Very pleased with my buying experience!

by Jay5ive on 02/21/2017

I lost my vehicle in January as it was totaled in an accident so I had to find a used or new vehicle to replace my totaled car. I dealt with 5 other dealerships and 5 other salesman prior to trying RB Honda so I have a good idea of how RB Honda stacks up to the other dealers in the area. I had test drove multiple trucks and SUV's but ultimately fell in love with the 2017 Ridgeline that Honda offers. They are hard to find in the area, especially at higher trims so when I searched online and found the right trim/color combo on RB Honda's site, I immediately called. The salesman who took my call was Coltan and he did a very good job of answering my questions and giving me options as the Ridgeline (red) I wanted was still in transit and had not arrived at the dealer yet. He recommended I come in and test drive a Ridgeline (silver) that they had in stock which would be identical to the one I wanted except for color, and then if that test drive went well I could put a deposit down for the Ridgeline that was coming in. Liking that plan I grabbed my wife and we headed over to the dealership. When my wife and I arrived we were greeted by Coltan who was very friendly and approachable. He offered us water/coffee and continued to do this throughout our time with him which I thought was great. He went along on our test drive and did a great job of explaining features and instructing me on how to use some of the more complicated ones (adaptive cruise control). With the test drive going well we went back to the dealer and I put my deposit down for the Ridgeline that was in transit. Before we left Coltan went over the process of how things would go down once the Ridgeline arrived and even offered to come in on his day off if it arrived on that day. I was very pleased and impressed with that. Four days later he contacted me and said the Ridgeline had arrived so I was able to go in the next morning and test drive it. That test drive also went very well, this time Coltan stayed back at the dealership which I appreciated as it gave me time and space to really look things over and try everything out. I think the test drive lasted a little over an hour and he didn't bother me or ask where I was, he was very patient. When I arrived back at the dealership I asked Coltan if I could drive the other Ridgeline just so I could make sure road noise and performance were consistent as this was a big purchase for me, I wanted all my T's crossed. He didn't hesitate and immediately went and pulled the second one up for me to drive. Everything went well and when I arrived back at the dealer I pulled the trigger on the red Ridgeline that I wanted. The financing portion was pretty straight forward however it did contain a situation that could have made things difficult. I was transferred over to Bridgette for the financing part. She was very friendly and helpful. As I added my options and agreed on the financing numbers it was stated that they would not cash my check for two days as I needed to transfer money to my account in order to meet the downpayment amount we agreed on. I also wouldn't have the truck for those two days as my accessories were being installed. Later that night I found out that I was not going to be able to meet the downpayment amount that I had agreed upon when going over the financing and signing papers. As I said the paperwork was signed and the check was written, needless to say I was panicked. This was completely my fault and no fault of RB Honda. The next morning I was able to get ahold of the accessory agent who put a stop to the installation of things. This allowed me time to get back in touch with Bridgette who I was able to meet in person again where we cut out the accessories that had not already been installed as well as the extended warranty. As a result she drafted up a new financing plan that allowed for a lower downpayment that I could meet. She was able to cancel all of those extra accessories and the extra paid warranty.

Easy.

Fred H. is my go to guy when I buy Honda's from now on. This was the easiest time I have ever had buying a new car. They beat Edmunds price, and had me on my way with a new car in just under 2 hours. Really. The finance team was excellent. The building the dealership is in is not the Taj Mahal, but the service they provided me was the best I have ever received at a car dealership in over 30 years. Keep up the good work RB Honda. Thank you Fred for all of your help. I love my Accord sport.

Good service

by babyblue2012 on 09/08/2011

Had a good experience with RB Honda. We came looking for the Fit, test drove it and didn’t like it. Our sales guy then suggested the Civic, which wasn’t even on our radar. We liked that car and purchased it, with good service from the sales staff. They offered us a fair price for our old Camry over the phone, and honored it when we brought it in. They also took time to explain all the features. Good service and good follow through.

low ball trade in offer ..almost insulting

by huffdaddy on 08/30/2011

Honda doesn't need to be competitive on their pricing or willingness to deal.....they sell cars regardless ... I was offered almost $7000 dollars below Blue book for a 2008 car w/ 50K miles in excellent condition ..... traded even up for a 2012 model at a Chevy dealer ......Honda has good cars but you will pay a huge premium as they aren't willing to deal .... guess they don't have to .... there are equal competitors/products out there that want your business more ...I would shop around

Two faced sales person

by lucy30 on 04/19/2011

Do not ever go to this dealership. I negotiated a car via email and then I spoke with the sales associate on the final terms. I called the sales person the next day and they did not honor their commitments. Then the sales person began to lecture me and scold me for asking for a reduced price. I feel this person was very untrustworthy, unethical, and very rude. If you want to be told two different stories then visit this dealer otherwise go somewhere else.

This Dealership Looks Down On You

by newcarman1 on 12/07/2009

BAD SALES ASSOCIATE & MANAGER! Some questions I had were unable to be answered by the sales associate & he didn't seem to know much about the vehicle I was interested in. Since I did some research on the vehicle I wanted a test drive, however it was difficult for the sales associate to get keys. During the test drive the sales associate didn't try to promote the vehicle & didn't tell me anything about it except when I mentioned something, that was the only time he spoke. Since there wasn't much highway driving with the first test drive, I returned a week later hoping to test drive the vehicle again, mostly wanting more time on the highway; along with trying to get some other questions answered. The only sales person on at the time (afternoon during the week), was the same sales person I dealt with from my previous visit. I told him what my intention was and he said there were other customers he is working with due back any moment from their test drive, & could only give me a real quick test drive. No one else was available, so I said no thanks, and didn't have a problem with that. I had a problem when I was Looked Down Upon By A MANAGER, Yes A MANAGER, when he said they limit how many miles go on to their vehicles, & they don't do test drives for joy riding or for fun. I informed the Manager I was serious about purchasing a new vehicle. My appearance makes me look few years younger than my actual age, and I expressed how I felt towards the manager on his comment. He doesn't know me at all. If it wasn't because of my appearance that makes me look younger, then why would he make the comment of joy riding...? There is nothing wrong with wanting a second test drive for a vehicle, especially if it was for a specific test drive such as more time on the high way. The conversation I had with the manager ended with him saying if they couldn't meet my needs, there are other Honda dealerships I can go to that could. I told him I would be going to another dealership. Trust me, corporate was informed about the situation I had.

Awesome "Wow" experince!

by tgwrh on 07/25/2007

Tim Carter, the general manager followed up with me after my deal was completed to make sure that my wife and I received a "WOW" experince. A few weeks ago we stated our experince through the internet. We e-mailed all five twin cities' Honda dealers. Jeremy, the internet manager at Richfield Bloomington Honda was the first to respond. Not only did he respond first, but he gave the best price of the five, right off the bat! Inventory for the 2007 Pilot EX-L was very low and we were lucky to get the color we were looking for. Infact, we bought the last Nighthawk Black EX-L 4WD in the entire state of Minnesota! We are both very pleased and once the 2008 Accords arrive, we'll be in-line to get one from Richfield Bloomington Honda!!!
