I purchased my certified used 2014 Honda Civic about a month ago and couldn't be more pleased and satisfied with both the car and the people at Pohanka Honda of Fredericksburg. My salesman, Mitch was friendly and very helpful and there was no pressure to buy. He was knowledgeable and explained everything very well. The sales manager, Kingsley was super friendly and very easy to talk to and my negotiations were met in full. I got my vehicle for a great price! My finance guy was Matt Carpenter and I got excellent care from him as well. I loved the fact that he was always smiling. It's funny how little things like that can just make your day! Today, I spoke with Brady in the service department with a million and one questions. He was very friendly and answered the phone with great enthusiasm...what a great start! Brady was very patient with me while I asked my plethora of questions. He answered every one of them with great knowledge. I am extremely pleased with Pohanka Honda of Fredericksburg and would highly recommend them. Just one more little tid bit for anyone looking for a great car. I recently traveled around 600 miles and got a gas mileage of 42.2 mpg! EXCELLENT!

Ignore any pricing listed for the Civic Type R, on Edmunds or elsewhere, they are charging a "mandatory" $5,000 over MSRP. They told me that it was non-negotiable.

If your buying a car at Pohanka Honda of Fredricksburg "Terry Jones" is the sales person which you definitely need to get in touch with. I believe he provides the best quotes for the car price, excellent customer service at this respective dealership and pays hundred percent attention to every concern put forward by the customer. He makes sure that your properly heard and well attended at every step of your car buying process and even after you've purchased the car. What really impressed me was that even after I had bought the car and was taking it from the dealership, he specifically went over all the car features with me again to make sure I knew all of them well enough for proper usage. He followed up with me next day as well to check If I had any doubts. And I really appreciate that sort of customer service.

Great buying experience with Nathan Coleman & Santo Iacono in finance

Excellent buying experience! Nathan Coleman (saleperson) was wonderful to deal with - he provided straightforward and honest pricing. There were no changes or games when we arrived at the dealership to buy the car. He is not aggressive or the hard-selling type, just honest and easy to deal with. Also, Santo in finance was wonderful to deal with - no games, no hard sell, just honest good service. The whole buying process did take 3.5 hours but this is pretty much typical, and our deal took a bit longer with a military out of state registration (PA) which Santo handled so the PA plates will just be mailed to me. Highly recommended dealership.

I went to the Pohanka Honda of Fredericksburg because I found a car I adored and was lucky enough to find it rather quickly in one of the lots. It was my first time purchasing a vehicle and we ended up with Yusef Adams as our salesman. He was amazing! A really genuine, good person who truly wanted to help others get the best deals. Unlike many he wasn't in it to try and get as much money from me as he could, he really did listen to my budget and what I was working with and did everything he could to help. He helped make the purchase of the car I fell in love with possible and was able to drive out of there extremely happy in my new ride! He's very personal and a great salesman. I don't often write reviews but I needed to for him because he truly did a fantastic job.

Breaking the salesman stigma

This was my first buying experience. I needed a new car badly. Upon walking into the dealership, I was extremely nervous and anxious about getting a "good deal." I was immediately greeted and directed to William Hamilton. He got right to the point and discarded all anxiety floating around in my head. He did not represent the sleazy salesman of old, but of a new generation of car salesman. A clean, genuine, and non-pushy professional. I am extremely pleased with the car he helped me find. The process took a little over 3 hours, which went by fast and was painless. I will be sending anyone who is interested in a Honda vehicle to Pohanka and encourage others to visit. Keep up the quality service and genuine spirit, Pohanka Honda, and thank you for bringing a refreshing new approach to buying a car.

Serious integrity and customer service issues.

This place was a nightmare. I've never written a bad review before, but I’m writing this one because I would have appreciated it beforehand. Summary: Our experience with this dealership is that they are responsible for some very serious issues of integrity, customer service, and even significant financial processing errors. In short, they are all about a sale which benefits them – and nothing else. Our story below is long, so that’s the short of it. To start, the car-buying process took way too long. Over seven hours. It started with an engine noise that was clearly not normal. Our salesman Joseph Mang did not seem worried about it, until we said it was a deal breaker. He told us he’d fix it while we were at lunch; when we returned he tried upsell us on a car that was well out of our stated budget (all the while pressuring us to finance). Once we refused, Joe immediately brought back our original car and told us the problem was a missing bolt. It made us wonder “If it was that easy to fix, why didn’t this happen 2 months ago when they got the car and tried to sell it to other people?” After a lengthy negotiation in which after every offer/counteroffer was met with a 30-45 minute wait, we were shuttled over to the “finance department” who continued to heavily pressure us into financing and purchasing liability that they didn’t even describe correctly. Six hours in, we were about to leave with our car until we realized just outside the parking lot that the dealership had made a serious error in processing the deal – they let us drive out of there without signing the financial paperwork - yes, really, we went back on our own, and the ordeal added another hour. The next morning we attempted to wire our payment, and it became clear that they gave us the wrong account and routing numbers. We also noticed that a set of all-weather floor mats which we had negotiated for when settling the car price were not in the car. Our salesman Joe at first denied agreeing to include the floor mats (our fault for not getting this is writing) but then conceded. He had used their value as a selling point of the car, so the agreement was hard to deny. I had a follow-up phone call with his manager, who was quite bent out of shape because she had to go through the trouble of sending the mats to us. I have never before interacted with another professional, let alone a manager, who seriously thought that guilt and moaning was an appropriate customer service tactic. After this, we still had to interact with them because they had screwed up more of our paperwork. It took two weeks and many phone calls to get a reply after we took the initiative to find what paperwork was missing and send it to them to sign – some of which was legally required for them to have signed at the time of sale to process the title and licensing. Finally, it took another two weeks of patiently attempting to reach Joe, and then going around him, for a set of temporary plates to avoid being fined while waiting on the dealership’s paperwork negligence. My wife did have a good interaction with a separate salesperson there, Sandra, and a manager in the financing department who ironically was the best person at resolving the temporary plate issue. The staff in the service department seemed knowledgeable, customer friendly, and timely. However, the people you will meet at the front door and have to interact with during a car purchase - and one month after, such as in our case - are likely going to be more like our original salesperson Joseph Mang and his manager Judaea. Overall, this dealership is poorly run, with no accountability to customer service or following through in any aspect once you purchase a car. You are at their mercy, so please be careful in buying from them. Also - they're just downright horrible people to interact with. The Jack Evans dealership nearby had a similarly-priced car and friendly staff, who were in no way like the people at Pohanka. We should never have chosen this place over them.

Special thanks to Dixie for exemplary customer service on 8/19! I called in to schedule an appointment for a safety recall repair and inquired about additional services. Dixie handled my call with a genuine desire to help and exceeded my expectations. I was pleased to find out there was no appointment necessary, which made it very convenient for my busy schedule! When I arrived at the dealership, I couldn’t wait to meet Dixie to thank her for her A+ customer service. I was pleased to be greeted by Dixie with a smile, a warm greeting and very positive energy! And if it couldn’t get any better, she made me a fresh and delicious cup of Expresso, which is a big deal for a 1st timer! She arranged shuttle service, which really WoW’ed me, sent me text updates on the progress of my car, and made it possible for me to get all of my car needs taken care of—hassle free! I was pleased to get my first ever car detail done on my 360,000+ mile 2004, Honda Accord and get my Safety Recall needs taken care of. Thanks again to Dixie to making my visit to Pohanka F’Brg one of a kind and keeping me smiling every time I think back of my 1st coffee tasting experience and 1st ever car detail service! Horrible customer service

Bought a 2015 Honda civic from pohanka and the worst experience possible. They take forever to process everything from loan paperwork to trade in paperwork. 3 weeks after trading in our old car m wife had to drive up there and get the sales manager to sign off on a check for us. The employees are rude, all of them. They won't fix any problems they make so don't waste breath trying to get them. Just walk out the door, better yet don't even go up there.

Chris, my Service Advisor, went out of his way in connecting me with Pohanka's dent and paint person. I had my routine service completed and an old scratch removed all at the dealership. This saved me a lot of time, money and effort. Everyone is always pleasant and helpful. I always recommend your dealership for car purchases and service. Of all the dealerships I have been to in my life, I must say that Pohanka Honda of Fredericksburg has exceeded my expectations for sales, service(ROCKS!), and overall customer service. Since moving to the area, I have purchased 3 Honda's from Pohanka and have referred several friends for their new vehicles as well. This time around, I worked with Bill H. to trade in my used vehicle and purchase a new 2014 Honda Pilot. He came highly recommended by my friend who had just purchased a vehicle with his assistance the following day. Bill was efficient, courteous, knowledgeable, and a man of his word. This last purchase took two days to complete and another day to install options. Bill had given me instructions to just come and see him and he would prepare and execute all that was necessary to get the job done, which he did. I am naturally a bit leery of salesman but Bill made sure the car buying experience was as pleasant as this sort of thing could possibly be. He is a great addition to the Pohanka sales team! Mahalo!

I reached out via Edmunds to several dealers about cars listed on the website, but Tiffany at Pohanka Honda of Fredericksburg was by far the most prompt and responsive, and she was willing to work with me via e-mail rather than trying to force me to negotiate on the phone or in person. We worked out a deal online and she had the paperwork ready for me when I arrived and then was diligent in ensuring that my vehicle was immaculate before I left. (It had been sitting under a tree and had some tree sap on it.) She was professional and courteous during the entire process.
