Scammed

by ElliotC on 03/30/2023

Findlay Toyota Maintenance Review I received a complimentary service request from Findlay Toyota to bring my car in for a complimentary service on my 2021 CH-R XLE in the mail and my daughter who uses the car made an appointment and brought the car in for the complimentary service today. I have to say it was a nightmare that I do not wish on anyone else and am writing this review to warn people against bringing in their Toyotas for servicing at this dealership or any other Toyota dealerships for that matter. First of all, this was supposed to be a regular complimentary service which I thought would only take an hour at most since I had made an appointment for the service. My daughter ended up waiting three hours with no one there to answer any questions regarding why it was taking so long for the service, they either told her that they don’t know or to just wait a bit longer and that ended up being 3+ hours. What happened at the end was most disturbing because my complimentary service ended up costing me $230+ for work that they said they had to do but my daughter was never asked or consulted before they did the supposed wheel alignment that she was told was needed and had to be charged (Isn’t this against the law? Doing work on the car before getting any confirmation from the client?). My daughter, an 18-year-old girl but am old enough to know when someone is scamming her, they must think females do not know anything about cars. Before this supposedly complimentary service request from Findlay Toyota in Henderson, I had two new tires changed at a Tire store and the people there never told me I had a wheel alignment problem with my new car purchased just over a year ago. All things aside, if I really had a problem with my car’s alignment and it needed fixing, why did staff/mechanics at this Toyota Maintenance Dept. never came and consulted with my daughter or inform her that it needed this work done and it would cost her out of the pocket some $230+ dollars? Are they not supposed to first inform the client that the car has a problem and needed fixing, also to ask if she would want to have it fixed there? she drives her car to school each day and never had a problem with the steering of the car or felt something was wrong with the wheels or its alignment. After 3 long hours of waiting at their waiting lounge with no phone charging cables or phone chargers, She was just left sitting there with nothing to do since her phone's battery was used up and there were no one that would give her any straight answers as to why the car was taking so long to be serviced. Someone came out after 3 hours of her wait and handed her an invoice for payment for work that they had supposedly done. She was never consulted or informed. What if I did not let my daughter have my credit cards or she did not have any money to pay for the service? I find it totally unacceptable/disturbing and feel she was cheated and scammed. The main point is if any work had to be done at a cost, She should have been consulted first and told the amount of costs involved but that never happen and she was just stuck with the bill when we thought the service was complimentary (free). What a scam, they send you a complimentary service notice and after you bring your car in, they then inform you after the fact that you have to pay for some supposedly extra service done on your car. They gave her no proof of any extra service they said was provided for the alignment except a photo of one of the tires being gauged. This is so wrong from so many different perspectives. I will never again take my car into this Findlay Toyota dealerships to be serviced nor will I ever buy another Toyota again after this horrible experience. The new car is supposed to have a warranty against these types of issues with the car since it was bought new just over a year ago. We really just feel cheated and taken advantage of because of my daughter’s age and she did not know how to deal with people that cheats for a living. It is so sad that she had to go through this ordeal all alone, tired, and hungry after just sitting there for three hours, she told me she did not have the strength to argue with them and that the lady at the cashier said that’s what they do, tact on extra costs for repairs when my daughter complained to her. We will tell everyone about this and post this review everywhere we can in hopes to stop this kind of practices by car dealerships. Will never buy another Toyota from Findlay and it has put an emotional scar on us to ever take a car in for service at any dealerships. March 30, 2023

Don't Ever Go Here

by yvonne82 on 08/12/2012

On July 30th, I dropped my vehicle off in the morning and took the shuttle back to my office. At the same time I booked my appointment I confirmed my need for a ride to and from work. I was told a shuttle would be ready within 10 minutes of me dropping off my vehicle. After 30 minutes I had to track down whoever was supposed to be giving me a ride. After I went to work, no one called me that day and I called a little after 5:00 concerned. Come to find out I was completely forgotten about. My vehicle had been done hours before. The person who was supposed to have called me, Robert Baldwin, told me that it was “an unfortunate over site” on his part. I was then told the shuttle was officially down and they weren’t sure if they could assist me in getting my vehicle since their office was about to close anyway! I am a single mother of two children. I had no way to get my vehicle without an extremely expensive taxi ride and still not without being extremely late in picking my children up from school. Also, with no family in town the school would have had no choice but to call the authorities to come and get my children. That would mean that if I ever did get my vehicle, I’d have to go to the POLICE STATION to pick up my 2 and 5 year old children! After speaking to 3 different people, they finally decided it was fine to pick me up and to stay open long enough for me to get my vehicle. With the time it took them to decide to have someone pick me up, I was alone at the office and sitting outside by myself praying my phone didn’t die before someone picked me up. There is absolutely no excuse for what I was put through for a simple oil change. A free oil change turned out to be a $120 school bill that I incurred because I was horridly late in picking up my children, but thank God not late enough for the authorities to be involved. When I told the representative that I wanted some kind of compensation, he stated that again it was an unfortunate over site on his part and that he could do nothing since my oil change was free, since I myself purchased the extra package. He stated that he would make sure one of his managers contacted me by the next day before lunch. It is now two weeks later and the crickets have even given up on the possibility that anyone at this facility will take responsibility.

Great Job!

Cant say enough good things about this place. Only place I can take my vehicles to and feel satisfied with the work. A shame that no other place in town embodies the customer service and satisfaction like Findlay Toyota!

Service Department is Very Poorly Run

by strawder on 11/15/2008

The service department at Findlay Toyota is by far the worst Toyota dealership I have ever experienced. The dealership advertises that they have over 100 service bays - but they only have about 10 mechanics working those bays. They also have spots for 10 service consultants - but rarely have more than 2 working. Appointments are done terribly. The schedulers will give everyone an appointment between 7am and 9am. There are no afternoon appointments. However, even though you have one of those early morning appointments, the service department just lines up your car to wait until the afternoon before anyone actually services it. The typical appointment is to leave your car for a minimum of half a day and usually to leave the car all day. I have even had oil change appointments where you have to leave your car a half day. It is incredibly annoying because every time you complain to someone at the service department they make it out to be a special circumstance that they are just so overwhelmed that day. Unfortunately, it is like that every time. The prices are higher than any other dealer I have seen. They charge $74 for a standard oil change. The other services are priced outrageously high as well.
