McGrath Honda in Elgin is the best Honda dealership

I looked around for a car at all the local dealerships but one thing that stood out to me at the McGrath Honda in Elgin was the customer service. I had Luis help me find exactly what I wanted for the best possible price. He was very patient with me until I made a final decision. I would highly recommend this dealership to anyone! 10/10 service, communication and negotiation.

Caution, turn around and take your business elsewhere! Don’t make the same mistake we did, bad reviews on multiple sites are accurate! Dishonest practices, poor communication throughout, lack of management presence, buyer beware! Vehicle was listed on site, appt set for test drive, we were ready to buy but identified simple two issues, told we couldn’t buy as they had not ever even serviced it at all despite site saying otherwise, simple issues took four days to fix, told they were fixed but that other buyers came after us and if they came first it would be sold to them instead, rushed in only to find neither issue had been resolved. Dishonest practice, poor communication, absence of management, untrained sales man who clearly had no support by his manager Joe who hung him and us the client out to dry, and zero follow up by management despite voicing frustration. Walked away in fear if simple issues which we pointed out weren’t addressed, then if servicing inspection actually did happen, then what potential unknown bigger issues did they miss. No manager follow up, mislead by management and salesman throughout, shady servicing department practices! Scary to think this is an ok customer service experience in McGraths eyes, especially for first time potential clients. We will strongly discourage friends and family to avoid this place to ensure they don’t experience the same run around, frustration, and disappointment we had!

Unexpected day when I drive and I stop by at McGrath Honda Elgin I'll meet this guy name Al H. And I only ask about the used 2018 Honda Civic hatchback he is the a very good guy 👍 he do everything for me to get the 2018 Honda Civic with no problem at all... and all the stop are very helpful thanks guys. Awesome experience

We've been shopping around for compact suv for the past 3wks, we decided to visit the dealership without an appt. Dealership is huge and very well kept. All Honda vehicles are available in the showroom,unlike some that only has a few ones.We met Shabeki, he welcomed us at the dealership. He said he is new, but he is very knowledgeable about the vehicle that we wanted. What we liked is that they are not pushy and will make you feel comfortable throughout the buying process. We got the price that we wanted in our budget and Greg from the finance even made adjustment to our monthlies and lowered the price with few bucks. We made a great deal and brought home the LP adventure crv that same day.

Didn't feel very welcomed upon arriving after driving an hour and a half to look at an Acura they had advertised. I spoke with Nicole and clarified specifically what I was coming to look at. When I arrived, she had me work with a new salesman (forgot his name) who had just recently came from another country. He immediately, wanted my driver's license and was ready to start processing paperwork for a purchase. I told him I came to inspect the vehicle and test drive it first. He spoke with Nicole among a few other staff as he made a copy of my driver's license. He then went to retrieve the vehicle and immediately, me and my husband noticed it was completely filthy. Dirty inside and out, and needed detailing. Because of the pandemic, we thought it would be alright if we test drove the vehicle on our own but, the salesman accompanied us. No other dealership I've visited during the pandemic has rode with us on a test drive. So, no social distancing at all in the vehicle of 3. Because the salesman still wasn't familiar with the area of the dealership, I slammed on the brakes at the last minute to make turns or, spent time asking him which way he wanted us to go. The salesman NEVER bothered to provide me with any information on the vehicle, other than trying to help my husband adjust the a/c. He just sat in the backseat talking about where he was from, and said nothing about the vehicle. I definitely didn't have a good experience at this dealership. I felt like because of my race, they felt like I was going to take off with the car despite, my own personal vehicle being parked on their lot. Why did the guy ride with me and my husband during a pandemic? Weird and unsafe. I couldn't even get a good feel of the vehicle because I was irritated and feeling some kind of way about the salesman being in the car. Doesn't matter if he had a mask on. However, at the end of the day, this dealership didn't try hard enough to make a sale. The new salesman needs a lot of training and the staff needs to just do better altogether. I didn't feel welcomed at all. I didn't even bother going back inside the dealership to talk to the manager about the vehicle to make a sale. However, 5 minutes into driving away, the dealership started calling, I didn't pick up and blocked their call. Sorry, no sale from me. 0 stars, actually.

Purchased my car From McGrath and I couldn't be happier. My salesman was Elvis, and he did an outstanding job helping me find a vehicle that met my needs and still was within my budget. I was amazed that he knew every detail about the vehicle I was looking at. Referred a friend to buy a car, sent him to see Elvis, and he was also met with the same great service and he found his dream vehicle as well. Definitely will be sending all my family ad friends to see Elvis and McGrath! They'll definitely take care of you!

Going wisdom is that car salesmen are scum. But I'm here to tell everyone about an awesome experience I had at McGrath Honda in Elgin. I went in suspicious, as you are supposed to be, and came out not only in a new car, but also making a few new friends. Because of student loans and some bad life decisions my credit was, to put it lightly, a little shaky. I went to two other dealerships where they wasted my time, ran my credit, and basically told me to come back with cash or a co-signer. At McGrath I got to work with a fantastic team; Josh Koch was my Finance guy and performed a miracle to get the bank to say yes. He got me approved in just a couple of hours. His manager; Mohammed found me a salesperson; Michael Malak - who found just the right car for me. I'm telling you. If you have problems, go see these guys. They are the bomb!

After a car accd. We are looking to replace the car that was totaled. Safe was the most important to us seeing my accd was not a fun recovery. Kim helped us fun what we want with needs and the safety we were looking for. She was able to find the color and the extras that we asked for. This is our 3rd car from McGrath Honda and when its the next car Kim will be our go to girl :) My step-son is now in the market and will being seeing Kim in the near future. Thank You Kim!!!!

Everybody loves driving a new car. I don't know anybody who loves buying a new car. Our experience with Kim Burkett at McGrath was so contrary to the high-pressure sales headache that I feared. I had a lot of good questions, and Kim had a lot of good answers. She was friendly, professional, and knew the CR-V in detail. She worked with us to find the right car at the right price, and then provided follow-up as needed to make sure that we were completely satisfied. Overall, it was a very positive experience and I would recommend Kim to anyone interested in exploring new Hondas.

Worst Experience on my 1st car

I called them in the morning to confirm if they had the car with the specification i was looking for in a Civic.(I was looking for a white exterior and ivory interior) they said they have it and after i drove there for 1 hour they say that they do no have it in stock. The manager suggested me to go for Accord. since i wanted to take the car on that day i said okay. they gave me a price and i took the car, drove it home and after two days they call me and say that the loan wasn't approved ( i have informed them about the visa and everything prior very clearly) and asked me take get a loan from some other bank. with out my permission they checked with all the banks and i had 8 hard inquiries on my credit check(which i dint want and informed them before about this as well) . i got the loan approved in just an hour from other bank and asked them to send the purchase order to me and now they say that the price of the car has increased coz i dint take a loan from Honda which is really frustrating. The manager promised me that price so i went for Accord even though my budget wasn't that much. And the Finance guy dint want to send the Purchase order to me and he sent it directly to the bank. The document which is he sent them wasn't in proper format and they were unable to open it and sent an email to him copying me to send it over again. When i asked the finance guy at Honda for the status he sounded so rude saying, i want the check by Wednesday else i have to cancel the registration.( when he wanted to deal with the bank directly and sent the purchase order to them and now he sends me an email saying i want the check-) These people are good until you take the car. once u take it there ends the way they treat you. They do not respond back, even if they respond they are so rude. Overall i had a very bad experience and would never recommend anybody to go to McGrath Honda Elgin

Purchased a new Honda 2017 CRV in July from McGrath Honda in Elgin, IL. It is my 3rd one (had a 2005 & 2010) and my last one was also from McGrath. When I decided to get another one, I definitely wanted to buy it from them. It is a fantastic dealership and has the best sales and service departments. I worked with Darek who was so helpful and amazingly knowledgeable-especially with all the new technology the CRV offers. Darek was respectful, kind, and extremely patient and responsive to my "many" questions and concerns. Working with him was one of the main reasons I purchased from McGrath Elgin. I will always be thankful for his help and the great deal I got. Being my third CRV, it has been exciting having all the changes and upgrades through the years. My 2017 is fantastic. It is so sharp looking and luxurious. So much new technology and thank goodness for Darek who taught me so much so I can enjoy it. You need to see it and drive it to appreciate the experience. Thank you Darek & thank you McGrath! Also thank you Scott in Service for all of your help with maintenance of my 2010.

The staff welcomed us immediately, and Aldo work hard to get us the best rate available. The amount of time it took was relatively low compared to other dealerships. It was definitely worth buying again from McGrath Honda in Elgin, and I would definitely recommend anyone to come here for their car needs. Ask for Aldo Mendoza. He was very helpful.
