I bought a used CPO car here. The price was a bit more than average, but I was shocked by the vehicle's overall excellent condition. I am pedantic: I had a checklist in mind, did outstanding research beforehand, and visited 6 other dealers… already at that point. I can say that it was the best car at the moment.
When we requested a quote, the out-of-the-door price was significantly higher than anticipated. I knew all the mandatory and extra fees, so I could confidently negotiate. Eventually, I negotiated the price to the level I initially wanted, but with one condition - buy today. Overall, the dealer's negotiation process was professional.
The documentation process is smooth, I'd say good enough. We spent maybe 2 hours to complete. From the concerns I had:
1. Warranty documents were not provided, so I had to insist on them.
2. The car was not fully ready to be shipped, and I needed to visit the dealer once again so they could finish the VW CPO inspection checklist.
Other than that, the car is just perfect.

Terrible experience, stay away!
by Josephdi68 on 12/04/2018I had previously leased 3 vehicles from Gunther through the same salesperson (9 years). Last week I was given a firm price for a Lease on a New Tiguan and the next day went for the test drive, after the test drive and liking the car, the… price was jacked up $14 a month, no price increase before the test drive, only after we liked it. The salesperson informed me that Janos Turoczi (Sales Manager) told him that was the new price. I wrote to Vinnie (General Manager) and Jay Gunther (Owner) about the situation and no one seemed to care. I guess this is their new sales tactics. They are acting like a used car lot that customers dread going to.Great dealership!!!!!

The 120k service in addition to other wear and tear service was pretty pricey but Arlon helped me prioritize and come up with a plan to get certain things done periodically… over time (next few weeks). Arlon and his techs were patient, helpful, and very thoughtful when it came to my situation of needing so much done. Arlon followed up constantly and even emailed me detailed price breakdowns for each service item needed. I keep coming back to Gunther because of service like this, especially from Arlon, Germaine, Jose, among others.Best car buying experience I have ever had
by anmasa on 03/03/2015I had just had a car accident the Tuesday before the Saturday I bought my car...it was not my fault but my car was totaled and I was devastated. I decided that since the last time I bought a car for practicality I was going to buy a car… that I really enjoyed this time. So a friend of mine helped me research and we found exactly the car I wanted at Gunther Fort Lauderdale in immaculate condition (or so it seemed online). I was nervous that the car would be gone by the time I got to the dealership so I wanted to get there first thing on Saturday. I met Frank as soon as we got to the used car section of the dealership and told him what I was there for. I test drove the car and fell in love with it - it was definitely in great condition and exactly what I wanted - Frank was exceptional with all the information I needed to know regarding the car and I was happy to hear it was certified which made a huge impact on my purchase decision. I was impressed with Frank's knowledge about VW and learned even more about the car I was interested in buying than I expected to.I met Pete also who helped me out a bit in the decision making process by giving me an offer I couldn't refuse. Last but not least, Zaid was really helpful with figuring out what my needs were with regards to financing - he went the extra mile to make sure it was something I was happy with. I have purchased many cars in my lifetime, some new and some used, and I must say that this was the best car buying experience I have ever had in my life. I will definitely recommend Frank and Gunther as a whole for a smooth and painless experience and dare I say, enjoyable experience. I will be back when I need a replacement someday - in the meantime I will enjoy my new "used" VW Golf as long as I can.I will keep buying here
by elizaley on 02/28/2015We were looking for a VW Jetta SE W/Connectvity and Gunther had it the one we wanted. The price was very easy to negociate. The salesman Tomas did not disappear once to go ask the manager anything he had all the answers and the authority he… neede to approve the sales price. I also felt Tomas was direct and honest about what he could do. The finance manager for closing and signing all the paper work was also very good. He was honest with all the extra options and did try and talk us into buying something we did not want or need. It has been a week since we bought this car and feel great about our purchase. I have to say it is rare the buy a car and a week later not feel like I was cheated. The only thing that I would like to see improved is the time it takes to get the paper work ready. Once it was ready it only took 10 or 15 minutes to review and sign. I hope to buy more cars from Gunther and experience that I bought a great car without being scammed or pressured.Outstanding Experience

by jaytrod on 09/16/2009My check engine light came on while driving home from work a couple weeks ago (right after my warranty is up, go figure), so the next day I bring it into Gunter Volkswagen on 441 in Plantation. $110 just to perform the engine diagnostics… test, which many non-dealership shops will do for free (including Pep Boys). After they diagnose the car I get a call telling me I need a new blower hose, new spark plugs, new air filter, and there is "an oil leak somewhere in the engine system." I am told this will run me another $1,300.00.. I did some research and found that the most important thing to fix would be the blower hose as this will cause many problems in the future. So I had them go ahead and fix the blower hose which I was quoted it would be $500. A couple hours after I tell them to go ahead I get a call, "once we got the car apart we found some plastic parts that are cracked and they need to be replaced, thats going to cost an extra $150." They already have the car apart so I say just do what you need to so I can get driving again. $650 later I get my car back, engine light is off. Halfway home it pops back on again and the car starts running just bad as it was before. I think to myself, " ok well it must be the spark plugs or air filter like they said it could be." I go to my local auto store, spend 12 dollars on spark plugs and 25 on an air filter, go home and install them myself. Once I get the old plugs and filter out I realize they did not need to be changed AT ALL. I Install them all, start the car, same problem... There is no way I'm bringing the car back to Gunther after they lied about the filter and plugs, fixed something that wasn't causing the problem I brought it in for, and misquoted me by $150 on top of it. So I bring it to a little shop around the corner from my office.. 1 1/2 hours after dropping it off I get a call that one of the coil packs that connects the spark plugs to the electrical system is fried and it needs to be replaced, something that was NEVER mentioned by the "authorized" VW dealership. I was also told there was no oil leak to be found, that the engine was just running a bit rich and needed to be adjusted. So even if I decided to pay the $1300.00 in the beginning I still would have ended up bringing it back, not to mention they would have been working on a "phantom" oil leak and would have most likely come across some more "craked plastic parts " that needed to be replaced while doing so (which I have a feeling they broke the plasitc parts themselves while disassembling the car to connect the blower hose). And who knows how many times I would have brought it back before they actually figured out what the real problem was. 5 hours and $180.00 at the other service shop the car is running like new with no problems. You would think a real VW dealership would know more about their brand of cars than a mom and pop auto shop, but I guess not. BEWARE OF GUNTHER VOLKSWAGEN'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT.. THEY LIE, (OR JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL THEY ARE DOING), OVER CHARGE, & RUN UP THE BILL EVERY CHANCE THEY GET.
