Great Experience

by prof9 on 06/11/2015

We got lost trying to find the dealership (GPS was NO help) and so arrived at 4:30 when the dealership was scheduled to close at 5, having come from over an hour away. Rick and our salesperson, Daniel Melville, never gave us any sense that they were anxious to close, however; they answered all our questions, took us for a test drive, and talked to us until after 6, yet never pressured us to buy. The next day Daniel followed up; he had found a car that was exactly what I wanted, an XC60, the right color with all the features I wanted. Negotiating the lease was easy and I feel that I got a good deal. I just picked up the car and LOVE it. Daniel carefully explained all the features and has followed up since. I feel that I can call on Lovering if I have any questions. Overall this was an excellent experience. I would add that we have a Volvo dealership down the street from my house; I chose Lovering because it is far superior, even though I had to drive 1.5 hours! Highly recommend!

nice salespeople, bad management

by pepid1 on 04/25/2015

this dealership makes a huge deal about it's 3 day return policy. I wanted to return a car within the stated 36 hours but was told that the clock started, not at 4:00 p.m. on a Friday when I took possession, or even at 3:00 p.m. when I arrived but the 3 day return policy started at 9:00 a.m. , six hours before I even saw the car. I was treated like a criminal. I cannot believe it but I actually came back in search of a good deal on another Volvo at the Concord store. This time, the salesperson inverted/copied/ the mileage wrong, as being 10,000 miles but it really had 40,000. The sales person, Gary was just copying what someone else wrote. Gary is a good sales person. I returned this car because it had more miles on it than was presented. The Manager of the Concord store could not be bothered with coming out of his office to apologize for their mistake. Gary did. Finally, months, later, last week, (heaven knows why) I went to the Nashua store and was treated like crap. After two hours of test driving with Donna. (nice and knowledgeable) the guy who estimates the value of trade-ins told her that he was in a meeting and would cll me in two more hours with the value of my trade. He must have gone to his computer and it probably said do not sell a car to this guy. How much do you bet that my side of the story is not in the computer. Get specific about the 3 day satisfaction return policy, get it in writing and verbally.

Excellent Purchasing Experience

by NHReviewer on 09/30/2013

We visited Lovering Volvo, Nashua, with the idea of purchasing a Volvo XC60. We had never purchased a Volvo before, and were replacing our Ford Expedition. Based on the reviews online at various sites, we chose Lovering over other dealerships, and Nashua was closest to us. The first night we visited, we were under the impression the dealership was open until 8pm. We had some trouble finding it as our Maps navigator kept sending us to the wrong part of Nashua. When we finally did arrive, we discovered after entering and looking around for a bit, that the dealership had closed 30 minutes prior to our showing up. Nevertheless, a sales agent who had been preparing to leave for the day spent all the time we wanted with us answering our questions. We felt terrible to take up her time, and we asked for her name so we could come back the next day and purchase a vehicle. She said she was off that weekend. We couldn't believe how wonderful she was to spend so much time with us with no payoff to herself. She just genuinely cared about helping us. We returned the next day with an extremely favorable opinion of the dealership. After looking around again, someone only asked us if we would like a salesperson after it became clear we were ready. I found the absence of "vultures circling the lot waiting for prey" not only refreshing, but excellent business practice. Our salesperson, Jeremy, was extremely affable, knowledgeable, and helpful. He explained the car's features to us, and offered any test drive we wanted to take in any vehicle we wanted to consider. We never felt rushed or pressured--EVER--and we were treated with respect. As far as haggling, the dealership started with a fair number, and we only needed to negotiate slightly. There was no game-playing, and I never felt there were any backroom deals/scams occurring behind the scenes. Their prevailing philosophy was to make it work if we wanted to purchase a car, and he was willing to show us other cars at various price points. In addition, we were given the keys to the test vehicles and told to just go and drive. There was no one breathing down our necks during the test drives, so we felt we could be honest about discussing the car we were driving. I read the first reviewer's comments above, entitled "bait and switch," prior to visiting the dealership. We were watchful for any monkey business, but I was also reassured that where someone has posted a negative review (and there weren't many) on a website , the dealer took the time to respond. It became obvious to us the dealer had made every effort to try to please the customer and provide some solution. That modus operandi characterized our experience exactly. We purchased our vehicle and I couldn't get down to pick it up, so Jeremy actually delivered my new car to me, and he even showed up with flowers in tow! He took all the time I needed to show me how to drive my new car, while his "ride" back to the dealership waited patiently. We have never purchased a Volvo before, but I doubt we will purchase anything else from here on out. One automobile reviewer stated the XC60 has more safety features than a panic room--music to my ears!-- and it really was true. We could not be happier with the car, so far, or the dealership. Time of course will tell as to the dealership's responsiveness to any issues that come down the line later, and time will tell as to the car's reliability, but we have high hopes. I believe that's more than anyone can expect when purchasing a vehicle.

...Where the old "bait and switch" is alive and well.

by MrHockey on 07/09/2013

Had been shopping on-line for a pre-owned Volvo S80. Spotted a good candidate at a good price advertised here. I called the dealership and inquired whether that specific vehicle was there and available (spoke with the sales person I had seen just the day before on another vehicle). GREAT! Told him I was leaving my house that moment and on my way to see that vehicle. Now, understand it is almost an hour's drive for me to get to this dealership. On arrival, I waited some 20 minutes (granted it was fairly busy) and was then informed that the car had been sent out on a test drive with another customer and could I wait around. I did so and after 40 minutes was told that the present customer was "working up numbers" on the vehicle. Realizing I had been sca-rewed over, I left the dealership (another hour ride home). I received a half-hearted apology eMail from the GM there with the offer to check out a couple of other S80s they had there (of course newer AND more expensive). Never been more disrespected in my life.

Complete and Educational

by matt167 on 01/29/2013

We purchased a 2012 XC60 just one year ago and the sales and delivery exerience was exceptional. It was a seemless transaction and the sales associate was very clear on all of the instrumentation, and has continued to follow up on our enjoyment of this great vehicle. I would always recomend Lovering Volvo to anyone purchasing a vehicle.
