Shop at a barn - get treated like an animal!
by Zoe L on 04/08/2025updated 05/14/2025I had high hopes purchasing my first brand new vehicle, but my experience at Autobarn Oak Park was extremely disappointing. When I arrived to finalize the sale, no one walked me through the car or explained a single feature — something… you'd expect at any dealership, especially one selling a luxury vehicle. I had to ask just to see the car before signing paperwork. There was no orientation, no overview, and no attention to detail during delivery. I wanted to transfer my plates which I had brought with me, and I was bullied into getting new plates by the staff. The car was dirty and I had to bring it back to be cleaned. The next day I realized the car had a sensor issue and less than 24 hours after purchase, I had to take my car in to be serviced and pick up a loaner vehicle — completely unacceptable for a brand new car. The general manager promised to resolve the situation and have the owner of the dealership call me. This never happened. I had to send two follow up emails before I got a response. The dealership did not honor the final price we had agreed upon — the financed price was higher than quoted price, and they would not honor their quote. When I raised these concerns and tried to resolve the issue directly with their team, their only offer was to take the car back, which did nothing to address the time, money, or frustration I had already invested. It also would also have left me spending additional time and money searching for a new vehicle. The entire experience felt rushed, impersonal, and dismissive. For a dealership representing a premium brand, the lack of transparency, customer care, and accountability was shocking. I would not recommend buying from this location. Update May 2025: On April 4, 2025, I purchased a brand new 2025 Volvo XC60 from Autobarn Volvo in Oak Park. Within 24 hours of driving the vehicle off the lot, it experienced issues and had to be brought in for service. Since then, it has required two additional service visits on May 9 and May 12, respectively. The vehicle has been malfunctioning or unusable for 15 of the approximately 30 days I have owned it. This dealership will not answer my calls or voicemails, and emails were largely ignored. Despite their initial willingness to help “undo” the deal, the dealership now claims it’s out of their hands and has completely backed away from any responsibility. I had already raised concerns about the high-pressure and confusing sales process, which left me feeling taken advantage of. Now, I’m also stuck with a $55,000 lemon. This experience has been both financially and emotionally draining. I’ve escalated the issue to Volvo corporate, but Autobarn has shown zero accountability or effort to advocate for their customer. I strongly caution anyone considering buying from this dealership. If anything goes wrong after the sale, you’re on your own.Let's cruise

Best Car Buying Experience in 38 years of buying Cars.

I got exactly what I wanted (V60 Cross Country Platinum) at a Very Fair Price without any pressure. Amazing Service including picking up the car to get it… detailed and bringing me a loaner and then delivering it back to me and picking up the loaner. Excellent Finance department. Fast, Efficient and no heavy pushing of expensive options. Just what might be useful like a $500 option for 5 years of Interior and exterior spot removal. I have 3 dogs and they can have accidents or I can spill coffee and this service will guarantee to get smells out of carpet or seats or they will replace the carpet or seat or whatever it takes to get smell out. This option gives me peace of mind if there are any accidents. I love my new Volvo and will refer any family / friends to this dealer when any are looking at new cars. Everyone I encountered at Autobarn Volvo was very helpful. I am an out of state… customer, but I would seriously consider driving into Chicago to have my new (used) car serviced. I highly recommend Autobarn Volvo to anyone in the market for a new or used Volvo. They are tops. And the best part is that I left with an awesome vehicle, one that is absolutely perfect for me.
