Toyota Purchase

by hagaman on 06/11/2008

On May 12, 2008 I traded a 2004 Ford Explorer at Forts Toyota in North Pekin for a 2008 Toyota Prius. The used car manager tested the Explorer and determined that there was something wrong with the AWD system. The dealership offered me a low trade in amount due to some mechanical problems, however they were very curious as if I had an extended warranty. I told them I did and that we could hold off while I get it checked. I was told not to worry about it because it wouldn't effect my trade.I should have gotten suspicious at that point, but I went ahead with the trade.Imagine my surprise when app. two weeks later I got a call while eating supper from Uftring Ford asking if I was satisfied with the warranty work I had done on May 22nd ( 10 days after the trade ). I was due a refund on the unused portion of my extended warranty which had at this point been voided. I went to the local police and after some legwork Uftring Ford returned my warranty money. I called Toyota who had the dealership call me. When I talked to them they never offered an apology or a fair trade value on my vehicle and denied that using a warranty that I paid for and is not transferable to dealers was wrong. To them it seemed like business as usual. Uftring tells me they have since billed Forts.I obtained a copy of the original service invoice where all of the work was done using my name and information as if ( I ) had brought it in. No apologies offered and they still deny it was wrong.
