40,000 and counting

I have owned my Corolla S for just over 2 years now and put 43,000 miles on it so far. It lacks in the power, but makes up for it with 34-36 mpg. Handling is decent. Interior comfort is good, I drive for about 2 hours a day. I have not had any mechanical issues with the car yet and as for the recalls maybe people should take some defensive driving lessons or learn how to turn the ignition off and stop trying to get rich off of Toyota. Toyota was very good about taking care of the recalls and if I had to do it over again, I would without a doubt buy this car. Overall a great small car.

Sort and sweet. 3 recalls unsure if my car was ever safe to drive. An interior that constantly squeaks. Finally the last straw at 68k I'm told I need a new transmission because I'm getting a clicking noise whenever I take my foot of the gas they say its a broken tooth on the pinion drive gear..... There's your legendary reliability. I wonder how much pro reviewers get paid to praise these cars.

I bought this car brand new and have owned it for 9 years now. I believe it was totally worth the money. I saw a review earlier saying that the owner was 6 foot tall and the car was far to cramped for them. But I am 6 foot even, and a hefty guy and I've had no problems at all. Knees dont touch the steering wheel at all. In fact, the steering wheel has an adjustment lever you pull to lift or lower to your tastes. The stock radio likely wont have bluetooth, but you can replace it for a hundred dollars if you wish and get a decent head unit. Ive had 3 "repairs" done throughout the life of the car. First, the radio tuning knob stopped working occasionally. Wasn't a big deal, and dealership replaced it free immediately. Second, the water pump went out near the end of the warranty. Luckily dealership caught it a week before warranty ended. Third, one ignition coil went bad, but this is just a maintenance part really. Cost 50 bucks, and its just a single bolt that holds it in place and was easily within reach. I only have 2 complaints. 1. The car doesn't come with a intermittent wiper speed (which is just annoying if anything). Only slow, medium and fast. 2. When I first started driving it, I found that the car was hard to keep centered on the road, but it is something I have grown used to and have easily adjusted for.

My 2nd Corolla

I still own my very first Toyota which is a 2002 Corolla LE which has 180,000 as of writing this review. Knowing it's getting old and burning oil, I figured it was time to buy a back up. I came across a used XLE with only 28,000 miles on it. Since it has the 16" wheels, the highway ride is comparable to that of a Camry. You'd quickly be reminded you are not in a Camry once you need to pass another vehicle and that's when reality sets in. I would love to know how ANY of you get 35MPG or more as my car never got better than 32.5 and it is driven mostly highway. Toyota alleges 35, but I say no way as the average highway speed is 75MPH.

I have 72k miles on my car and it has not given me any problems so far. Absolutely love this car and will be keeping it for awhile. Lacks on power on highway when passing but I usually put the car in 3rd gear and haul tail. I travel alot and have noticed my car gets around 40-45 mpg highway, thats when i add fuel cleaner and gas treatment. I also put a k&n air filter in it as well and it has improved on performance and gas mileage. I had a 1999 camry and totaled it, had around 145k miles on it and it was also a good vehicle as well. Will definately buy a new corolla when i want a new car.
