Best Car Buying Experience

5 out of 5 starsby Dani on 01/18/2024

This was the best car buying experience I have had. I did not feel pressured and everyone I spoke with was friendly and knowledgeable. My RAV4 is perfect for my family and me. When we’re ready to upgrade, this is where I’ll return.

  • #1 Toyota Dealership

5 out of 5 starsby Dan on 01/18/2024

I 100% recommend Phillips Toyota for all your vehicle needs. When my car was in need of serious service they came through on pricing, walking me through everything, and talking me through a new vehicle purchase that could fit in my budget. They were kind and knowledgeable. If you remember one thing from this review it should be go to Phillips Toyota!
  • Very disappointed!

1 out of 5 starsby Victoria Kiniry on 10/01/2023

Contacted the dealership for an online car that was posted. They called us right away as well as sending us an email saying the car was available. They asked us if we could come see it today. We told them we were an hour away and they asked us to let them know if we would not be coming. We assured them we would come. We left for Leesberg got there in about an hour. They asked us to see the sales manager when we were on the phone, we were greeted by someone at the door who escorted us to a desk. She went and spoke to someone and returned soon after to tell us the car was not available, it was sold. Very disappointing that we wasted two hours.! I feel they could’ve at least called us to let us know if someone else was interested in the vehicle. And very hard to believe that it’s sold within an hour.! we called back to let the sales manager know we were not happy with what happened, up till now we have not spoken to him. He did not return our call.

  • Lost Sale

1 out of 5 starsby Lauren on 04/03/2022

We drove an hour to see a certain car we found online. Found the car on the lot ourselves and a man approached us fairly quickly. He did not say much, but we showed very clear interest in the car. He seemed put off when we asked to open the sunroof and even more put off when we asked for a test drive. He responded “well, are you interested in buying it?” Really? We just drove from Orlando. This dealer is obviously not motivated to sell anything as this cars been on their lot for 70+ days.

  • Horrible Customer Service. Don't buy a car here.

1 out of 5 starsby nyguyny on 12/06/2016

Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. My parents have purchased three new vehicles from Phillips Toyota. They aren't the type to haggle over price, nor are they people who take advantage of warranties. So I was shocked when I found out that they were made to pay for a faulty battery. Car batteries should last at least 4-5 years. Theirs died after just over two years, but because they had driven 961 miles over the 36,000 warranty, they had to pay. (They were well within the other limit of 3 years.) Any reputable dealership who values customer service would say, "Hm. They have paid full price for three vehicles? They have never brought this vehicle in for a single fix during warranty? Of course we'll take care of the faulty battery ourselves. After all, it's a faulty product that we provided." Well when I spoke to Tonya Stiver at Phillips Toyota, she said the exact opposite. "Toyota will not cover out of warranty, and we certainly won't pay for it out of our pocket." Outstanding. It's also worth noting that I first phoned them five days ago and left a message for their customer service rep, David Newton. I didn't leave details, only that I wanted to discuss a charge. It's been 5 days now without a return call. Further, Tonya tried to blame their faulty battery on my parents ("Maybe they don't drive the car enough."), which is insane. (They drive it at least every other day.) The tech guy, meanwhile, told my mother that she left a light on (she most definitely did not). You gotta love it when a dealership blames a customer for their own shoddy product. Better yet, when they pin it on corporate, which Tonya was very quick to do. ("It's out of our hands," she said.) Terrible dealership. Absolutely horrible customer service. Don't think about buying a car from Phillips Toyota if you expect any sort of reasonable care for you as a customer.

  • Awesome buying experience

    5 out of 5 starsby rhanley01 on 01/17/2016

I just purchased a new 2016 Tacoma from Phillips (working with Mikey Kuhn) and couldn't be happier. I visited a couple other dealerships that were pushy and charging too much. I got an 'out the door' price from Phillips (before I even visited the dealership) which was $1,200 cheaper than the 2nd best offer, and this truck included the premium package ($2,300 value) which the other did not. The entire sales process was fantastic with absolutely no pressure and the total cost was exactly what they quoted me. I was out of the dealership within an hour and couldn't be happier. I am a Toyota Lifer and even though I live in Orlando, I will never buy a vehicle from another dealership. It was well worth the drive!

  • A great car buying experience, - friendly and stress- free!

Phillips Toyota offers the best no-pressure, stress-free approach to car buying in this area. No games, just pleasant staff who are easy to do business with. (Thanks Chad!)

  • Great car great experience

    5 out of 5 starsby easyone455 on 09/05/2014

What a great deal on a much better car. I have been dealing with an other brand auto dealer after buying 4 new cars they could not do what Chad H at Phillips Toyota could do. I have known Chad for many years when he worked at other dealers, but I must say I feel that had little to do with the work he put into making me happy. In fact I am certain he will work as hard for you even if you just walk in and meet him. All the staff seems to really care when you shop there, you are more then just a stranger looking at cars. And the product well Toyota what more needs to be said. Great car great staff great deal........need more. Go in see Chad for yourself.
  • Bought 2 used cars in one months time!

5 out of 5 starsby ConsumerCritic on 07/31/2014

I judge a dealer on 2 topics: 1. The sales person who guides you through the process. 2. The actual deal itself, was it a real deal? 1. Lena W, the sales woman, was great. We bought a car from her for my son, and was so impressed with her honesty and not being pushy, yet answering all our questions the best she could without blowing smoke... I then proceeded to buy a car myself from her. 2. The dealer (Phillips Toyota Leesburg) I believe gave us two great deals AND GREAT financing, which help seal the deal in both cases. The dealership was high class, clean and a pleasure to visit.

Had a bad experience with a dealership in Clermont so we went to Phillips. Our salesman, Ashley, was the best. He worked very hard with us and the finance department to find us the best car for our budget. No pressure tactics, up front and honest pricing and listed out the cost after trade in, down payment, tax , tag and title (which the other dealership was not willing to do until the deal was signed). He filled the tank on our used car and threw in tinting. Few days later I noticed a piece of plastic hanging from the front spoiler. I called the service department and they advised that it was most likely damage caused by the previous owner and that they would fix for free. I have never owned a Toyota. I love my new used car and when its time to trade in or buy a new car, I will only buy it from this dealership. They really changed my mind about car dealers.

I worked with Jonathon over the internet and in person. He's very knowledgeable and genial. He lessened the stress of buying a new car considerably. I received offers from 3 other dealers, however due to positive past experiences with Phillips I chose to work with Jonathon. Buying the car at Phillips Toyota was a pleasurable experience. Thanks again Jonathon!
  • One Rude Car Salesman

Dealing with Phillips Toyota in Leesburg FL was anything but a joy. I had never purchased a car before, but my mother had. She helped me find a car that I (at first) didn't like, but it grew on me. She called the dealership and submitted all the paperwork online before we even drove over there because we didn't want to sit there for hours waiting to see if I was approved for a car loan. Days later we got a response back (after having to call multiple times to get the ball rolling) and I was approved. So, my mother and I drove to the dealership because the price online for the Hyundai Santa Fe was a great deal and I was already approved. The salesman that my mother had dealt with was named Mark R and he was busy with another customer when we arrived (even though we called ahead) so we test drove it alone and I loved the Santa Fe. I was interested in two other cars and had left the dealership before turning around and leaving a $250 deposit to hold the car. The next day, we called two hours ahead of time and let Mark know that we were coming and that he needed to have all the paperwork ready for me to sign because we were going after my mother got off work. We didn't want to sit there for hours just to sign papers. We arrived two hours later and he hadn't even written out the information about the pricing for the car, dealer fees, etc. So, we had to waste time for him to fill the info and for me to sign it and then he tells me that he forgot that we needed a new title for the car. So, he had to rewrite and recalculate it. I was really starting to get annoyed because this is what I wanted to avoid. After I finally finished signing some of the paperwork, he says that he'll be right back. Ten minutes later, my mother and I have already gone to the vending machine for sodas and started walking around the inside of the dealership because he still wasn't back yet. We had been there for an hour by the time he came back telling me that I needed to be reapproved by the bank since he dropped the price of the car. Since when does the bank need to reapprove someone for a lesser amount of money? So, we would have to come back again tomorrow to sign more paperwork and then get the car. Not only was my mother furious that we just wasted over an hour for a car that we couldn't even get that day, but he tried to lie to us saying that it needed to be reapproved. We walked out. The next day, I get a phone call from Mark saying how I had been reapproved and everything was fine and we could come in and pick up the car after signing a few things. I didn't even call back. The next day, he calls again and wants to know if we still want the car. I decide that I'll get the car since I got such a great interest rate and I loved the car. And, once again, we tell Mark to have all the paperwork ready so we can just get the car and go. Unfortunately, it didn't work out like that. We had called an hour ahead (and apparently that wasn't early enough) and he was just getting off his lunch break and he had three pieces of paper ready for me to sign. None of which being the important paperwork. He then told us that he would be right back. This time, he actually came back in under five minutes, but that was because he just came by to tell us that the paperwork was being printed right now. How many times did we have to tell him to have the paperwork ready? At this point, not only was I annoyed, but my mother was furious. They actually got into an argument in the middle of the room. He didn't seem to understand why she was so upset. She tried to explain that we had told him to have all of this ready, but he just brushed it off saying how they don't print off paperwork ahead of time because they only print paperwork when customers are here. That's just ridiculous. At one point, he even insulted my mother and called her a "mean person" and that we didn't have to buy the car. What salesman doesn't want to sell a car? Then he mentioned that while we were signing the rest of the paperwork, he was going to go and put in a full tank of gas in the car. Why didn't he do this before we drove over there? Why did he wait until we were already here when we had called ahead? I was literally about two seconds away from just walking away. Luckily for him, the man who was printing out the paperwork was done and we didn't have to deal with Mark anymore. the man who had printed off the paperwork was very nice. He explained what the important information meant and was the only positive thing about Phillips Toyota (not including the car). After I had signed all the paperwork, I was all ready to leave with my first car. But, once again, we had to wait for Mark to come back from putting gas in the car. After he finally got back, he shook both our hands as if the argument hadn't even happened, but I guess he wouldn't care since we bought the car. I will never buy another car from Phillips Toyota again. I've never met a salesman that would yell in the middle of the show room at a customer. He probably still has a job there either because his boss doesn't know about how horrible he is or his boss doesn't care. Either way, I will never buy a car there again. They just lost the future business of a 23 year old. Good job Mark (can you sense the sarcasm?).

DO NOT BUY A CAR HERE! They were deceitful and misleading. They tried to get us to sign a form which should have reflected the final sales price and amount we were financing without the form being completed. Only when I insisted it be complete did it reflect us getting over $5000 less for our trade than initially agreed upon. When it became apparent to us what they were trying to do, they had no logical explanation. I can only assume that they were hoping we would not ask too many questions or thoroughly read what we were signing. Not to mention their interest rate of 6.5% with what is considered an excellent A rating credit score (over 780). Do yourself a favor and make the trip to Orlando to buy your Toyota.

I was neverr treated so poorly in my life. I purchased a Sequoia from this dealer. After I purchased it I was treated like a criminal. Come to find out as well, the price they sold it to me for was 4200.00 over the price on their website and after I researched things found out they did not give me what I promised for my trade. What an ordeal, these guys should not be in business. Also purchased Zxilon protection for 899.00 and found it on ebay for 22.95. DO NOT GO HERE.......

I'm not understanding why the other reviews are negative. This is, by far, the most honest and professional dealership we visited when making the decision to buy a 2012 Camry Hybrid. We visited dealerships in Ocala, Gainesville, and Orlando, and NO ONE matched Phillips' price or professionalism of staff. Had both USAA's and PenFed's car buying service not recommended this dealership, we would not have found them and we would be the losers! Jonathon, Internet Sales Manager, was upfront and honest and professional and we liked him so much that we came back the next day to buy a truck from him for my husband! I swear! We knew what we wanted going in and how much we wanted to pay. As informed consumers, there was no way we would settle for a bad deal. However, we didn't have to! We were made to feel like family and the whole experience was seamless and stress-free. I will only use this dealership in the future.

I did not think Phillips would deal. To my surprise they quoted me a price $400 under TMV for a 2014 Avalon Hybrid and offered me exactly what I wanted for my trade. Jeff H. ws outstanding as a salesman. Very knowledgeable, courteous, and no pressure. They delivered the car at the price they promised. I hope this is the beginning of a long relationship.
