World Class Experience

Michael Opperman was definitely a blessing in disguise with his commitment and professionalism towards the Toyota Brand. His commitment towards my concerns were outstanding. Not so good, 2.5 level communication and dealer add-on fees...

01/27/2023; I sent this review directly to the GM of the dealership. As I told him, this turned into the typical car (truck in my case) buying experience, and it left a bad taste in my mouth. The positive? I did buy the truck. I really like the truck, and I am glad I got this Gen 3 before they are sold out. But as I told the GM, if it were a "normal" vehicle buying market, and not upside down as it currently is, I would have gone elsewhere. See my full review below. 2/2.5 of 5 for Andrew Toyota. The NOT SO GOOD: A few things right out of the gate were MAJOR turn offs. 1) They add "Andrew Guard" to interior and exterior; this amounts to a wax and scotch guard (or similar), and charges $895 for it. When asked to omit this, they say it is "installed" on all new vehicles. This is an absurd way of making extra pure profit. 2) They add on additional "dealer installed" options, namely a Lo Jack, and charge over $1k to the vehicle. This is on a separate sticker, and it is not listed on the online price (the only way I found out was to stop by when the dealership was closed and looking at the vehicle in person). This is in addition to a $395 "service charge" tacked on. If I'm not mistaken, the car dealer is in the business of providing "service" to the customer, yet they feel the need to hide more profit in the vehicle price. 3) Communication with dealership, namely sales and finance. The communication starts off well enough when they're trying to get you in the door. Once they know you are buying, the level of communication drops off markedly, either deliberately, by oversight or from sheer incompetence. For example, day #1; they text with me, and I call to give a deposit to hold the vehicle I want to buy. Communication was good, was timely and helpful. However, later in the day, I tried to text and got no response. The next morning, I texted several times, got no response. I called the dealer land line around open time (9am), and spoke with a woman who said workers were in a "sales meeting", and they cannot be interrupted. I explain I am on the way to the dealer to pick up the vehicle I have purchased; she says the salesman will know this, and I explain I had not heard from him even after several attempts to contact via text. She says she will put me through to his VM; I ask that she place a note on his desk, telling him I am on the way, and tell him this (she does not ask for my name, saying he can look it up by phone #. I give my name and vehicle info anyway.) This note never gets delivered, per the salesman. The salesman also says tech never got in touch with him about my texts. The salesman said he should have called me, but did not want to be a bother. Also, finance was supposed to call me on day #1, per their email, but they never called. It was almost like all these people do not want to sell the vehicle, expecting it to sell itself. Odd way of running a sales driven business, IMO. Communication rates at "F". Day #2; I show up (in the timeframe I said I would), ask the salesman if his phone was broken, since I got no call back from anyone, nor response to my multiple texts. The vehicle is not ready for pickup. I deal with finance dept, and this is the smoothest part of this entire transaction. I have to then wait about another hour while the vehicle was prepped for me. Time is money, Andrew Toyota, and you should have reimbursed me for my wasted time on this day. The GOOD: -The vehicle was clean (despite nasty weather), plates were on, all-weather mats were installed, and it had a full tank of gas. -The sale manager (or whomever makes the call) took off the ridiculous Lo Jack fee, with no stink or posturing. FYI to other buyers-this is a completely unnecessary option in this day and age. DO NOT pay $1k plus for this, when you can install your own GPS device for under $30. This is simply another dealer add-on which results in pure profit at the customer's expense. If they had refused to remove this fee, I would have walked out. -They had the vehicle with the one particular option I wanted. As you can see, the list of NOT SO GOOD heavily outweighs the GOOD. Would I shop Andrew Toyota again? Probably not, nor would I recommend my friends or family go shop there. To be brutally honest, I went there simply because they had the one vehicle with the one option I wanted, within a 500-mile radius. This experience reinforces my opinion of the "average car dealer", and why car shopping can be so aggravating.

Price gauging, inexcusable, and bordering on usury.

Kevin Burgher, general manager, did not respond to my email. One-star relates to dealership integrity. After being aware that this is the fifth Toyota purchased in six years, Andrew Toyota charged a $3,000 premium to purchase a Toyota Avalon Hybrid. This is price gauging, inexcusable, and bordering on usury.

World class service

Recently bought a used car, likely the least expensive in their inventory but was treated as if it was their most important sale. Jessi was professional and knowledgeable yet friendly. A surprisingly pleasant experience at a car dealership!

Communication, counsel and a car!

After waiting patiently for the new car we wanted, we recently took delivery of a 2022 Toyota Highlander Platinum Hybrid. As anticipated, the vehicle is beautiful, efficient, and quiet. Sales professional Steve Butcher kept us informed and provided good counsel on the inventory situation. He provided a terrific vehicle orientation. We are loyal Andrew and Toyota customers. Sales and service are great.

Disappearing Act

We drove from Oshkosh to Andrew Toyota in Milwaukee for a pre-scheduled test drive of a 2018 Equinox. Very disappointed to hear that it had sold. I would have appreciated a phone call, text or message letting me know this before we made the trip. Our sales persoon Jeff was very helpful and made it possible for me to purchase an Escape with the featues I wanted and within our budget.

Will never do business with Andrew Toyota again

Will never do business with Andrew Toyota again. My wife and I saw a used SUV on Andrew Toyota’s website. Saturday, April 9th late in the day (4pm) we went to the dealership to purchase the vehicle at the price listed. Our salesperson, Renee Chamberlain while showing us the SUV lied to us that the 2019 vehicle with 28,000 miles had “new” tires when clearly the tires were used. When I asked if there was remaining warranty on the vehicle, I was told no, even though I later found out from your financing person that there was 19 months and 32,000 miles left on the manufacturer’s warranty. I mentioned to Renee that there were scratches in both the driver’s side and passenger doors. Renee said that they could not do anything about it because they did not have body shop staff available. She made no offer to have the SUV brought back to have the scratches buffed out. While going through the pricing Renee insisted that the ANDREWSHIELD @ $895 had to be included in the deal. It took me 5 requests to remove the charge and I threatened to walk out before the charge was removed. We put $3,000 down on the vehicle and I told Renee that I was preapproved for a car loan from our credit union, and we could finish up the transaction on Monday morning. I was told that the deal had to be finalized that day and I had to use your financing because the car would be sold to someone else between 5pm Saturday and 9am Monday morning. The entire process was rushed, and my wife and I felt like we were nothing more than a bother. I understand that financing is a profit center for a dealership, but I did not think Renee handled the situation well at all. Her attitude seems to be “say ANYTHING you think the buyer wants to hear just to get a sale.” I would rather have honest answers. At home that night while I was reviewing copies of the paperwork, there was an agreement that the finance person had signed both as the customer and the dealer. Starting Monday morning It took me 4 phone calls and 3 voice mails over 2 days to reach someone who could explain what the document was. I was told that it was for a complimentary oil change and tire rotation. Nowhere on the document did it even mention this. Neither Renee nor the Finance people ever mentioned this. I would think this is something that your people would hype as a benefit. Nothing was said during our entire time at the dealership. On Monday, we took the vehicle to our local body shop who took care of the scratches in less than an hour of shop time. Our cost for your salesperson’s poor salesmanship, $80. Also on Monday, my credit union began the process to refinance the loan for 0.50% lower rate and at a term length that I wanted. We came to your dealership to buy the vehicle on your website at the price that was listed. The hell your staff put us through so that we could buy the vehicle was something that I would never recommend to anyone. On the contrary I am going to actively recommend to people to stay away from your dealership.

Customer Service experience

Customer service is very important to me. I must say I was given exactly what I desired as far as what I came there for. No pressure from my salesperson told him what I wanted and that is how I was accommodated. .Never tried to stir me away just really don't have all the words to describe my experience at Andrew Toyota from top(manager) to bottom(detailer) My salesperson again along with all others made it more than worth my time. THANK YOU ALL!

If you are thinking about a new/used toyota, I suggest you contact Steve Butcher @Andrew Toyota. I recently purchased a 2018 Highlander from them and Steve was polite,pleasant, and very knowlegable about the suv. He answered all questions my wife and I had.One last point is Steve followed up After the sale and again answered a few questions I had. To me service After the sale is very important.

When my car was totaled in an accident, I dreaded finding a new one. All of the hassle that comes along with buying a new car was really overwhelming for me, until I worked with Andrew Toyota. They made the car buying experience quick and enjoyable, which I did not think was possible! Deandre quickly found me a car that had all of the features I loved about my old car, plus more! I came with my own financing, they beat the rate by over 1%. It was a pleasure working with Andrew Toyota.

Honestly it was unexpected and a smidge overwhelming but I got what I needed and have been wanting for long time and the service was excellent. Jimmy was so nice and could relate to my personality life I felt welcomed and comfortable.
