Pleasant Experience

This was the most pleasant experience I have encountered when purchasing a vehicle. Kathy is a great sales associate and is supported by Julian, the sales manager who aims to please. Thanks also to Jimmy in finance for ensuring the paperwork was quick and accurate.

Absolutely the BEST Vehicle Purchase Experience EVER...that almost wasn't!!

I was about to expand my family to a total of 6 so I wanted an SUV that fit at least 6. After much research online & in-person, I saw that Richards Honda on Fla. Blvd. near Airline Hwy. had a fully loaded black 2011 Kia Sorento EX with about 50K miles on it available that seemed to fit both my price range & room requirements. So, I went to the dealership & was soon greeted by a salesman, Daniel Cowell. I told him that I was pre-approved for a max. of $20K financing and since I had no money to put down & no other resources, that I needed the "out the door price" including TTL to be less than that. He said that he understood & was pretty sure that he could oblige. So he took me to the Kia that I saw online and I must say, that it did NOT make a good first impression at all. Before getting in the SUV I noticed some pretty heavy scuff marks and scratches existed behind the rear fender well on the driver's side. I pointed it out to Daniel & he said that he wasn't aware of that being there earlier that day, so he felt that it must've just occurred when someone else was showing it previously. So, reluctantly, I let him show me the interior, primarily to see how much leg room the built in 3rd row seat provided. I'm glad I did because it seemed to provide the most room of the mid-sized SUV line with the exception of the Chevy Traverse (GMC Acadia). However, I believe this was ONLY because the 3rd row seat in the EX model comes standard. I've found that the added optional 3rd row seat DOES NOT provide the same amount of leg room & due to the stationary non-sliding configuration of the seat as witness in the LX, it is much more cumbersome to get in and out of. Another issue I noticed was that the SUV's interior wasn't detailed very well at all. There were pieces of food/candy wrappers, small toys, grass, etc. scattered in places across the floor board and between the seats. I also noticed an unclean smell in the interior, not revolting but far from pleasant. As a result, I opted not to go for a test drive and let Daniel show me a few more comparable vehicles on the lot, of which one was a white 2013 Honda Pilot. It had sufficient 3rd row seating, was visually appealing & drove well. However, it was a little more expensive than I had budgeted. Nevertheless, I liked it & told Daniel to work up his best total price to see if it could work. He said that he was off of work the next day but he would run Pilot deal through his manager & someone would call me the following day & let me know whether it was doable or not. By EOD the next day, I didn't get a callback, so I called the dealership & asked for a status callback. I did get a callback from a salesman that I missed. He didn't leave a detailed voice message notifying me of the decision, so we played phone tag a few more times that day. Finally, the next day I got in touch with someone at the dealership & they informed me that the Pilot had been bought by someone who test drove it earlier that day when I was there. Initially, I was pretty "ticked off" that it got sold while I was waiting to get notified whether a deal could be made on it or not. But, I understand that my sales guy wasn't in the office when it happened & I figured they couldn't get it within my price range anyway so I wasn't holding my breath or holding Daniel personally responsible. After a day or so, I decided to give the Kia another serious look. I went back to the dealership & checked out the Kia a 2nd time & this is what resulted. Apparently, they listened to my constructive criticism that I had given them earlier because this time, the Kia was spotless, inside and out, smelled clean & it looked like the dashboard & windows had been cleaned well also. The scuff marks and scratches still existed so I requested that Daniel knock off a few hundred bucks from the asking price for that, he got approval to do so. I test drove it and that sealed the deal for me. I loved the steering, the fact that it had a backup camera installed along with a GPS navigational system, the acceleration and the comfort of the seats and ride. To cut to the end of this review... he got me out of the door after TTL for just over $19,200! This was well below the dealer retail value of both Kelly Blue Book and NADA! Been having the Kia since end of July 2014 and ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! No problems, just had to get recall service performed that came out just a month or so before I bought it, that fixes the tire pressure sensor from malfunctioning. Great job to Daniel for turning a potentially terrible car dealership experience into a wonderful one!

Just bought a CRV from Richards Homda

Great experience with Byron L.

We bought a CRV from Richards Honda this week. Byron L. was our sales associate and he did everything possible to make it a great experience from start to finish. The dealership's sales approach is respectful and we did not feel pressured at all. The price of our car was in line with the price listed on edmunds.com, and was less expensive than a similar CRV we viewed at another dealership. Byron has already called several times after the sale to check on us, and his customer service has truly been exceptional. We made the right decision!

Customer Loyalty? Not!!!

Well...this would of been my 5th Honda purchase from this dealership so I guess I expected customer loyalty and a good deal. Instead I got the run around. The "ask the manager" hustle accompanied by a 4 hour wait while they "asked the manager" They quoted me 4,000 below the bluebook trade value of my vehicle citing it would be hard to sell (Hard to sell a Honda at their own dealership...really???) The price they quoted me on a 2013 (note this is November so 2013 is just about over) was over $2,000 more then the price I was quoted on the internet. When I told them this, I actually had to show the salesperson the email to "prove it." By then...4 hours later....I'd had enough and we left. Today I received an email telling me what a great deal I can NOW get on a 2013 model. I had to laugh. I'm done with Honda. I love the cars...and truly wanted another one, but its not worth it. When you begin to hate the thought of buying a new car because of the hassle you get at the dealership you know its time to buy something else.

Friendly, attentive, & quality-control minded

Our salesman, Gerald C., received us at the door like he was welcoming us to his home. He answered all the questions we had, and was very patient in explaining the various features of the 2013 Honda Accord. His sales manager was not high pressured, and kept his word on the price even though we purchased the car a couple of days later. The entire staff at dealership was friendly. They seemed sincerely interested in getting good reviews.

Easiest deal I've ever made

I contacted Vance M., the internet sales rep, about a 2013 Accord LX. I had used Edmunds to do my research and was going in know exactly what I wanted, what I wanted to pay, and what I wanted for my trade in. I had to do ZERO negotiating because Mr. M. quoted me exactly what I was looking for right off the bat. Finance department was very friendly and got me a great deal. I highly recommend contacting Vance if you are thinking of purchasing a Honda in Baton Rouge. I absolutely love the car.

The ONLY place to buy a Honda

This is the 2nd car I've purchased online from Richards. It was an absolutely great experience - very easy! Total time from walking in to driving off was 3 hours. I love that there was no pressure to buy. I've walked out of other dealerships because of pressure. Meghan was super knowledgeable about the car and its features. Price was better than any other, including megadealerships like Carmax. great follow-up from the dealership as well. Richards Honda has my business for life.

Very good purchasing experience

I recently purchased a new Honda Civic EX from Richards Honda. The internet sales manager, Julian Watson, and the overall sales manager, David Hill, were both very professional to work with and took excellent care of us during our purchase. I highly recommend doing business with Richards Honda. This is the second vehicle I have purchased from this dealer and both experiences were excellent (low pressure, no tricks/gimmicks). We decided on a specific color that was not on the dealer's lot. They found one, we agreed to a very reasonable price, then they had it delivered and prepped before close of business that night. I researched "how to buy a car" here on Edmunds.com, Cars.com, and other similar places. I highly recommend the advice given here & elsewhere to get multiple quotes via internet quote requests. Based on the communications we received from Richards and other dealers, this is an excellent starting point for a purchaser.

Even though I found and purchased the car elsewhere, I contacted Michael to help me with a problem I was having. Worst experience ever

I bought my first new car in August of 2011 it was a 2012 honda civic coupe. Ive had an issue with it not starting sometimes and when brought to the attention of the service representatives at the time of my first oil change in January it has been a downhill battle. My 2012 civic has 6 work orders for the same issue over the last two months. The service manager (Danny) only tells me that they have done everything they can do and he has no idea where to go from here! Thats always promising right? When i go to the receptionist and ask for the GM she sends me to the sales manager (David Hill) who says i have 2 options, continue to have my car repeatedly in for service until they can duplicate the problem and find a solution, or they can trade in my BRAND NEW 2012 civic in for a used car! Sorry i didnt buy a brand new car under the impression that it was in perfect condition just for it to have a problem from the start and trade it in 6 months later for a used vehicle! I honestly think this will be the last time i ever buy any vehicle from this dealership!

Most professional dealership I've ever dealt with

I have bought two Hondas from this dealer and have used their service dept for many years. Most recently I have bought a CR-V with assistance from Charlie Strickland. Though I live a good distance from Richards Honda, I always seek them out. Sales and service staff are knowledgeable, professional, and are never "pushy" nor aggressive. Upper management is always visible and interacts with customers. I highly recommend Charlie Strickland and also April in the service dept. This dealership is truly different.

Good Experience

Bought a new vehicle from them a couple weeks ago. Nice salesguy, Rene, nice people to work with all around. Only beef was we were there for 4-5 hours and most of it was spent waiting to get into the finance office. Did not plan for it to take that long.

After totaling my car, and trying to get back to a semi-normal life with a car... Richard's Honda made that all possible for me. I had dealt with a couple of dealers, and Richards had the best customer service around. I was able to roll off their lot that night with my brand new 2012 Honda Civic. I recommend Richard's Honda to anyone looking to do business with extremely friendly people, and also people who actually want to sell a car! Scott Brady was awesome to do business with, and everyone else that I dealt with. My Richard's Honda experience was phenominal, and I give them an A+ Go see them if you are interested in wonderful service. The service sense I have purchased my car has been awesome as well! I have nothing but good things to say about Richard's Honda! Buying a car from them was actually fun, & not stressful! (Might I add, I purchased my car during my week of finals, & just two weeks before my college graduation.) Go see them! :)

My husband military and we came home to Baton Rouge to visit family and purchase my now new Honda CR-V EX-L. Mr. Marshall Beall is the best, treats you like family, a great sales person. What I like about Richards Honda and Marshall Beall is they continue to work with you after all the papers are signed and you drive off the lot with you new vehicle. I came in after talking to the Richards Honda family on the internet for several months, Marshall worked with me closely and I got my CRV with great price and all the accessories I wanted and then some. April in the service department work with me closely installing all the accessories and any problems I may have had.

I recently purchased a 2010 Honda Accord from Richard's Honda. They offered me the best price for my trade, the best price for the car I was purchasing, and the best interest rate. It was my first time buying a car so needless to say I was pretty nervous. The staff at Richard's Honda, especially the salesman David Hill, were very courteous and attentive to my needs. David was very direct and not pushy in any way which made for a great first time car buying experience. He was extremely helpful every step of the way..before buying the car, while buying the car, and even after buying the car. I am very pleased with my purchase.
