Purchase Experience- they come no better than at Gregory Hyundai

by esquireps on 11/22/2010

My wife and I decided to purchase a new car for our two daughters this past weekend. Knowing how frustrating any new car purchase process is, my expectations were not high. Ultimately, we narrowed our choices to a Toyota and a Hyundai. I must say that this was the first time that I can say my auto purchase decision was based not only the car to be selected but the dealership and all of the people involved in the purchase experience. From the Sales Person to the Owner and ultimately the Finance Manager- the entire process was outstanding. I am positive that my next car purchase will be made at Gregory Hyundai. Not only did we feel great about the entire purchase experience, our sales person was nice enough to give us balloons and a big bow to put on the car for an extra special delivery to our daughters. I would highly recommend this dealership.

Worst Dealership

by skyfire1 on 11/14/2010

I went there to buy a Hyundai Santa Fee. They did not have the color and trim I was looking for and based on what they told me that particular car was not available in the five states they were able to get cars from. This was obviously a lie. Anyways, they offered me a similar trim with a different color. I test drove the car and liked it though the sales person could hardly answer any of my questions related to GPS and bluetooth. He did not even know how do they work. During the price negotiation, both the owner and Manager were extremely rude like they they were giving me this car for free. Dealership owner at the end of the negotiation called me stupid and said I will be in market for a very long time. I told him that if they wont respect their customers, they wont get business and then I left the dealership. A week later, on a Saturday, I received a call from the owner of the dealership, he said he would be able to give me a better price if I could make it to their dealership. I told him that I don't want to buy from them any more and hung up. Then I received 5 more calls from the manager of dealership. However, I had made my mind that I wont give my business to these rude people.

Stay Away, far far away

by bmaple on 09/02/2010

I have purchased a lot of cars over the years and this was the wost dealer I have ever encountered. I inquired over the internet to see if they had a Sonata with navigation and what the price would be. They replied that they did and invited me in and offered apporx $2000.00 off.(so far so good). When I got there I had to ask someone to help me. The salesmen or managers who ever they were were standing around doing nothing and didn't even acknowledge me walking around the showroom and sitting in cars. I finally asked someone to help me. With a glare from this tall guy with glasses who I found out later was the owner. Sorry to bother you guys isn't that what you are there for? They did not want to let me test drive a car until I committed that I would buy one THAT DAY. How do I know if I want to buy the car if I have never driven one? Should have just left when no one approached me, but I was already there so what the heck. I drove the 2011 Sonata and really liked it. They only had a few of them and said no other dealers had many either. BS They did not have one with the Navigation and that is an option I wanted. I asked if they could find me one. They said they needed a deposit and the internet price I was quoted would dissapear if they had to bring me one in.BS I asked them if they had one wioth navigation and they said they did. They also added a destination charge in so the initial price went up by over $700, not that they were gonna honor that price anyway. When I started to get mad regarding the destination charge and the fact that they told me they had a car on the lot that they didn't, the salesman went to get someone. This man named Greg comes over very condesending and says all dealers add on fees to the internet quotes and buyers should expect it. Greg was supposedly the owner. They seemed to be trying not to sell me a car. I am normally an easy going person, but it was getting ridicoulous. When I got up to leave Greg said I would not find the car I was looking for or a better price and I would be back. At that point I told him I would rather pay more somewhere else. Not only did I find the car within minutes of Gregory, I found it for less and I got treated the way someone spending over $24,000 should be treated. Gregory Hyundai and Greg himself are the reason for the negative image that car dealers have. I wish I would have seen these reviews befor wasting three hours at Gregory I found the car and treatment I wanted elsewhere and love my new Sonata.

Don't fall for the Free Oil Change Promise

by chas25 on 05/17/2009

Greg Brodsky and his salesman Keith promised FREE lifetime oil changes every 3,000 miles or 90 days when we purchased our Entourage in Jan 2009. They said that they had a problem with the Illinois States Attorney with their "free oil change program",but they would give us the free oil changes anyway. We have enjoyed our new Entourage (great Van!) and in April called the service dept for our first oil change. They said they kmew nothing about our agreement. We called and did not get return calls. We sent an email to [violative content deleted] and were told that Keith would call to work something out. When we talked Keith claimed that he never promised us free oil changes. Trust me, they both promised us free oil changes! We were nieve enough not to get their promise in writing. They also got us for a $305 door trim package. Here's how thay dit it. Greg and Keith quoted us a price during our first visit to the dealership, when we started looking at buying a van. Greg and Keith repeatedly called us at home until Greg announced that he would lower the quote price by $1000. We returned to the dealership and Greg said he didn't remember making the offer but that he would honor the reduced price. We agreed to buy it. After sitting at the dealership for a couple of hours with our kids waiting for the paperwork, we started signing and found that the price included a $305 add-on. We asked Keith about it and he said that he had a door trim package (a decal and plastic push -on door edging) installed a few days ago. We should have walked out then, but we were frazzled and figured it wasn't that much more money. Don't be timid when dealing with car salesmen!

Stay AWAYYY!!!! Greg the manager is a decpetive [violative content deleted]!

by neveragain10 on 06/02/2008

I have never ever had an experience like this. I thought coming to a store in Highland Park I might get some customer service. Boy was I wrong. I called ahead to see if the car I wanted was in stock, I was assured it was by Greg. When I got there he didn't have time for me and pushed me off to a salesperson. This man was confused when we could not find the car which I came in for. He went to talk to his managers and came back and tried to show me other types of cars. I tried to talk to Greg and he told me that I have to work with my salesperson, he was too busy to help me! I saw him smoking and talking to a young girl outside, guess that was more important then me. We finally settled on a new Sonata, nice car. Then came the dreaded negotiations. Our salesperson came to us with a ridiculous offer, I guess they thought I could not read the window sticker, they tried to sell it to me for more than the sticker said! After the bait and switch I should have expected this. We got up to leave and that is when Greg came running over to us to try and sell us the car. He comes across as a typical used car salesman from the 70's. He keeps repeating himself and cannot look you in the eye when he is not telling the truth! He is rude and very condescending! I do not believe in his tactics to sell a product! He gives Gregory Hyundai a bad name! I feel bad for the other employees and owner(s). He is not someone I would have representing my business or name!

No pressure friendly atmosphere, have and would use this dealer again.

by dpcsaw on 05/22/2008

I wanted to share my experience with this dealer. I had been doing research for a new car for about 3 months, I was almost certain I would get a jeep- I had my family discount. I have used Gregory dodge for the last car I purchased, used, as well as service on it and our other car, I have had nothing but good things to say about that purchase. Now, back to my recent purchase of 05/2008, like I had previously stated, I was planning to purchase a Jeep from Gregory's store in Lake Villa. I had my car in for service and looked around at the Hyundais, while I was waiting for my free shuttle to work. This is when I really looked at this brand. The sale's manager saw me looking, it was before the sales team was around, and we started to talk. He pointed out I could get much more with this brand over the jeep. When I got to work I researched the Santa Fe and I liked what I saw about the car. During the day I had a few questions and Greg was not available, so I talked with Pete and he was also friendly and answered my questions no problem. When I went to pick up the my car I ran into Miriam, service department manager, I told her I was thinking of the Hyundai. She told me it would be my best move to purchase a Hyundai over the jeep, based on what she has seen at the service department. Miriam then took me to see Greg Brodsky, the sales manager, we talked some more and went to look at their large selection, I picked the deep water blue and we talked numbers. Greg looked at my trade, offered what I thought to be a very good number. I told Greg it had to fit in my garage, in order to complete the sale. Since I had been a customer for the past few years, I was lent a Santa Fe to see if it fit. I called Greg right away when I got home and said we had a deal, he informed me that financing was in place. We went in to sign the paperwork and it was over quickly and very relaxed. I might have spent a total of an hour and a half to purchase this car, from start to finish, past car purchases took up to 4 hours and drained us to the point of migraines. After reading the other reviews I can not believe that they are talking about the same dealer that I have been going to over the past 2 years for service and my purchases. Greg was nothing but helpful as well as the sales staff. I have and would again recommend this dealership to anyone who asks! Greg was very friendly to us, the financing department was relaxing and the service department is great! On the way out the owner also named Greg stopped to thanked us for our continual support of his shop- great touch. David sugg

Best place to shop

by ablackman on 05/21/2008

I had been to a couple of dealers before going to Gregory Hyundai. I learned about the car I was interested in, 2007 Azera. People were kind, considerate knowledgeable ansd went out of their way to answer all of the questions posed by myself and my wife. Greg Brodsky, sales manager, acted as if we were friends and I do nhonestly believe we have become friends. I purchased my car from Greg and he has called...followed through and seems to be real interested in making darn sure I am one more satisfied customer. I really fall into this catagory.

WHAT A JOKE! BUT NOT TO FUNNY

by mikeeye on 05/20/2008

This was the worst car buying expierence of my life. I was looking for a peticular vehicle so I called a few dealers. When I called here I talked to the sales manager,Greg Brodsky, and he assured me that he had just the vehicle I was looking for. I made the long trip there and upon talking to the salesman I discovered that the vehicle had never been there! I had just called the [violative content deleted] 2 hrs. before. Needless to say, they did happen to have a different one to sell me at a higher price. Clearly bait and switch. How this Greg guy keeps his job I'll never know. This is the reason people hate going car shopping. I went to another dealer after I left and drove home a new car.(a Mercury) If this dealer is still in business a year from now I'll be shocked.

This place blows!!!!

by frankyb on 05/20/2008

The moment i got there I felt like I wasnt wanted there. I spend 15 mins walking around the lot until someone finally came out and helped me. I was looking to test drive a used Elantra. The salesman was extremely rude and was acting like he didnt want to help at all. I've been to 4 other dealerships that day and this was the first one that was just horrible. When we sat down to work on some numbers they wouldnt even give me an out the door price. They kept trying to land me on a certain payment without telling me what the price is going to be. Then they took the keys to my trade and wouldnt give it back to me until i commited to some deal. Everything about that place was just wrong. I will never go back there.

by santafelover on 05/18/2008

I just bought my dream car at Gregory Hyundai! I am the proud owner of a 2008 Santa Fe and I love it! My brother bought a Sonata here and my sister-in-law bought an Elantra. Both love their cars and said the experience was great, so I went there too. They let me take my time looking and made some great suggestions. The salesman, Fernando showed me how everything works and the General Manger, Greg kept us laughing the whole time we were there. Thanks to Fernando and Greg B!!!

Service was good, but PRICE was great!

by jb1214 on 05/17/2008

This dealership has good service, but I wasn´t looking for special service when I went. Instead, I was concerned about price. And the price that Greg Brodsky (sales manager) was able to get me was great. I saved A LOT of money by buying my car here.

Bad management

by george111 on 05/16/2008

About three weeks ago I had occasion to visit Gregory Hyundai. My initial experience went very well. My salesman, whose name has escaped me, was extremely knowledgeable about the Hyundai product and incentive options. In fact I must say that had I only to deal with the salesman I would have purchased the vehicle on the spot. My salesman was an older gentleman who is probably too good a person to work for a place such as Gregory. The difficulty started when a manager named "Pete" became involved. I only wanted one simple thing concerning the vehicle that my salesman helped me select, the price. Pete managed to alianate myself to the point that I will never set foot in that store again. With his double talk and demeaning attitude I cannot immagine anyone being able to work with him, much less dealing with him as a customer. I ended up purchasing my Hyundai at Loren Hyundai in Glenview and am only sorry that my salesman at Gregory could not make the sale. I f anyone dares entered Gregory Hyundai, at all costs try to avoid Pete. George 111

BEST CAR BUYING EXPERIENCE EVER!!

by jpavalon on 05/15/2008

Before purchasing my vehicle I decided on a reliable and highly rated Hyundai. Then I had to find a dealer. Upon arrival I was met by the General Manager Greg Brodsky. Greg introduced me to Steve Denbroder (his Sales Manager) and we were off to the races. In the past, I've always had to re-negotiate price and go back and forth with the financing. This was NOT the case here. I did my research, understood a fair price and Greg simply honored it! No back and forth, easy-peasy-lemon-squeazy! The way any car buying experience should be! Thanks Gregory Dodge Hyundai! Speacial thanks to Greg and Steve!

Just What I Wanted

by suezlabis on 05/15/2008

My experience at Gregory Hyundai was wonderful. I was in a sea of confusion about what I really wanted, not being much of a car expert. After talking to a salesman, I was directed to the GM Greg Brodsky. He listened to me try to describe what I was looking for, analyzed my priorities, and suggested the Accent. It gets the kind of mileage I can live with. The deal went quickly and debunked all preconceptions about the difficulty of buying a car. Thanks, Greg!

Horrible, horrible sales team, horrible, horrible experiece.

by jillan1959 on 05/11/2008

This was absolutely THE most negative experience I've ever encountered with a car dealership. My daughter and I arrived to look at a used car from cars.com. The car had been sold, but they had another. We were interested in a 2007 Jeep Compass. Greg Brodsky introduced himself, I knew his mother- we thought we were off to a good start. Keith the salesman had no clue which car was which; we found the cars we wanted to look at. We went for a test drive, then came back to talk numbers. Keith and Greg jumbled numbers, then Keith and Greg tried getting me to "sign a note of intent" on the back of a piece of paper if they could get the payment down to what I was comfortable with. They then asked for my credit card to show that we were serious. When Greg arrived at EXACTLY my comfort price, he said he wasn't sure if the owner was going to accept it, but that he'd try. They continuously pushed me to make a final decision. I said I needed to go to lunch, and Keith offered for us to drive it to lunch. He called halfway during lunch, saying someone else was interested in the car. By the end of lunch, I decided to take it, and walked back into the dealership ready to make a deal. Greg looked at us and said, "We just sold the car to someone else." I thought he was joking- I still had the keys in my hand. After a moment of absolute shock, I asked him to explain- he said- someone offered more. I got up to leave- and he said, "Well, maybe we can make it work, but you have to pay $1000 more...I said that wasn't what he had quoted- and he blew it off, saying it was too bad- that the owner never confirmed the price. I was in total shock......Told them their policy was just bull. I left, and about ten minutes later, called the owner, and said- I'm the woman who was just in there about your Compass. He said, "Yeah, I've already heard your story." I reiterated that he did not hear it from me- and he blew me off- each time I tried to explain what this felt like, he interrupted me- so many times I actually screamed at him to stop talking. He was dismissive and belligerent to me....and told me that the salesman Keith had tried to take the car back from me during lunch, and I had shooed him away. This was a bold lie! He also said Keith had told me to take it for 10 minutes- another lie. These people define sleezy car salespeople. High pressure, they work the angles, then pull the bait and switch routine. I would not, under ANY circumstances, trust or do business with ANYONE at Gregory Auto.

Horrible Dealership

by ehteramuddin on 05/06/2008

I bought a Sonata from this dealership about 3 weeks back. Paperwork and everything was signed. Two weeks later I end up getting a call from them saying they need two paystubs and proof of residence to approve my loan. I was out of town at the time. I came back and faxed them the paperwork that was needed because the dealership is an hour away from me. A day later I get a call from the Greg Brodsky (Head Manager) threatening me that he's going to call the police and report the car stolen since I did'nt come in. I had told him I faxed the paperwork and called to make sure that they had received it. He said well I still need you to come in and redo the contract. They should've done it right the first time and now they're threatening me. Your better off going to another dealership rather than being robbed and cheated by this one. When I was at the dealership they pleaded me to give them a 10 out of 10 on edmunds so their reputation would look good.

An Excellent Experience

by ricbon on 04/14/2008

Last month I had the pleasure of buying my sons a new Hyundai Elantra from Gregory Hyundai in Highland Park, Illinois. Our sales person Mohammed and general manager Greg Brodsky couldn't have been more informative and helpful in helping us make a decision, WITH NO SALES PRESSURE! We got a great price and felt very comfortable throughout our entrie experience there. I have purchased many cars in the past and I generally do not enjoy dealing with the process of purchasing a car, but these two gentlemen made this purchase an enjoyable one. I would not hesitate to recommend Gregory Hyundai to anyone looking for a great deal on a great car. My kids love their Elantra!

Sleazy

by sannettie on 04/11/2008

The salesman, Bill, was not particularly knowledgeable, tho a nice enough fellow. But when it got to the price part, Pete, the manager, appears--and that killed the deal. He wouldn't give me a straight answer about a price. He told me to shop around and then I'd come "begging" back to him. Sorry, Pete, I don't beg for a car. This is a buyers' market, in case you haven't noticed. Poor Bill, you killed the sale for him.

Good Place to Buy a Car

by acer515 on 04/05/2008

My car experience at Gregory Hyundai was great. I was told by my friend that Highland Park was the place to buy a Hyundai, It was a little further than my local dealer, but went anyway. I was surprised that both the owner Greg Mauro and the General Manager Greg Brodsky were available to answer my questions. I test drove a Sonata and was told about the curreent rebate available. I was given a better price and free lifetime oil changes. I found the staff to be friendly and courtious. I have recently had my first oil change, Myriam is fantastic! I would highly recommend Gregory Hyundai.
