Overall, good experience with some potential for improvement.

The dealer was overall pleasant to work with, answered my questions as best they could, and took care of one minor issue promptly upon arrival (alignment). A couple of things could have been better, though: It took an unnecessarily long amount of time to get on my way even though I walked in with a check in hand from my local bank. I waited more than an hour (probably closer to two) for the paperwork or finance person to even begin. The process was smooth once it was started. Secondly, the car only had one key. If I had known ahead of time, I could have researched and learned what a pain it would be to get a second one, not to mention the expense ($800). Lesson learned. Third, the transit tag was attached by the dealership onto the vehicle with 2 screws and without a frame or any protection. Since it is cardboard - you guessed it - it didn't survive more than about an hour on the interstate. Luckily I had someone alert me that it was about to fall off and was able to pull over and find a parts store nearby and salvage it. These details detracted from an otherwise great experience.

Horrible Service and Sleazy Tactics

tldr-Salesman Scott Harkins was extremely rude and the dealership wouldn't honor a written offer. I used Truecar.com to research pricing on a new 2020 F-150 and was given several offers from different dealerships, one being Kieth Hawthorne. I requested info on the truck offered on Truecar as well as on the same vehicle on their website. This was Friday night at 8:32 pm. I hear back on Saturday morning and am told that the truck is there and we agree on a price. I go to the dealership, which is an hour away, to find that they "sold that truck 2 days ago" and their system said I was interested in a different truck. Scott Harkins was extremely rude and said, "Well our system said you wanted this truck. That truck sold 2 days ago and you wouldn't get it for that price." He said they could build the truck i wanted for an additional $11,000! I had the quote with the pricing shown and Scott said, "Well I don't know what to tell you. It wasn't my fault, the system said you wanted this truck." I left and called the sales manager, Ben, who was really nice and said, "we've had this problem before...give me until Monday to make it right." That was the last I heard of them until Tuesday when Scott sends me an email saying that they know it sometimes takes time to decide, but they are there to help...no mention of "making it right." I purchased the truck I want from Fairway Ford in Greenville, SC and the experience was great. I recommend checking them out instead.

I can't figure out how what I was told was a ten minute job took over an hour. I called ahead and made an appointment. I arrived 30 minutes before my appointment and it still took over and hour to get me back on the road. Then after I leave I get an email that said that I missed my appointment.

Great Service for a Nervous Mother of the Bride!

This past June I had traveled from Florida to North Carolina for my youngest daughter's wedding. Just after I arrived, I noticed an odd noise coming from the front end of my Ford Edge. Upon further investigation, we thought it might be a bad strut so we located the nearest Ford dealership which just happened to be Keith Hawthorne Ford in Belmont, NC. They were professional and courteous and worked my vehicle into their busy schedule. They answered my numerous phone calls with a great deal of patience! When we realized my car would not be ready until the day of the wedding, they offered to give me a rental to use over the weekend. Since there was no time to pick up the car on that day, they kept my car until the following Monday when I was able to pick it up. And the best part was my vehicle was still under warranty and there was no charge. They kept their calm while this nervous mama was losing it over this bump in the schedule. I would highly recommend Keith Hawthorne Ford to anyone who needs service done!

Great Customer Service

Keith Hawthorne has taken very good care of my car. They gave me a rental when I had a big problem with the Transmission and they had to wait on a part. The part was under warranty and I was so relieved that i had bought that warranty. The customer service I have received there has always been excellent.

Do Not Buy from this place

Wrote a check for $12,000 for a car on May 9th. Still to this day do not have it. There 72 hour return is a joke. We returned it the next day after we bought it. They had covered the smoke up inside. It STUNK. Told them we were not happy at all. Said they would fix it along with the paint that was chipped. Went back to get it still not fixed. Said it would be fixed this past Thursday. Went today the 23rd still not fixed. They still have my car I traded as well as the one I paid for. Told me to get a lawyer. The Keith Hawthorn way I guess. I will get one.

They lie to the consumer

We brought our car there about 2 years ago. We traded our prior ford lease in. My credit was excellent but at the last minute they made my husband co sign. I have owned businesses and many cars and have not had a "co signer" in 30 plus years. About 6-7 weeks later I had not gotten a payment notice so I contacted Ford directly who told me that Vin number was still on the lot. I said No the car was sold to me almost 2 months ago. They never did the paper work. Then they sent a bill for a carpet for the trunk they said was missing on inspection. It was not. We were charged the $22 for "over miles" on the car. They were a JOKE only thing missing is their clown suits. Never had I dealt such seedy dealership. As for "Mr." Hawthorne he is just some coward that never returned a call or email. Hides behind the "name" FYI - I peeled the Cheesy sticker off my car. Total nightmare.

Lied about financing

I wish I had a better way to describe the deal we negotiated, but I can only see it as a done in bad faith. We specifically told them a price per month and said "we do not want to finance for more than 60 months". General Manager said "ok". They shook our hands, took our signatures, ran my wife and my credit, took us in to the back office and told us the term would be 84 months. We realize it was a nicer car than we went shopping for, but we were told it could work (we just assumed they had purchased the car for cheap at an auction and could afford to lower the price). They wasted several hours of our day and then attempted to lecture us about the numbers and why what we wanted wasn't possible. At the end of the day, it wasn't about the numbers, but the fact that we were told it was possible, our credit was run, and we were lied to. Salesperson Matt was fine, but the general manager and some other guy I swear was introduced as "Mr. Hawthorn" somehow changedthe terms from 60 to 84 months and called it a "miscommunication". Would not recommend.

Apparently lazy

Lazy is all I know to say to describe the folks at this dealership. I drove 300 miles to trade at Keith Hawthorne and was pleased with my deal and the service received that day. However, a short time after my purchase I realized I did not receive a manual. To be fair, the truck I purchased was used (950 miles). I have since called at least a dozen times and have been promised a manual in the mail every time. This has been ongoing since November and I appear to be no closer to a manual today as I was when I realized I didn't have one. Amazing how a simple little thing can ruin all the good they had achieved the day of the sale. Very disappointed and wish I hadn't written the positive review I initially gave.
