I have never had a bad experience at DeFouw Chevrolet. The people are awesome, from my salesperson Pam Strain, to the financing folks, to the service department. Everyone is always friendly and helpful. I always recommend DeFouw and Pam to anyone looking to buy a new car. They get 10 out of 10 from me!

Tail light replacement

Oil Change

I recently took my truck in for warranty/service work, so I asked if the oil change could be done while they had the truck. The oil change was added to the appointment with no problem. I dropped the truck off the night before the scheduled day because I work out of town. The day of the service, I received a call that the truck was ready and the work was complete. I got back into town late, but was able to stop in and pick up the key before the service dept closed, so that I could pick up the truck that evening. I came back and picked up my truck later in the evening and when I got into the truck, I looked up and saw that there was oil on my windshield and it was running down the windshield. I started the truck up and started to drive home; as I was driving, I could see smoke from the engine coming out from the hood and I could smell oil burning, so I pulled over to ensure everything was ok. I discovered that there was a lot of oil on the valve cover where the oil fill is located, with more oil on the engine bay. I checked to ensure the oil cap was secure and not blowing oil out and continued to drive home. At home, I then noticed oily hand prints on the hood and fender of the truck. I then emailed the service advisor that evening of how I found my truck. The next day I received a call from the service advisor with an apology and I was asked if I could bring the truck back to them, so that they could make it right. By the time I could get my truck back to Defouw, it was two days later and it had been raining a lot, so a lot of the mess had been washed away by the rain and the oil on the engine and engine bay had dripped onto to the ground leaving an oil spot. Again, I dropped the truck off the night before the day I told the service advisor I would bring the truck back. That morning I received a call from the service advisor letting me know they had my truck and that he was going to look it over with his director and see what they could do to make this right. Three hours later, I received a call to let me know the truck was ready to be picked up. Because I work out of town, it was late afternoon by the time I could pick up my truck. When I got my truck from the porter, I could tell it hadn't been washed, when I got inside, I could tell the windshield had been wiped and not cleaned. I noticed that the heat was on high, and that's when I realized they had just let my truck run to burn the excess oil off the engine. The service advisor was with another customer and I didn't want to wait around to express my frustration, so I just drove home. At home I could see that they tried to wipe the valve cover clean. This was the first time I have visited this service department to have my oil change and I was truly disappointed.

2019 Chevy Silverado new body style

I’ve had multiple issues with this truck. Some of which were mechanics fault. I recently had a new engine put in, they replaced one head because some how got cracked, starter supposedly just failed at same time as new engine was installed, mechanic dented my hood with a sticking a screw driver in the bottom support where a factory hole was placed, started failed again and now the idler pulley bracket broke off the engine at random and they say it had nothing to do with them. On top of all that there are only 20 of those parts needed in the US and the part is on back order. So I have no idea when I might get this fixed. It has been problem after problem this past month and a half. The fixed what they messed up so far except the pulley bracket. They say is on me to pay for. Not happy. I will be contacting Chevrolet personally about everything that has gone on with this truck. At this point I just want my money spent back on the truck I bought

Easy

As the title points towards, it was extremely working with the wonderful people at Bill Defauw. I was able to give them my left and right limits and what my expectations, from that moment forward they didnt bother me until they had a deal they could present me that was within the limits I set forth. I was so impressed I challenged them to do it agian the following day so I could make the purchase of a second vehicle from them. No surprise at all that they were able to negotiate a deal on my behalf and have it ready so that neither time I had to spend unneeded time haggling.

Preowned vehicle purchase experience

I recently purchased preowned vehicle from DeFouw Chevrolet/BMW, Lafayette, IN 47905. The whole experience from initial contact to final pickup of my vehicle was just a pleasant experience. On the following day after having picked up the vehicle, Ben Mullikin from the dealership contacted me to say that weather mats for the vehicle had not been installed (their mistake) and he shipped them to me on the following day. These guys are just great to deal with. If you are in the market for a vehicle contact Ben Mullikin, a great guy to deal with. He gets an A+ rating from me. Navnit.

Quick and easy to buy a car

I went this dealer with internet information for preowned car. Luckily two out of three cars which I was interested in were still there and I could start to talk easily. But finally I chose another car with several consideration and brought it to my home within a few hours! The sales person was so kind to explain all I wanted to know and was very helpful for me to choose a nice car easily with short time. I appreciate his kind and professional assistance.

warning - Bait and switch Ordered a new 328i Xdrive for an agreed to price and mileage - waiting 3 1/2 months for vehicle - first one came in wrong color and then on day of delivery they did not honor agreement - I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS DEALERSHIP!!!

YEP I Tried them again

A few weeks ago the same local Chevy dealer had a TENT sale at the local fairgrounds. This happens to be right beside my house and on the way home I saw a car in the lot that I had much interest in. They had a 2010 Chevy Camaro (Silver or gray) with a beautiful black interior. What a sweet looking ride. SO when I got in the house I told my wife I thought I had just seen a car I was interested in getting for myself. She said ; HUH? So I told her that they had the brand new 2010 Camaro (my kid car from 30 yrs ago) over at the fairgrounds. I asked her if she would mind if we went over to look at it, drive it, and well MAYBE Buy it. She got the checkbook out of the buffet and said "Dear you have worked 35 years to buy what you want... You have the money... just write them the check!" SO we walked over, and I was still in my work clothes from a local establishment. I got over there, and looked around. The car was not where it had been when I drove by, but we looked at other vehicles also, none caught my eye. Finally My wife saw it, and said CHUCK there it is over by the tent. I said, Cool.. and we walked up to it. I looked all around it, and Fell in love with the color combination... silver/gray and black. What a nice looking vehicle. I stood there, opened the door looked at the wheels, sat in the vehicle.... IGNORED BY THE [violative content deleted] (Sales people) OF THE AUTO DEALER... My wife said- well if you want it; I guess you have to go to them. SO I walked up to a couple of salesmen and waited while they had a proverbial shoot the crap. A couple minutes later one of them said "Sir is there something that you want?". SO I said; YES there is; I would like to know what you are asking for this Camaro? Also I want to take her for a Test Driive. He said; well let me go see the price, and then we shall talk. I said; Okay bring back the keys. He walked away over to the picnic benches where they had the key locker set up. He talked to someone (I suppose a manager) and came back and told me it was $37,000. I said Fine- I want to take it for a test drive. His reply was "Well where do you work?" I told him that I am a Chief Engineer for a big new hotel. His reply was "Well we have someone else coming to see this car in about an hour, so you are not going to take it for a test drive at this time". ( SO what would he have said if I told him I was the owner of the hotel?) I said HUH? He said "Yep we have this car all but sold and if you want to drive it you will need to come back after that man drives it" WHAT THE HELL? I am not chopped liver, and I do not wait more than an hour for someone else to give me permission to buy anything. The car sat in that lot for most of the next week, and I laughed everytime I passed it. I said something to the effect of- "Well crap and I was just going to write you the check for about $40,000 to cover the entire thing but I cannot take it on a test drive". He said "NO SIR we have a guy who has another vehicle he bought from us and well we promissed him he could drive this". So he handed me his card and my wife looked at him and said: "You just made the biggest [violative content deleted] mistake of your selling career- IF he liked it he was paying in cash".... I need no financing- My 828 credit rating means no problem if I want financing... but I couldn't take a GM product for a test drive? SO we walked away and I threw his card in the trash. Defouw Chevrolet is a [violative content deleted] as far as I am concerned

Looked at a Malibu Hybrid - Bad Sales Technique

12/6/08 I went in and looked at a White Malibu Hybrid.... I was actually very interested in the car as it was on the SHORT list of things that My wife put as Christmas (Can I say that to a socialist?) present. I spoke with a salesman and he even brought a sales manager over. I asked them : What concessions are you willing to make from this MSRP for me to sign to buy this car tonight? Their reply was something to the effect that we are doing nothing on the hybrids. I told them that I was looking at a Prius at the time (It was the only other car my wife had interest in), and that it was pretty impressive. Although the toyota dealer (in town) was not willing to deal I had found one 30 miles away willing to discuss the price, to make a deal. Their reply was "OUR MSRP IS FAIR- WE STAND BY THAT!".
