I was surprised to learn how comfortable this car is. I drive a lot and didn't want bad gas mileage or a vehicle that hesitated. The seats are SO comfortable, the ride is quiet, bigger interior room, including the back seat. Stylish interior and easy controls with many options. I can feel this difference when I put in AWD and if I choose sport mode too. I love driving this around town, the highway and can't wait for a long distance vacay in this. I chose the color, Hyper Red which is really a gorgeous color. These vehicles have truly come a long way and it surprised and impressed me for the 2020. Oh and I'll add, I researched vehicles on my own and nobody talked me into trying out this vehicle. I had to share my new found wisdom here!

I just returned from a 1,200 mile trip in my 2020 Kia Sportage S with premium package. Nothing like a long trip tp get to know your vehicle! I can say I'm very pleased with the vehicle. It rides smooth, it's comfortable, and rides quiet. Using Google maps on Android Auto was great. My Garmin never came out of the console compartment. The driver assist technologies worked good as well. It took awhile to get used to the adaptive cruise control and to get It adjusted to a reasonable following distance. I had a Kia Sorento prior to the Sportage and was a little concerned about downsizing but the trip eliminated any concerns I had. I have had this vehicle a little over three years now. It's been problem free needing only routine maintenance. Fuel mileage is good, I consistently get around 26 mpg with combined city and highway driving. I have always been pleased with the "pep" the vehicle has for the standard 4 cyl. It's easy to maneuver and has a sporty ride. It's one of the best vehicles I have owned.

This car is fantastic! I’m 6’0” and 220 and I couldn’t be more comfortable. I read a review where someone said it didn’t have much headroom for a 6ft guy. I don’t know what car he was driving because there is tons of room over my head in the front or back seat. My model does not have the power seats and there’s not a lot of adjustability but they are super comfy as is. We came from an 2014 Subaru Forester and this car out performs it in almost all categories. We were concerned about the cargo space because it was a little smaller but we can still fit all the same camping gear in it that we did in our forester. With 1/3 of the back seat down we can fit 2 large plastic totes, 2 small totes, a 55qt cooler, 3 duffel bags, 3 bike helmets and 3 camelbaks. It’s tight but it was in the forester too. Gas mileage has been about 25 avg. All the controls are very intuitive. The Bluetooth hooks up every time. Apple car play is super sweet! We haven’t had the car long but my family agrees it’s the best car we’ve had.

Traded my 2018 kia Sorrento in for a 2020 sportage. I thought i downsized and would be disappointed. I loved my Sorrento. I'm very happy with the shortage. Drives smooth. Plenty of room. Stylish look.

Have had it so far for about 6000 miles, great experience so far. What really sealed my love of this vehicle is the way it performed when a van ran out in front of me almost causing an accident. I quickly swerved and hit the brakes, the car compensated and maintained control helping me avoid a bad situation. Very very happy with the 2020 shortage.

Had to get a new vehicle and did my homework and settled on a Kia Sport age S. This little crossover is a beast! The cabin is nicely laid out and the ride is great. I've hit the road and the seats are very comfortable and I'm big guy. Give this a try and you'll be surprised.

Nice Sporty SUV & Feels Solid & Well Built

My wife wanted bit smaller SUV after leasing 4 Honda CRVs in a row. We looked at Mazda CX-30 and also Kia Seltos. Selected the Sportage Ex model w/the technology package. Has every safety feature & techn goodies most folks desire plus good looks. Technology Pkg includes amongst many features Ventilated leather seats, upgraded HK audio system, smart hatch opening & excellent display screen for Navi. We like the shiftable 6 speed transmission (not a CVT, thx!!!) and cargo area is enough for our needs. Vehicle seems well built & feels solid, also fairly tight body panel gaps unlike our 2017 CRV. Kia warranty is also best in business which helped sway us for long-term purchase

My wife and I traded in our 2017 Sportage EX for the SX Turbo. To get the color combination we wanted, Pacific Blue with Tan interior, we got an upgraded model with pretty much every option including the illumination package. We LOVED this car. The turbo is very responsive with almost no turbo lag. It's got more legroom in the front than the Seltos that we also looked at. Unfortunately, one day we came out and the SUV was dead! We have had it in several times to the dealership to see what is going on. The 2nd time they replaced the battery and when we got it home, the alarm kept going off. There is something wrong with the electrical system which is disappointing and it is currently in the dealership for the 3rd time. That being said, the dealership has been very good and helpful and despite this issue I'm still giving the Sportage 4 stars because we love everything else about the car, especially the styling and the turbo. Hoping we get this gremlin taken care of and we get a car we love back soon!

I have always been an avid Kia supporter and will never purchase one again. We have a 2020 Kia Sportage S that we bought brand new. Within 8 months and 9,000 miles my car wouldn't start so it was towed to the dealership. No problems found with the car it was supposed to be in perfect working order. Exactly one month later it wouldn't start again, towed to the dealership again. Once again no problems they cant find anything wrong with it. Fast forward now to 6 months later the car has been towed multiple times and corporate will not authorize repairs which is either the battery or the alternator. The car was just towed this past week and once it is back we are trading it in for anything else. I literally had one of the corporate customer service reps tell me that I just needed to accept what the dealership was telling me and that there was nothing wrong with my car and sometimes cars just don't start.

I was hesitant at first going form Honda to Kia, given Kia’s “bad rep,” however, I couldn’t be happier! I love this SUV so much. It has all the bells and whistles (ie; keyless entry, push start engine, blind spot assist, leather seats, back up cameras, Apple car-play) and plenty of room at a great price! The only con I would say is the gas milage. I get about 26/city and about 30/highway, but all the bonus features def out weigh this one con. The 10 year/100,000 mile warranty is the icing on the cake!

Pro: Responsive engine, great handling, and comfortable. OK for cargo capacity helped by removable cargo floor partition. Averaging 24mpg overall but with over 30 mpg on extended highway trips..Great warranty!!! Con: no memory seating controls and limited power seat adjustments. Could be slightly quieter at highway speeds but acceptable. Update at 27000 miles. Still a great car and no problems. Could add that it has a great stereo system. Otherwise intial impression holds. Upatedate at 35000. Not a single problem Still very tight. Low 20 mpg in city and mid to lower 30"s on highway. Update - 50k miles-running strong no issues.

I went from a Chevy Suburban to the Kia Soul when gas prices hit highs a few years back. Was happy with the quality and size. Now it is time to get a new car...I wanted a little bit bigger, so looked at the Sportage. Was going to buy used, 2018 or 19, but the 2020 was such a step up, and not that much more in price, I had to do it. I am living in the lap of luxury! The ride and handling and all the features (even in the base model) are amazing! I Had a great experience with my Soul, so was very happy to continue my ownership with Kia. Gas mileage is not a great as I expected...but I have only been tooling around the city so far. I am sure once I am highway driving it will get better. couldn't be happier!

I recently purchased a 2020 LX. I took my first vacation to the Mountains last week and was impressed by the fuel economy (avg 36 mpg) and ease at which it climbed steep grades. I don't know what the Edmunds reviewers are talking about when it comes to those two metrics. I also like the Sportage because it requires much less maintenance than the Honda CRV. Basically you do an oil change every 7500 miles and replace the air filter every 2 years. Also the CRV 1.5 turbo has a well documented (carcomplaints.com) issue with excess fuel in the oil. Don't forget that Kia provides a 5yr/60k mi bumper to bumper and 10/100k mi year power train warranty. I paid $20.8k plus T&L and feel that it was money well spent.

I’m obsessed with my car! I hate driving, but not with this car. It’s quick, quiet, has every feature I could think of in a vehicle and it’s very affordable. I’m leasing, but will definitely buy at the end of the lease. Of course I bought it and a week later the world shut down because of COVID so I don’t get to drive it nearly enough. Highly recommend to anyone!

Recently bought a new 2020 LX, build date April 2020. We've been talking about getting a new mid size SUV so woke up one morning and said lets go shopping. My wife and I are retired and usually drive a car about 10 years or so. Our 2006 Toyota was getting tired but became a good 2nd car for another family. Back in 2006 I wouldn't have considered a KIA. Today they seem to be as good if not better as what used to be the benchmarks. We looked at the CRV, RAV4 and CX5 but all were way more expensive. We like the simplicity of the Sportage LX. None of the auto driving gizmo gadgets they put on cars these day's just the basic luxuries and I really like the fact it doesn't have a CVT transmission or a turbo. We're hopeful we never need to use the warranty but the 5 year/60,000 mile bumper to bumper is the best in industry. We like how the Sportage drives. It has plenty of power and gets good gas mileage. The seats are very supportive and there's plenty of room in the back. Wind noise is faint. I hear the tires more than I do anything else. KIA had a $2500 rebate and the dealership offered a $400 veteran discount with a copy of my DD214. There were a few fee's but had them dropped once it became a deal breaker. Will try to update as the years go by. Update 4/19/2021, coming up on a year. Our Sportage has not given us one problem. We don't have a lot of miles yet, but it's been on several trips. Ride is comfortable. We average about 30mpg which it fine by me. It's funny some people still look down on KIA. When we showed her off to our friends and relatives some rolled their eyes in disbelief. I guess they read about the Theta II engine problems and GDI carbon build up. I think these problems have been resolved but we do what we can by using Pennzoil Ultra Platinum oil and Shell gasoline. I know you see a lot of KIA's on the road. So far we are very happy and don't regret the purchase at all. Will keep you posted as the months and the miles roll by.

Perfect...but for the gas mileage

I recently leased the 2020 Sportage - this is my 3rd week - and it's perfect! It's just the right size, not too big, that parking in NYC is nightmarish and not too small that fitting a car seat in the back seat is a mini wrestling match. It glides when it drives. Yeah, so when you first hit the gas pedal it doesn't jump into the street (unless you're in sport mode), but when it gets going, it's effortless. I can't tell you how many times I was blissfully unaware that I was cruising at 75mph until I glanced at my speedometer! The sound system works great too and you can adjust it to your preference. I like a lot of bass so... And the panoramic roof, my gosh, the panoramic roof! My only gripe is that gas mileage is not where I would like it to be. I do a lot of city driving and it feels like I use half tank in two days. I stopped driving in sport mode and it seems that has helped a little but still, it could be better.

I bought this vehicle after having two Kia Souls. Really nice upgrade for not a lot more money. It is fun to drive. I love the amount of room it has for taking trips and picking up large items. I like how the back seat lock down when carrying large items. The cruise works very well. I usually get from 29 mpg to 32 mpg on the highway depending on my speed. It has no lack of power and will get right up and go. I like how it handles on the road and around town. It has a lot of standard features. And it is a great looking vehicle.

We have had 2 KIA Sorentos in the past and decided to down size. The 2020 Sportage drew our attention as it smaller but still has plenty of room. The exterior is very ‘classy’ looking and the interior is very nice, too, with enough leg room in the back for comfort.

Wife drove my 2017 Sportage for a while and she loved it so much we had to buy a 2nd one for her, a 2020 Hyper Red EX. We're both a fan of the nimble size, yet still decent storage/hauling capacity, while bristling with electronic gadgets and a super smooth ride with power to accelerate. Just a great car with great features, a great price and a warranty that American cars can't touch.

I bought my 2020 KIA Sportage in June. Loved my new SUV. Very comfortable seats, rides great. On October 22 I was the passenger of a T bone accident that smashed in my door. I was trapped in the car. Witness say the vehicle was on 2 wheels it was hit so hard. I climbed over and got out of the vehicle on the driver's side. I believe, as well as many ambulance personel that witness the accident, that this vehicle saved my life. The 5 star crash rating is definitely true. My SUV is totalled and I will be getting another KIA sportage

Not the Sportage it used to be

2020 Kia Sportage SX Turbo 4dr SUV AWD (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 6A)

Had the top of the line model(Turbo SX w/AWD) for 3 months now. The ride is very comfortable but firm. The car feels tight and well put together. The turbo acceleration is impressive and has a very slight hesitation prior to really cranking up, something to get used to.. The ride is a little more noisy than my prior sedan but pretty much to be expected with a SUV. The car is very well appointed and does not seem to have cut corners in the interior finish. Gas mileage is low (aver 22-23 mpg) but I don't put a lot of miles on the car so really doesn't bother me a lot. I would highly recommend the vehicle.

I love my Sportage. Very roomy and drives well! The wireless charging is very convenient. Although the S trim is below the EX and the SX it still has a lot of luxuries to offer (leather seats, panoramic roof, wireless charging, heated seats).

Traded up from a Toyota Venza

Lacks some bells and whistles (manual seats, push button start etc.) but solid and comfortable on highway with good road holding. All round finish is better than my old Toyota and it tow;s a trailer without effort. I had the rustproofing done by the same local guy that I always use who was impressed with the build quality. Fuel economy is around the 25-28 mpg (US) but it depends on how you drive and will probably do better on longer runs. Only minor gripe is the screen display that could be used to display something other than a clock, fuel consumption, millage, journey time would be nice. Overall at the moment very satisfied with my purchase. Since last review no problems, however I have discovered that I can get better mileage by not using the cruise option, and now average 29 mpg (US). One niggling fault, the plastic grip to pull down the hatch keeps falling out. It is covered under the warranty but the service dept at the dealership forgot to order it and then wanted me to drive another 180km to have them put a new one in (it just snaps into the opening), we are now trying to get them to post it

Pretty and sporty. My first brand new car. Interior is nice...love the heated seats and the backup camera. 10 year warranty sold me. Hate the gas mileage- seems to average 19-23 MPG in Eco. And for a brand new car, it's not very quiet at all. Wish I would have shopped around more.

Great suspension - plush ride in city driving. Base stereo is very good. Engine power is good. Two problems I have: Loud at highway speed - road and wind noise. Not enough heat and air come out at my feet. Have to crank it to full, and that adds to the loudness. They set it up so air/heat always comes out at the windshield. So your face gets hot before your feet. Takes a long time to heat up. Besides that, it's a great vehicle for the money.

We traded in a Soul for the Sportage. It's a great upgrade. It's got everything we need in the size we wanted. The lane assist feature is new to us and is very cool. We love all of the "standard" features that are extras on other vehicles. The 10yr/100,000 mi power train warranty is a valuable benefit. The gas mileage is fantastic too!!

First time purchasing a Kia, recently had a Volkswagen. Now I regret I traded it in. The 2020 Kia Sportage Have a lot of good features, very sporty looking, roomy and the panoramic sunroof is amazing. Heated leather seats, backseats can recline and spacey. The one thing I failed to ask about is Gas mileage. I just assumed that since it was NEW it would be a gas saver, boy was I wrong. It's terrible on gas. As I drive the gas meter literally MOVES. Had car for 2 days. Wish I could return. After my lease is up I will be returning. No more Kia's for me!!!

I just bought a new 2020 Kia Sportage LX 2.4 AWD, 6-automatic. Car is ok but so disappointed with fuel-economy. the rest of the car and features don't matter as the focus is always on the poor fuel economy. (hope I can get from point "A" to "B" without needing to stop for gas. ) Terrible gas mileage. No new car should be this hard on gas. The worst by far of any Car in this class. I cant believe this is a 4 cylinder engine. My overall is about 23 MPG. I stress the word overall. In the City I'm getting approximately 18 MPG. My MPG is well below the window sticker of 26 MPG. I've taken extra steps to try to increase fuel economy. (Windows up, AC off, Using Economy mode feature; 4x4 mode off, and premium "93" gas.) Nothing helps. I even took out my spare tire to reduce some of the dead weight. Very unhappy and very disappointed. With gas mileage this poor I should have bought a pick-up truck. Now I'm stuck with this gas gulping hog for the next 5 years. Update 1: (approx 4 weeks after purchase) Currently in the process of selling this car due to excessive fuel consumption. Took the car to a trusted private mechanic (ASE Certified). Paid out of pocket for complete diagnostic. Reviewed engine and transmission. Checked fuel tank for leaks as well as fuel lines, fuel rail etc. No problems found. The Car appears to be engineered without concern for fuel economy. Update 2: (6 weeks after purchase) Sold the Car. Financial loss of approx $3000. I am unable to keep this car as a daily driver due to the excessive fuel consumption. Approximately 7 fill ups per month and I'm low balling. No assistance from the company to review my situation or offer any kind of assistance. . No assistance from Dealer. I Wasted hours of personal time on the phone to try to exchange the car and seeking outside assistance. I bought it and it was my headache to deal with. Will NEVER BUY ANOTHER KIA !! If you work and hold a job and drive to create an income for your family avoid this car at all costs.

Well, taking into consideration that I have driven the KIA Sorrento for the past 7 years, I'm taken back how poor the gas mileage is in the Sportage.I truly expected it to be the same if not better than the Sorento. I only 2,000 miles on it yet I did think by now KIA could have done better. Also I purchased the upgraded "S" model to only find out that power seat was removed, the drivers window is only power down, but must be held to close KIA what were you thinking. Both my Sorentos had a lot more features and they were only "LX"'s. Granted the moon/panoramic roof is cool but really give that but cheapen the interior. No UVO either. Really

I have a 2020 Sportage Sport. Love the design on this car and all the safety features. The con of this vehicle is the road noise and cabin noise. It is very loud inside especial on the highways. I was hoping for a quiet ride. Even. have nitrogen filled tires they don't help at all. Waiting till the 2024 card come out to get a new one.

I was out looking for the new 2022 Tucson when I came across the 2020 Sportage EX, that is fully loaded with every option it can have, plus it had a tow hitch already installed as well. It was the managers demo, so it had 700 miles on it. The sticker was $37,590, but it was marked down to $30,575. The only thing I wasn't sold on is the color, Burnished Copper, but it's growing on me at that price. I obviously can't do a review on how good or bad it is since I just purchased it, but I can give you my first impressions. I'll start off with the negatives I've found so far. The engine is definitely under powered for this SUV. I wish it had the turbo, but it doesn't. Even in sport mode, it is still lackluster. Next is the fuel mileage, for a smaller SUV, the mileage isn't great. That's about it so far for the negative. The positive. Interior quality, fit and finish seem to be excellent. Things that dives me nuts are squeaks and rattles that you can't find where they are coming from. I won't know for sure till I put some miles on it, but I have confidence that the build quality will hold up and I shouldn't come across this issue. The ride is fairly quiet and smooth and the seats are comfortable. Just driving it home from the dealership, the ventilated seats were nice to have. I'm not a big sunroof fan, but I got to say the panoramic sunroof is pretty impressive. All the controls on the center console are laid out in a very nice sensible pattern and easy to reach. The Harman Kardon speakers sound very good, not as good as my Bose did in my Mazda, but close. The view out the back is good and easy to see your surroundings. I look forward to putting a lot of miles on this car and I'll update my review as I go along. I now have 15,000 miles on the car and I am still enjoying it. No rattles or squeaks and road noise is kept to a hush, but noticeable when the radio is off or down low. I’ve not had any issues with the car, just doing it’s regular maintenance etc. I’m enjoying the ventilated front seats and good air conditioning. The gas mileage is still mediocre at best, averaging 24/25. Seat comfort on long trips is good and the sound system is very good. Even did a little off roading, not on purpose, but Waze took me on a backroads route and the road was a rocky, muddy and sometimes steep incline/decline and pot holes, but it handled it just fine. So far I’m pleased with this vehicle. I sold this vehicle for more than I purchased it for, so it worked out well.

In 2021 we purchased my college aged daughter a 2019 Sportage EX because it was in our price range, had great reviews and we wanted something that would be under warranty until she gets out of school. Two years later it’s required NOTHING except its routine services. Long story short I’ve been struggling to find the right vehicle for myself. I had a 2022 Honda CRV that had horrible problems with the Bluetooth. I traded that for a 2023 highlander, and was very disappointed with the turbo lag and multiple Infotainment issues. My daughter was away this summer so I would drive her car some to keep it from sitting. I fell in LOVE and traded the highlander for a 2020 Sportage SX turbo! This car in incredible in every way and I’m amazed by it every time I drive it. SOO solid and heavy feeling and loads of fun to drive!! The infotainment works flawlessly and is very user friendly. Gas mileage 22 to 25 which is a little less than previous cars but I will trade this any day for its superior performance!!! I wish I had an extra garage and could stick one away for when I need my next car haha
