks. We asked him what the Z71 meant and he said "suspension".....that's all he said. At one point we were talking about payments and my husband asked about how much a payment would be for a truck on your sales floor...PJ says, "divide by 60". Seriously? We left after that and won't be back until my lease is up...then we will return the car and never come back at all.

  • Sneaky/Dishonest Employees

    I ended up buying a car, however the experience in dealing with this crew left much to be desired. Salesmen Patrick Crane and Manager, Troy Clemons, agreed to a price on a certified preown and then all of a sudden wanted to take away the certified/pre own warranty on the car if the price was lower as I was filling out paperwork. Tried to get me to pay more to keep that warranty part of it. Followed it up with a stream of lies in texts and emails about why it happened. Essentially acknowledged that they were being dishonest and shady. Ended up buying the car only after they agreed to the original deal. I said I wanted to have all the details put in writing and emailed to me so that I could verify things and then had them write up all the paperwork so I didn't have to spend more than a half hour at the dealership. As far as pricing goes they have competitive prices. George White Chevy in Ames had essentially the same vehicle with a few less miles for a lower price which I tried to buy but it sold before I could get my paperwork in. So they weren't the lowest price, but they were competitive. Would definitely verify anything I was told by these people in writing before doing business. And would look for a more honest dealership that was less smarmy, and less like your stereotypical used car salesmen first.

    Me and my wife have been looking for a newer vehicle for her for a while now and she know what she wanted which was a GMC Acadia! We had been looking for a couple of months and had the money finally to pay for it out right! So the last couple of weeks we were really searching found some we liked and some that got away from us well Monday late night 7/17/2017! I searched and searched areas all around us and even further from us! Found one in Chicago area we liked then found out it was in accident! Then another Elgin, Illinois and the one hear! My wife sent an email to Elgin and barely heard back after I called! Well I called Bob Brown and got a man named Mike Carley on Tuesday 07/18/17 and let me tell you from the time I heard his voice and told him what we were looking at and told him how far we lived away! He then told me well let me see if I can physically touch the car and see and get back to you I told him well before you hang up and do that if you do have it talk to your sales manager to see what your bottom price is! Because if we like it we will make the drive he said ok give me about 20 mins well 10 mins later he said I think you are going to like this price and let me tell you we did! I told him I would have to call my wife who was at work to see what she says Mike said ok call me after so I can get it pulled up and saved for you so you can come and test drive it! So we waited an hour to see if we would hear from the other dealership and of course we didn't I told Mike that he was competing with another dealership as well! I called him in hour and told well we need it saved cuz we are coming up to test drive it and if we like we are going to buy it out right with a cashiers check! He said that is great I told him how far we would be driving which is 2 hours and 45 mins away also told him what time we were leaving! Mike told me and my wife to have a safe trip and be safe and that he would have it sitting on hold waiting for us and he was there till 9pm! Also we told him if we do buy it since we had a long drive there and back we would like the paperwork to be as finished as possible till we got there! He said that is fine so he asked me for some info also took my wife's number so he could text her as we drove there to get all her info to make it fast as I drove us there! Well we got a little delayed leaving and then got caught in a huge storm in Iowa City that caused a delay there as well my wife text him after all that when we were 50 mins away he even checked on us when he checked the radar and saw the storm was there in Iowa City before she sent the text when we were 50 mins away! We wanted to make sure he wasn't waiting on us to eat! So we pulled up to park and we saw it and he had a welcome sign in the Acadia that had our names on it! Me and my wife just smiled couldn't believe it and were shocked at it told each other how sweet it was! We looked all over before going in without anyone hassling us and we walked in to finally meet the man behind the voice and text Mike Carley with smile on his face and shook both of our hands, asked us how the trip was said sorry about the rain and big storm and hope we were safe! He was very polite, friendly and just down to earth! We talked a little more and said ok lets go see your Acadia! He let us look over again from the inside and then he said well go take for a test drive I asked him to come with us since we didnt know the are and my wife would be driving it first since it was going to be her car! So he guided us to make sure she got a good feel for it and then let us pull over so I could see how it drove as well! We were so impressed with that also when we got back to the dealership he helped us with all our questions and helped with pulling the third row down and up along with middle bucket seats! Showed us how to use the remote start, locks and the back hatch which is all motorized which we are not used to at amongst countless other things! We told him we want it and we would take it! He said great lets go back and get the rest of the paperwork finished with insurance card! He had our license copied before we left as well as Dan Dunham asked for our zipcode and county before we left! Mike turned us over to Dan and our paperwork we asked to be done as much as possible till we got there was done and it were only in Dan's office for 5 mins! We wanted as painless as possible and Mike and Dan came through with all of that and more We found out on our trip up that my grandparents that live 3 hours away back when their kids were young bought a new car while on trip to South Dakota cuz theirs was over heating which was about 40 years ago and they had a great experience! Well let me tell you 40 years later me and my wife had an amazing exprience! Dan Dunham is a great finance guy that lived up to what we wanted and even more with our paperwork best finance guy I have ever dealt with! I have bought many cars from dealerships in my life and had good sales people but MIkey Carley takes the cake with how friendly, passionate, knowledgeable, compassionate, understanding, laid back salesman I have ever dealt with! He made us feel like family and made it so worth the drive to get my wife her dream vehicle which was the Acadia! He even called today Wednesday 07/19/17 to ask how the trip was back home and that we were safe along with we wanted him to check on something for us and he came through on that! What an amazing man! Other dealerships in the Des Moines area and where we come from in Quad Cities need to take note of all of this and do what you all do! I will be back for my newer used vehicle when its my time!!! Great job and will refer anyone to go here!!! Keep it up!!!

    The whole experience was great! I was kept up to date on all matters and was treated with utmost respect. It was an exciting and fun time, my previous vehicle was thirteen years old so it was time to purchase a replacement which has been a nerve wracking experience in the past. Tiffanee Hokel made it a flawless and fun experience, I can't say enough about how she genuine cared and paid so much attention to every detail. Tiffanee is a true shining star and Bob Brown has earned my respect and repeat business. Thanks to all the staff that was involved, they were all phenomenal.

    Made agreement over the internet to buy our new truck. When we arrived, everything was already done and ready for us (paperwork completed, OnStar set up, truck ready to go, etc.). Everyone was extremely nice and a pleasure to do business with. By far the best new vehicle buying experience we have ever had.

    Our sales assoc. Clyde Birks made it a pleasurable experience and he was down to earth, straight-forward and didn't give us the typical car salesman attitude/approach that we had received elsewhere.     The transaction was done remotely and could have been very difficult. Luke Bowers the salesman was involved in every step and kept me informed through the process. When the paperwork arrived for signing and notary, there were no last minute surprises. I am very happy with Bob Brown Chevrolet and would consider buying my next car through them in the future.
