Overview
The Acura ZDX is the luxury automaker's first all-electric vehicle, a two-row midsize SUV with impressive tech features and driving aids, as well as a roomy, well-appointed cabin. Like its sibling, the Honda Prologue, the ZDX is based on GM's Ultium platform, which underpins vehicles like the Cadillac Lyriq and Chevy Blazer EV. The ZDX also borrows GM's Super Cruise hands-free driving capability, though Acura calls it "Hands Free Cruise" instead.
Edmunds spotlight: Sporty Type S
Acura offers a sporty Type S variant of most of its vehicles, and the ZDX is no exception. We even think the Type S is the one to get. It comes with dual-motor all-wheel drive and pumps out 499 horsepower, enough to move the ZDX from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds in our testing. The Type S also adds adaptive dampers and Brembo brakes for improved handling and stopping power. On top of all that, it put up a big number on the Edmunds EV Range Test, blowing well past its estimated 278 miles of range to cover 316 miles on a full charge.
Competitors to consider
You don't have to wander far to find the ZDX's main competitor: the Cadillac Lyriq, which shares the same platform with the Acura and is a bit more affordable (and we think its interior is a little nicer too). Then there's the Genesis Electrified GV70, a vehicle that's down on range compared to the ZDX but offers greater refinement and a fantastic cabin. And if you're willing to climb up in price, the BMW's iX is awesome to drive and offers even more range in some configurations.
