New Car Purchase - Volvo XC 90 T-5

My sales reps (Adam and Dirk) worked hard to make this sale happen. We were able to negotiate a win-win situation in about 3 hours. I have purchased a Hyundai from Adam prior to this purchase and have referred at least 10 others who have purchased as well. Dirk demonstrated a vast knowledge of the product and took great pride in this car as well as working with us to make the deal. He and Adam made a great team. Looking forward to continuing my relationship with this dealership. Only disappointment was with the lack of a rear view mirror with homelink capabilities. Based on the technology in the Volvo, I was surprised that this feature wasn't part of the basic package as in most cars. I intend on addressing this issue as I have requested a contact name/number for a rep from Volvo. I was told that this item could be installed for an additional fee and that this was a feature in a different package. I still think that thus should be part of the basic package. The car I traded in was not near as expensive as the Volvo but did have this feature. This issue has nothing to do with the sales experience as it was very positive.

Sales manager was fantastic

I read about the bad experience someone had with one of the salesman. My experience was excellent. It was because of the sales manager Dirk G. He explained everything to me, asked me to drive with a salesman who wasn't impressive. That salesman was a typical car salesman and he wasn't still working there a few weeks later. The sales manager, Dirk G, was a treat to work with, different from any auto sales person I had encountered before. Most auto salespeople talk big and under deliver. Dirk wasn't like that. He was very knowledgeable about the vehicle and its features. He told me the truth. He made promises and stuck to them. He made sure I would get the vehicles on time before I went on a driving vacation. Her brought the vehicle to my office instead of my having to drive to the dealership. He spent lots of time educating me on how to use the computer features AFTER we received the vehicles. Even months after getting the vehicle he is still available for questions or issues. He recently helped arrange a warranty repair and a free loaner. As long as Mr. G is there I will continue to do my automobile business with him.

No honesty sold here - just old fashioned car dealer cons

Don't believe a word they say unless you see it in print first and get a copy. Also don't look for support from Management. If not lying, then trying to play a con game is obviously the norm, encouraged and condoned at this place. They told me over the phone to drive in immediately and if I did they would sell me the car I wanted for a fixed stated amount with the very detailed spec that I required included in the price. I had completed a "Build a car" exercise on the Volvo website, so I had it clearly identified. (Incidentally, the previous day when I visited the store I gave a copy to the salesman and he said he wrote down all the specs etc). When I arrived at the store 2 hours after the phone call, the salesman appeared and I insisted on going over the spec's, suddenly he claimed to forget what specs I had always wanted and even denied saying it over the phone when he called me earlier, even though I wrote down the salesman's detailed read back to me of the specs I wanted while he actually said it over the phone. Obviously they thought that having driven all that way I would just accept things, I am not a fool. The salesman never tried to apologize or even attempt to cover up his attempted con. When I challenged him, he just told me to "Go buy elsewhere if I didn't like it". I went to the GM who only said he could do nothing. Later that day I bought a car from another Volvo dealer with the spec and the Price I wanted and more importantly I was treated like a valued customer with a view to a long term relationship - Don't like be taken for a fool, avoid this Wallace store like the plague, in over 30 years in the car buying business they are the worst I have ever come across. There are good honest Dealers about just don't accept this old fashioned car dealership nonsense from Wallace.
