I was able to shop in a low-pressure environment with lots of choices. When it came time to… negotiating and settling on final prices, Misha M. & Johnny B. (manager) were communicative and amiable, not hostile as some dealers get when making a deal. When it came time to financing and closing the deal, Jesus B. took time to explain everything and were all smiles. Lies around every turn
by johnvantine on 04/24/2017My wife, daughter and I came into the dealership early on a Saturday afternoon. I knew which car I wanted already, and what I was willing to pay for it. Our smooth talking salesman insisted that he was on my side, but was caught in a lie… multiple times. He told me that a vehicle with the exact trim I wanted was at a sister location, and that he was having it brought over for a test drive while we talked prices. I told him that I had dinner reservations with out-of-town family, and HAD to leave at 6pm. Surely 5 hours would be enough time. We discuss prices and options, and hours later the car still isn't there. It turns out it was never on it's way. We leave (and are very late for dinner), and I never see the car. We had our daughter with us as well, and dragging an 8 year old through hours of drudgery without even seeing the car was infuriating. Foolishly I came back the next day (since it was our only option to get the trim and color we wanted anywhere in a 100 mile radius) and experienced more of the same. Lies abound regarding the cars location. It was also clear that there was discussion behind our back in an attempt to keep us from leaving in frustration. After a few hours, calls back and forth between their sister locations, not knowing where the car actually got moved to, etc, they finally drove us to another location to see the car, and after wandering around in a massive lot for about 30 minutes looking for it, we finally saw it. I knew I wanted this car - I needed it for an upcoming move, and I just wanted to be done with the entire process. We negotiate all of the extras that I want at a price I am comfortable with, and I tell him I won't pay a dollar more. We agree and shake on the deal, and I head to financing. Lo and behold, the price is about a thousand dollars extra. They charged me separately for LoJack even after being told that it was included in the final price. My jaw was on the floor. This was also after about 10 different aggressive upsell attempts, which, while not offensive inherently, we were exhausted from spending half of hour weekend in the dealership, and had made it very clear we were in a hurry. We get everything squared away and end up paying the extra charges for LoJack because we were exhausted and had no time left to spend at the dealership that weekend. Is that how they get you - they wear you down until you're exhausted and then sneak additional charges in at the last minute? Well, it doesn't end there. I come to pick up my new car a few days later... The "brand new" car had 68 miles on it, a scratch on the drivers side door, and discarded peanut shells from someone's snacking in the cup holder/on the floor. I've received rental cars in better condition. To their credit, they did buff out the scratch, but this entire process was draining, and I felt like I was being tricked at every turn. It felt like a game, and no matter how forward and clear we were about our desires, price points, and timeline, there always seemed to be some other deception, failure or frustration. This was my first new car buying experience, and it was riddled with all of the cliches of the shady car dealership. I'll never shop here again, and my guard will be up even more the next time I shop for a new car.Johnvantine, we certainly don't want our customers to feel this way when they leave our location. by sasquatch32 on 03/07/2017Normally in my experience car salesmen are pretty self serving. They will say whatever it takes in order to make a sale... I recently purchased a Mazda 3 from Galpin and I have to admit that going in, I was on my guard. Coming from a… customer service background I have always been able to tell when salesmen are full of it. That being said, I was honestly taken aback by the stellar service I received upon my visit. Misha was relatable, understanding and not pushy at all. Now I'm not a car guy at all, and my mistake might have been telling him that... But much to my surprise he didn't take advantage of that. He answered every question I had in detail (and don't worry, I didn't just take his word for it. I went home and did my homework first). Even though I didn't buy anything that day and I even told him that I wouldn't, he was still very patient and professional. He gave me his personal phone number and told me to call him if I had any questions... I feel bad because I must have called like 10 time is 3 days. But he always took the call or got back to me within a few minutes. I went back and bought the car with total confidence. This is my first Mazda and so far I'm very happy. Great job Mazda, Kia's loss
by lamancuso on 07/03/2016My neighbor took me to Kia Sherman Oaks to get a lease on a Kia Forte5. He had recently gotten a lease there and was happy with how everything turned out and his deal was great. We show up on Friday evening, 8:08p, and I'm ready to lease… the car baed on the advertised offer. I'm there to basically decide on color. We walk inside, a guy in a red shirt walks up to us and recognizes my neighbor from his previous deal. Is this person an agent? No. Is there an agent who can help get me in a car that night? No. Are you open? No. Why they even had the lights on, I'm not sure. There were a few people there, but all the agents had left apparently to get ready for the July 4th weekend the next day. Is there anyone you can call to show us the car? No. Flabbergasted, we left. My wife and I had recently bought a Mazda CX-5, and so we head over to Galpin up the road. Galpin is very busy. All agents are full, but they have two people who come in to help me out. I'm looking at a Mazda 3 hatchback and right away it's a different experience. Todd Kessler and Lana Krizki helped me find exactly what I was looking for. It took hours because we had to wait for a financier (they were very busy that night), but Todd and Lana took care of us while we waited with whatever we needed. I left happy. worst experience of my life.
by Kegatron on 05/16/2016Everything seemed to be going well until I sat down to sign the papers. That's when my wife and I started to notice that many of the things that were promised to us by our "car shark" named Jasmine were not true. I'm not naive, I understand… that dealers promise many things in order to get you to sit down, but this was my worst experience ever. Not only was the price changed dramatically with the usual hidden fees, they also tried to add GAP insurance that Galpin sells themselves onto my tab. Jasmine told us up front that GAP was INCLUDED (we asked because we have been burned before) and then she tried to play dumb and couldn't remember. We almost walked out right there, but they "negotiated" them selves down to a lesser price which we accepted. We were also told that our Lease trade in would be handled by them, and that we would NOT incur the turn-in fee for the vehicle. Jasmine showed me the vehicle condition form she was supposed to fill out and then said, "We don't need to do this, I've never done it, not sure how to even do it." So we gave over our keys, bought our new car and took off after a WAY too long experience. The next day Jasmine calls me panicked that THEY forgot to ask for our down payment check. They forgot, but they wanted me to drive back over there to pay them. I did this for them, and then a week later I started getting calls for our old leased car. Turns out that GALPIN never filed the paper work on my old car and apparently even though I traded it in, it was my responsibility to handle this issue. I called Jasmine and she could not locate the car or the paperwork for 2 weeks, meanwhile I am getting harassed by a collection agency. After it was finally resolved, I got a BILL for nearly $1000 from the old lease. It included the turn-in fee and damages to my car that were never expressly written down by GALPIN MAZDA at the point of trade. Since they also "lost" my car for 2 weeks, I can not be sure it was not while it was under their care. Their response, "It's not our problem." I will never use Galpin again, and I have already gone out of my way to warn others about this experience. Never trust a car dealer, but just don't even bother with Galpin anything, they are [non-permissible content removed].Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Deceptive sales people

Internet person i was supposed to meet "left home," but i saw him moments later talking to the salesperson i was working with. The Edmunds price promise print out did the work but… "lojack was not an option you can opt out of" so i had to add $500 for a third party add on. Next, knowing i can get 0.9% rate with chase because of chase mazda partnership I turned down 2.4% apr that saleperson said i can get from chase. As i was preparing to leave sales manager pushes 0.9 deal on me, but too late buddy too late. Got my mazda 6 from Santa Monica mazda for $300 less than edunds price promise. Great car buying experience!
by astarbllr on 11/26/2015I bought a 2016 Mazda CX-5 here earlier this week. I had done my research and gotten quotes from various dealerships nearby. A while ago, a friend of mine had recommended a family friend/salesman, Michael Moses and they put me in touch… with him. Michael called me and when I explained that I had the quote, he said that he would match it. Given my experience at other dealerships, I was skeptical but my friend reassured me that he had dealt with Michael many times before and he was great. He made an appointment to see me that same night. Once we got to the dealership, Michael was really great, friendly, and warm. He asked what car I wanted and asked for the quote and right away said he'd be able to match it no problem-- just as he had promised to over the phone. I also had another certificate from going to the LA Auto Show and he honored it too. After running my credit, he walked with me over to the sales manager and told him that I came in with the quote and that he wanted to match it-- the manager agreed (None of these games that other dealerships and salesmen play where "OH, let me go to my manager and see what we can do... I'm on your side and I'm going to go put my punching gloves on so I can fight to get you the best price" --- ACTUAL quote from a prior buying experience at another dealership). It was very clear that Michael was a very respected salesman and that the manager respected and even deferred to his expertise. They found the car I wanted in another lot and started driving it over and even gave us free dinner at the Galpin Restaurant as we waited for the car to be transported. My wife and I kept on waiting for the "games" or the "catch" to start but there were none. After many high fives, fist bumps, and hugs, we walked out of the dealership in the EXACT car we wanted at the EXACT price we wanted. It was such a great experience. We've already gone and told our friends and family about it too so that they can go see Michael. He really made us feel like family.We are glad you chose Galpin to purchase your vehicle. Philip Policarpio has been our Sales Consultant on every deal and he just did… two terrific deals for my wife and I. I traded in a 2008 MAZDA Tribute with 247k miles and my wife's 2010 MAZDA 6 had 123k miles. We got a terrific price on both cars and drove off with a 2015 MAZDA CX5 and the a zippy MAZDA MX5. GALPIN Mazda has the selection, service and deal-making attitude I look for which is why I won't go anywhere else. Wonderful lease experience

A dear friend had a fantastic experience working with Todd Kessler and… recommended I reach out to him. He said Todd was super knowledgable and not a hard sell. I reached out to Todd and had a long discussion about the cars I'd researched and my newly formed car wish list. I made an appoint for the new day. I worked with Todd to narrow down my selection and he really felt the Mazda 3 would give me the most car for the money. He had me work with Tony McGilchrist with Galpin Mazda for my test drive and further discussions. It worked out perfectly. Tony was delightful to deal with. I ended up finding the perfect car to lease. The Mazda3 I Grand Touring. We worked on a possible deal and I explained that I needed to come back another time before completing the deal. I wanted to thinking about it and be sure. Although I knew right then, this was the car for me. It was more loaded than I ever expected...so much amazing technology. I realized I was driving a dinosaur. Both Todd and Tony were available to me over the next couple of days when I had new questions. The negotiation process was super straightforward...and the official lease signing was a breeze.
