  • Fake advertising on prices

    1 out of 5 starsby Gumby_sd on 08/24/2018

They don't hold true to the advertised price. Tried to add $2500 to the advertised price for not trading in a vehicle. Putting $20,000 down and they got super petty and claimed it was an incentive. Incentives don't add to the price. Do your research here and on Yelp before you buy. They're dishonest and shady.

  • Unethical and Dishonest

    1 out of 5 starsby ebonse1 on 09/08/2017

Run away from this dealership! In my opinion this dealership has zero and are completely dishonest. My wife and I went in with a pre-approval from our bank. Our sales rep Kristi and sales manager Jared Hall lied straight to my face about having an "internal system" to pull our pre approval amount from our bank since it was a "preferred lender". We let them know we were not interested in the dealership trying to obtain financing for us. They assured us they had not pulling any credit or financing. We had a feeling something wasn't right when none of their numbers matched our banks terms and pre- approval, as well as Kristi scratching out numbers we asked about saying "oh, don't pay attention to those". We walked out. I contacted our lender in the morning and they verified there is no such internal system and they had agreed the dealership been lying to us to make a sale. I also received a notification that my credit had been pulled from Peterson Dodge. Upon seeing that, and talking to my bank, I got a hold of Kristi who did nothing but backpedal and blame the manager saying she had no idea. Jared has not returned my phone calls, nor as Jeff Hall the General Sales Manager who I have left repeated messages for. Zero ethics and dishonest.

  • Recent trade in

    5 out of 5 starsby b_mt on 06/06/2010

Peterson's had the car we were looking for. Jennifer hooked us up! She was always polite, helpful, and worked hard to get us the deal we were looking for......And then some! I drove over 500 miles (ONE WAY) for the car and deal we wanted. Tired? Sure, but happy with the way we were treated. All of the other dealers we contacted for similar cars were short and trying to sell me what they had, not what I wanted. Jennifer and Treg got us the car we wanted, the deal we wanted, and exceeded our expectations. I NEVER write reviews about businesses....They deffinately earned the first and best one I could come up with.
    • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! We LOVED working with you and your family as well! CONGRATULATIONS once again, looking forward to helping you for years to come! Jd

  • You people are awesome

We have bought new vehicles from Stampede Dodge 4 or 5 times prior and have always been satisfied with our service. Last Saturday we were more than satisfied, we were ecstatic. We bought an expensive motorhome 3 years ago about a year after we bought a Rubicon Jeep from Stampede Dodge. About 18 months later the economy took a nose dive and my husband and I took extensive pay cuts. We have been trying very hard to hang onto our motorhome but finally decided that we needed to get rid of our monster payment. We love to hunt, camp, fish, and be in the mountains. In order to get rid of the monster motorhome payment we have to trade it for a pull-behind camp trailer, hence, we have to buy a truck to pull it. We brought our Jeep in to trade for a Dodge truck. Our Sales people, Jennifer Devore and Elton Rudolph, chose a 2004 Dodge 3/4 Ton Diesel for us and it was exactly what we were looking for and more. While Peterson's was making out all of the paperwork we left to look at campers. When we returned Elton told us that he had some good news and he had some bad news. The bad news was that the bank wouldn't go 72 months on this truck but the good news was that the dealership gave us more money on our trade so that, for a 60 month loan, our payments would still be the amount of the 72 month loan. We were elated. We love our new truck. It is better than we could hope for. Treg Hansen, the finance manager, was very honest and helpful in the financing process and took excellent care of us. We will definitely buy from them again and are telling everyone how wonderful these guys are at Peterson's Stampede Dodge.

  • Worst Experience Ever

    1.4 out of 5 starsby devs_ps on 11/23/2009

We walked out of here and took our money elsewhere. Very difficult to work with and very intent on taking you to the cleaners. Process was slow....computers didn't work and kept losing info, wouldn't negotiate with us before trying to finance us even though we ALREADY had financing in place and didn't need them to get it for us. Never once walked out to look at our trade, just completely low-balled us even though we were standing there with current local trade-in values from all three guides. Over all the attitude of the sales/finance/management team was rude and disrespectful and we have to wonder how they sell any cars at all. Have bought and traded many vehicles over the years, but this was by far the most shady and bizarre experience I have ever had. Recently had a good experience with the service department, but due to the treatment we received in sales we won't even be returning for service. Serious thumbs down!
    • I am sorry that you had a bad experience but we definitely had the best experience we have ever had with a dealership with this dealership. The sales people; Jennifer Devore and Elton Rudolph, worked very hard to find us just the right truck and gave us above top dollar on our trade in. Treg Hansen, the financial manager, worked very hard to get us the approval that we needed. The overall experience was excellent and we greatly apreciate all of the help to get us into the vehicle that we needed with a payment that we needed. Thank you to everyone at Peterson's Stampede Dodge for making our experience the best one ever. Dean & Donna Rhoten

  • A Friendly and Enthusiastic Salesman

My wife and I were very pleasantly surprised with the friendliness and enthusiasm of our salesman, Steven R. He took his time in explaining all the numerous features and electronics of the car we were looking at. He's made several follow-up calls to ensure my understanding and to offer his assistance if I should have any further questions. He appeared to me to be very happy with his job and went out of his way to be friendly and courteous with both myself and my wife. I also want to mention Brett and Eddy in the detail shop. They were both very nice and did an incredible job detailing my new (used) car. I intend to bring my other two vehicles to them in the near future. Over the years, I've walked into dealerships where salespersons have pounced on me and tried all kinds of tactics to get me to buy a vehicle. This was not the case at Peterson's Stampede. Everyone we came in contact with seemed to appreciate the fact that we were shopping there. It was a unique experience. I might also add that I am extremely happy with my 2010 Chrysler 300c. Again, please pass on my thanks to Steven for being so nice and easy to deal with.

  • BUYER BEWARE!!!!!

03/11/2011. BUYER BEWARE!!! I purchased a used vehicle for my son from Peterson Stampede recently. I am a single (hard working) Mom. I paid Peterson in full for the amount we agreed upon. We had to return the vehicle (1) month later for numerous problems. I dumped money into the truck. The Managers said they would help us out. They did absolutely nothing to help. No compassion what-so-ever. They really 'took me.' I am an extremely dissatisfied and upset customer.
    • This is unfortunate, but not the norm. These are great guys, and I'm sure there's some details being left out of this complaint. I cant believe they would do absolutely nothing to help when all they did was help me.

The staff at Stampede Dodge, helped me search for several visits to find the right car. They reassured me that they would do the best to help me finance my car and I got my new car!!!!! My salesman was caring and helped me to learn all the new gadgets on the car. The financing staff worked hard to get me the best interest rate. All employees that helped with my purchase were very friendly and very helpful. I would recommend Stampede to everyone. Thank you for the great experience.
  • 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Freedom Edition Purchase

I am happy with the vehicle I purchased and the price I purchased it for. We started out with a dollar difference of over $22K and wound up with a dollar difference of $13K. I thought that was a very reasonable change in my favor so I purchased the Jeep, which I really like. I like these guys and would buy from them again.

  • Great salespeople old school sales managers

1 out of 5 starsby Lastbuy on 06/05/2014
    updated 08/03/2025

Great sales people, however they are simply puppets. The management is truly all business and little integrity. They advertise some of the lowest prices on the internet yet they are not achievable upon trying to write a deal up. Lots of old school games and zero transparency in the sales process. It's the old - here is the price, what are you willing to pay- then take it to the manager. In the two hours of waiting on prices and games, I was able to receive over the phone from two other dealers, the bottom price, incentives I qualified for and which ones I didn't. Sadly this dealership caters to the uniformed and emotional purchaser. I suppose someone has to. I expect one day I'll see a sign also offering free tax return preparation if you use your return for a down payment. This was my 5th purchase and my last. Too much work and lack of integrity in an internet and information accessible world. $800 delivery of vehicles from Colorado, Utah, Washington,Oregon and Montana. There is no need to buy local and get beat up. Even in finance, they tried to get a $30 credit union member fee from me because they chose to use a credit union for my financing, after I was told I needed to use dodge financing to get an additional discount. When I showed up to sign, it was 1% higher than quoted and higher than my own credit union financing I had already lined up. No biggie, after 4 months I can pay it off and refi with my own credit union and still have received the discount incentive. Bottom line, they simply make you feel like you're being sold rather than creating a client. FYI - this isn't an unsubstantiated rant- I am a local business owner and past chamber president. I get business and sales. Buy here only if you are educated and able to come prepared with a price and willing to stick to your guns. Do not give up your keys to your trade- Yes they even pull that old card- not giving your keys back to allow you to leave when you are wanting to end the negotiations. Simply be prepared and aware.
    • Almost 2 years later and nothing has changed, wish I'd found this review a week ago. Still looking for a car and I'm only certain of one thing and that is where I wont be going.

  • Used car purchase!

Absolutely fantastic experience purchasing a slightly used, 1 owner car! Both the general manager & used car manager really made us feel like they really valued our business! We paid a very fair price & the process was painless versus the usual long, drawn out experiences we've had buying autos at other dealerships. A salesman actually played catch with our 2 year old to keep him entertained while we wrapped up the paperwork! I would recommend this "above & beyond" dealership to anyone!!!! A+++
  • Buyer Beware

Not a very honest dealership. They got the very maximum money they could get from us and didn't even try to save us a dime. then they advertise a low number on a new truck to get you in the door but don't believe it cause its not a real number. Then they will lead you to believe you are the primary on the loan when its turns out to be your wife and you don't find that out til your first payment. Oh don't forget the down payment they decide to throw in there upon singning the final documents and them saying they needed to do that to get it financed but they will WORK with ya on that. We feel like we have been taken advantage of and hope you be careful when you go make a deal. If you wnat the best deal then I suggest you get the financeing approved before you go looking on there lot. Cause then you will have the last laugh. Alwso don't let them tell you they can get a better interest rate then you can cause they can't. all they get is a kickback from the bank when they do the financing SO BUYER BEWARE

Although they didn't have the car I ultimately ended up with, Ryan McCabe was kind enough to speak with me and listen to find out exactly what car I wanted and needed. We realized they didn't have the car I was looking for, but he still went the extra mile and help me research other Peterson dealerships in his office, which helped me find my new car without wasting time driving around! Thank you Ryan!
  • Could Have Been The Way We Wanted It

It started off as a pretty could new vehicle buying experience. Hand shakes, new vehicle/customer pictures, and all papers signed. Well, after coming back the next day to see what going on since we were out of towners. The financing did not go through with all the hype of, "We can Make it Happen" attitude going on the night before. We had to settle with a $3000 cheaper vehicle which turned out to be a much better choice after the fact. Here's the kicker. I'm a 24 year retired Air Force veteran and have been through the Gulf War. They failed to tell me there was a $500 rebate for vets on their website. Yup, after we forgot about the dealership experience and started to enjoy our new vehicle. We decided that this was the better choice.
  • Dishonest and greedy!!!

My husband and I went in to look at a 2011 Durango but unfortunately it had sold that day. One of the sales managers told us they could get us into a new 2012 for about the same price. They dropped the price a little and we got what we wanted for our trade. After a lot of back and forth, we finally reached a deal and left with our new car ordered and were told, by our salesman that we'd get any additional incentives in place when we took possession of the car. We did A LOT of online research and discovered a rebate and had also decided to secure our own financing. When the car arrived, we went in totally expecting to go through an easy process since we were so prepared. Once we told them we had our own financing in place, they decided to claim that the amount they had dropped the price was an incentive. In all our research there was never an incentive for the amount they were claiming. Our salesman, even when confronted, never spoke up about his claim about the incentives at the time of delivery and the sales manager raised his voice to us in the lobby at us like WE were the ones in the wrong. If you go to Peterson Stampede in Nampa, get EVERY detail in writing and know your stuff (the internet is your best friend) or you'll get screwed. They are dishonest, unethical, and greedy. Needless to say, we walked away from a car that we ordered and had been waiting to receive for 6 weeks AND we found a better deal at another dealership.

This team is highly recommended to all who are looking to purchase a new car. They helped me when no one else seemed to be able to work with me because I was a first time buyer. They got me a car that I wanted and was in my budget that I could have without a co-signing option and it was the best deal around! Not to mention they are extremely friendly and will do anything they need to to make sure you are happy and get the best deal possible.
  • Buyer's Remorse or Buyer Beware?

At the time of sale, I was made to feel very confident about the quality and reliability of the vehicle. It passed some inspection with flying colors, which I was told was a rare and awesome thing. The salesman even owned the same model, and told me how "problem-free" it was, etc. etc. Four months later (coincidentally just after the 3 month warranty) . . . Check engine light is on and Peterson wanted to charge me over $600 to "investigate the cause," the starter is clicking, the drive chain lurches, and I feel like there is a fine line between buyer's remorse and sketchy dealer practices. (My red flag should have been when a car that they "just got in" had a "was" price which was $2,000 higher than the "now" price - I asked them how there could have been a "was" price if they just got it in. They said it was a new pricing strategy they were trying - i.e., dishonesty).
  • Excellent service from Paul and Wes

I recently purchased a vehicle from Paul, a 2008 Scion. I've been around the car business for 30 years and I was absolutely blown away by the service he provided. Wes also assisted and between the two of them they made buying a car a fun and enjoyable experience. I came into it with trepidation now that I no longer have a family member in the business. They spent hours with me working to help me out of the vehicle I was upside down in. They could have given up, but they didn't. They invested the time and effort to treat me right and make sure I was happy. I couldn't have asked for more. Paul was absolutely honest, upfront and caring. I had high expectations and he surpassed them all. I have a tremendous amount of respect for him and how hard he worked. Wes also supported me and did everything he could to help. I am so impressed, please pass on my appreciation to both of them. You have a couple of outstanding employees working for you!
