Awesome Purchase Experience!
by Mhenry557 on 08/27/2014Our experience at Coastal couldn't have been any easier. The purchase of our new Chevy Cruze diesel was one to be remembered, from the friendly advice over the phone to the outstanding customer service received at the dealership. Our… salesman even found us an employee friends and family discount thru GM that we didn't even know about! Shop with confidence here, as I know we will again in future. The people were very friendly and helpful
by cammi on 10/29/2008I bought a used car from this place a few months ago and I love my car. The people there were really nice and the finance manager explained everything. They did not make me feel pressured to buy and they answered all of my questions, even… when I asked about price. This is a great place to go if you hate the pressure of regular car salespeople.Beware this dealer - they will lie to you endlessly just to make a sale!
by sven800 on 02/26/2008If you can help it, buy from someone else. These guy will cheat you. My car died recently, and I needed a new vehicle for a new job I was starting the following week. My parents were nice enough to loan me the money needed to buy a used… car, but with the condition that I buy a specific make, model and within a specific year range. After searching several online listings for used car, I ended up calling Coastal Chevrolet Cadillac Nissan. They has a used vehicle that fit the criteria I was looking for: A Toyota Corolla, 5 to 7 years old, under 90k miles. So I called them up to get more details about the car, as their dealership is roughly a 200 mile drive from where I live. This is where the lies started: First thing I asked was if the car had been inspected by them. I was assured that it had been. (1 st lie). I also asked about the shape of the car and was told that it had usual wear and tear. The last question was about whether this vehicle had been a smoking or non-smoking vehicle. I was told it had been a smoking vehicle, but there was no noticeable smell. So I decided to buy the car. I had the bank make out a cashiers check and rented a vehicle to get to their dealership. it turned out that the car was not as advertised. All of the door seals were broken, with the rubber torn or missing. The plastic covering the interior trim pieces surrounding the door openings was pealing off on all four doors. The seats had cigarette burns and the interiors smelled a lot like smoke. This should have been a give away, but since the car did not smell like smoke I dismissed it (It must have been aired out and sprayed with Fabreeze that day, as the smoke smell took over three months and several additional bottles of Fabreeze to finally go away). There were several dent and scratches as well, which I did not notice until the next morning, as the sun had gone down shortly before I picked up the vehicle. I decided that the door seals would be simple enough for me to fix myself (new parts = $200), and the vehicle looked ok otherwise, so I decided to buy. As I signed the paperwork I was assured that they would take care of any major problems with the vehicle. I wish I had gotten that in writing. I drove the vehicle back that night happy with my purchase. I spent the next couple days packing to move to a new city for my new job, and did not drive the car much. About a week later I noticed a burned oil smell coming from the engine. After taking the vehicle to a local dealer I found out that the engine had bad engine seals. The engine would need to have those replaced. The dealer also informed me that there was almost no oil left in the engine. After calling Coastal Chevrolet Cadillac Nissan I was told that they would not pay for the repairs. So I bit the bullet and had this issue fixed (~$600). After fixing the seals I got a second call from the local dealer telling me that there was a rod knocking around the engine, and that the engine would have to be rebuild or replaced (~$3500-$4500). This was almost as much as I paid for the car. So I called Coastal Chevrolet Cadillac Nissan again, to see if they would make good on their promise of fixing the car if anything went wrong. I was told that they felt no responsibility for what had happened with the vehicle. Not to mention that the smelled like someone had been chain smoking in it by this point. So not only did this dealer lie to make about having checked out the vehicle before selling it to me, they also lied about the condition of the vehicle, and did not follow through on the promises they made when I purchased the vehicle. In addition to this I have strong suspicions that the vehicle I bought was never checked in the first place, as these issues should have been caught. Avoid this place!I bought a used 2004 Volkswagen Jetta from this place and I love my car. It did have some dings in it when I bought it, but they did have someone fix them like they promised. They also had the car checked out by the mechanic and I have not had a single problem with the car, but I bought an extended warranty just in case something happens later on. I had a very pleasant experience at Coastal Chevrolet Cadillac and I would recommend them to anyone. Also, get pictures of a car before you drive 200 miles to see it. Everyone has a different way of explaining how a car looks or smells.
I too bought a used car from this dealer. Your problem is very self evident. You obviously did not take the time to actually do your part of the deal and that was to "LOOK" at the car, DRIVE the car and inspect or if you are not a mechanic... HAVE A MECHANIC LOOK AT, DRIVE AND INSPECT!!! DUH you whining MORON. You drive 200 miles and expect that the car should be all you think it should be ... why? Because?? Grow up and get real. I actually went in the DAYLIGHT and LOOKED at the car. I got a great car and a great deal from this dealer. Like the other review said, no pressure and they were very helpful. I think the person that wrote the bad review is just an idiot.
