Wrong diagnosis

onI was sent to Tim Short from another mechanic due to an issue with my TIPM/PCM In my Jeep Liberty. Due to the high cost of repair, the dealership wanted to do their own diagnostics to ensure that was in fact the problem. I didn't want to be out any more money on the vehicle so I authorized 2 hours (@ $125/hr) to diagnose the problem. After several days of calling and waiting for them to even look at the vehicle I was told I had a bad TIPM but they couldn't test the PCM because the TIPM was bad. They wanted over $3000 for repairs so I opted to tow the vehicle home. Since I was told I for sure had a bad TIPM I found a company that would repair it for a reasonable price and went that route. Turns out there was in fact NOTHING wrong with my TIPM and was out $250 to Tim Short for an incorrect diagnosis. Waste of my time and money. On a positive note, the people in the service department were pleasant to deal with.

onI had battery issues on a 30-month old vehicle I purchased from Tim Short Hyundai. I went to an autoparts shop to buy a new battery and they told me two things. 1. They couldn't test the battery because it was showing an error that my vehicle was still running when it wasn't and 2. that the battery should still be under warranty with Hyundai. REALLY!?!? A 2 and a half year old battery under warranty from the original purchase? I expected that to fall under things like tires that weren't covered. But I called and sure enough, my battery had a 3 year warranty on it. So I scheduled a service appointment. I won't go into details but I had a conversation with one of the service department office people and explained my personal situation and a mechanic overheard and joined the conversation as well. They asked me questions and after, the mechanic assured me he knew the issue was the battery having a dead cell and that it would be covered under warranty. Two hours later (they have to run lots of diagnostics to satisfy warranty requirements) they came into the (very nice waiting room areas) and handed me my keys and a paper to sign. The battery did in fact have a dead cell and it was 100% under warranty so the only thing required of me was a signature. Thrilled with the service, the friendly and kind staff and the nice waiting facilities.

onGood!!! Just didn’t understand, why they would charge $70.00 dollars for just hooking up a tire balance machine on my son’s truck to check and see if, the truck was out of balance and it wasn’t? We bought the truck At that dealership. I could’ve understood if, they had to balance the truck tires, just wish they would treat their customers a little better, when they keep their business in eastern Kentucky and buy a truck off them for the first time.
