Morally Reprehensible

by sdlustberg on 02/11/2016

Lakeside Toyota is the most morally reprehensible dealership I have ever done business with - and I own a car affected by the VW emissions scandal! I went to the dealership by myself on December 28 and was treated so poorly by Carlos Betancourt, a salesman, and the manager (whose name I unfortunately did not catch) that I ultimately walked out of the dealership. My husband called the next day and spoke with Bob Licht, another salesman, who apologized for the situation and offered to right the wrong that was done. Although Mr. Licht was ultimately able to get us in a 2016 RAV4 XLE, we were unable to take advantage of the 0% financing due to it only applying to the 2015 models, which were out of stock. We asked when the 0% financing might apply to the 2016 models and were told "not anytime soon." Though we didn't need to make a purchase that day, we decided not to wait due to the fact that the 0% financing deal wouldn't be available for 2016 models in the near future. Fast forward to January 5, exactly one week after we made our purchase: 0% financing is now available for 2016 models! When my husband reached out to Mr. Licht about refinancing we were told this was not an option because the car was now considered used. Never in my life have I experienced such poor "customer service" (if you can even call it that). I will make certain that my family and friends know about my experience and don't patronize Lakeside Toyota in the future.

Worst Experience of my Life!

by dixiejill on 06/03/2009

Had to watch Salesman like a hook as we felt like he kept trying the bait and switch action. Agree to price but when we got to finance dept it seemed as though the price included the $4,000 deposit and the note we expected was $200 higher per month! Brought in Manager above Finance Manager who was ruder than the first 2. Ended up walking out on all the deals and went elsewhere never to return.

Best Toyota Dealership (of the three I have dealt with)

by keitharnold on 04/17/2008

I was very pleased with my experience in buying a Tundra truck for fifth wheel towing (5.7 liter V8, double cab, long bed) at this dealership. My salesman admitted right away that he had little experience with trucks, and connected me with Mr. Patrick Mullett, a Sales and Leasing Consultant. Mr. Mullett really knew his stuff, and almost immediately found exactly the truck I wanted on another dealer's lot. It had one option (alloy wheels) I didn't want, and I was told those could be swapped out. One hour, no high pressure. When I later deceided to negotiate for that truck, my salesman was out sick, so I negotiated with Mr. Mullett. After approx. another hour's negotiation, we agreed on a price close to what Edmunds posted as "what others were paying". No surprises at closing, the agreed price was the "real" price. Overall, the best and most ethical car buying experience I have ever experienced.

These people are just not with it

by nola3716 on 02/07/2008

I purchased my new vehicle on month ago. So far there have been paper problems that required our driving over ten miles one way to bail them out, not once but twice. No wheel lock key in vehicle, no help from the dealer. They wanted me to stand around while they attempted to remove the wheel locks and replace them. Not the way I thought it should work. While they were trying to find a key (searching other vehicles, this is probably what happened to mine) they let my dog out the back of my vehicle. They did not ask, they just started searching the vehicle, in other words I am not capable of finding the key. They will not return phone calls that I have made. The reason I called was to get an explanation on why the contract on my unit had not been sent through. When I finally got someone they brushed me off to some clerk. I called the Toyota customer service number and they were of no help at all. They forwarded my complaint to the dealership. Now that was a really big help, Toyota promised I would hear from someone in three days, now it has been five and not a word. Should I have expected something different? I am not used to getting this type of treatment from someone I pay good money to. My advice is find another dealer at all costs.
