[non-permissible content removed] Give Car Salesmen A Bad Rap

by Veronica on 12/01/2020

Have had horrific experiences with BOTH the New Car Sales Department (Manager Colin Morris and Salesmen Nicholas Bloemer) AND the Service Department (Service Advisor Daniel Hansen). Colin and Nick are l[non-permissible content removed] , and Daniel not only failed to do anything to help my car in the SIX DAYS he had it, but his crew re-installed the windshield wipers incorrectly, cracking my windshield. Although Toyota ranks high in new trucks, my family will likely not buy one because our local dealer is so GOD AWFUL at their jobs. Plus, their response to the pandemic is scary at best.

Horrible to deal with. I would have given them zero stars but not an option

I selected a certified pre-owned 2011 Toyota 4runner Limited. I new exactly what I wanted to pay and offered that price. The salesman tried his sales tactics such as "I like you and this is the price I could get you" ($3000 above my offer). I refused and walked out. My wife gets another call 3 weeks later from a different sales person telling her that he has a "serious" buyer for the car coming in from out of town the next day and that if she still wants the car, she may want to come buy it not. Feeling strongly certain he was making it up, we did not go back. Later that week, I noticed the car was in the same place, so I stopped in and told the sales person (nice tone but sarcastic intent) that I appreciate him calling us to gives us a heads up on that serious buyer. He said that the person did not come in (what a surprise). I then flipped the table. I said that I was on my way to another dealer to buy a similar car and that if he wanted to get a sale, this was his last chance. We agreed on a price, which was what I originally offered a few weeks before. After signing the papers, I was given ONE key. I asked where the other key was and it was then told to me that there was no guarantee that you get 2 keys with the car (ridiculous). They said that they would work with me and give me an additional key for their cost ($275). Reluctantly, I agreed. My wife then noticed 3 chips in the windshield. They said that that shouldn't present a problem on the road. We asked for the windshield to be replaced. They did replace the windshield. When I went to pick the car up the next day, they said that they were checking the tire pressure. I insisted that I inspect the tires before taking possession of the vehicle. The right front tire had a screw in it. They said that they would plug it for me. I emphatically refused and said that I am not spending over 30K to get a car with a plugged tire. They finally agreed to replace the tire but after speaking with my mechanic he said that since the tires had 20K miles of tread worn off, it would be best to replace 2 tires (both back) because the difference in the tread could cause alignment issues. My wife called the dealership and spoke with the used car sales manager who was rude to her and said that they had done enough and that they would not give us the other tire. Later that evening, I went in to speak to this gentleman (?). I asked if we could go into his office. We did, and then I asked if I could close the door..he said yes. As I was sitting in my chair, the first words out of his mouth were, " Look, if you want to back out of the f'ing deal, I really don't give a sh**. Surprised, I said excuse me, those are the first words you chose to speak to me. He said the he thought I was coming in to get the other tire. I said, I was coming in to discuss a resolution to the problem. At this point I stood up to walk out and he said, please sit down, I apologize..sincerely. I told him, "you know I will tell you what I tell my kids, saying your sorry if ok but it is never as good as not doing it in the first place". I then told him "that although you took back your words, the one thing you couldn't take back was my heart rate beating in my chest because I was fighting every instinct to jump across that desk and whip his behind". I then said, I apologize.....sincerely.....you see it really is an empty apology isn't it. Reluctantly, I stayed because my wife wanted the car. After our discussion, he agreed to give me the other tire. The next day, I picked up the car and there were 2 new tires on the vehicle. The only problem was that they were on the same side of the vehicle (passenger side front and back). The salesman told me that was correct because "now each side would wear evenly". I told the salesman "either you're stupid or you think I am and I don't like the answer to either one". They rotated the tires. As they were doing so, I spoke to a service person and told him this was ridiculous. He agreed and said that he was instructed by the sales department to put the tires on the passenger side of the car and he was just doing what he was told. I finally (reluctantly) took possession of the car. When I got it home, I noticed some marks on the car that were not there before and the inside of the car was filthy. The headsets for the entertainment center had caked of food grime all over them. This was the final straw. Regardless of the grief I would get from my wife, the car was going back. The next day, I dropped my wife's current car off for service and also brought the recently purchased car back. I spoke with the finance manager, who was the only professional in the whole transaction, and he agree to take the vehicle back. He said that it is ultimately about customer service and by doing so, he hoped to earn my business in the future......fat chance! This is a real shame, we purchased our current 4runner from them 10 years ago and had a great experience. I will never use this dealership again and encourage others to be careful. I am in the process of buying a new 4runner from a dealer 100 miles away. The drive is worth it to me.

Mixed results and feelings

They sold me a car I like more than what I thought I wanted. But they are unhelpful in getting me a manual that describes the navigation system IN my car! Nor will they get me an updated map!

Car buying made easy

by lsulacey on 12/05/2011

I did all my pricing beforehand via email with many dealerships in the area. Not only did this dealer come back with the best price before I ever hit the lot, I got a 2012 instead of a 2011 for just a little bit more than I was quoted for a 2011. more. The trade, financing, and delivery process went smoothly and I'll definitely be buying from them in the future.
