Removed option while I was signing paperwork !!

by James on 01/13/2023

Went there and met Chris and told him I just need a written down number on a new Miata. He provided this and I thanked him, went to my car and looked at all the info I had and came back in . I had told him I don’t want to confuse the deal with trade-ins etc . So I had my price . I hadn’t countered or asked for extras. Deal done . He brings out another paper that looks just like mine except it’s $3,318.40 more . If I had trade -in etc. Could have slipped by me . Martha came out and explained that the price was for a different car . I said I was basing my buying here on the price I had on the paper in my hand . I asked for some time and came up with a number that was a compromise for both us . Chris took my offer back , it was accepted. Deal done . So now I just had to wait for them to prepare the car and go to the finance department . While I was waiting I asked for a booklet for the stargard vehicle location system which Chris had demonstrated and which the car clearly had installed and was stated was installed on the windshield. Chris told me that i would get that at the financing office and that they would have to take their name off that account and set me up on it . He did get me an owners manual which was nice . Chris let’s me know David in financing was ready . I meet David and I sign all the paperwork. I write a check. We’re done . Then as I’m walking away to go back to the other building i remember the stargard and ask David isn’t he supposed to go over that with me ? He says it doesn’t have It . I said yes it does and he said they took it off . He said if I wanted it I would have to pay for it . I couldn’t believe they would take something off the car as I was paying for it . I wasn’t ok with that and we proceeded to undo the deal . David made me a copy of the paperwork to void the deal . I did go and explain to Martha and she said the deal was already made . I just can’t believe that something was taken off the car during the purchase .

No pressure

by Funkindrum on 04/27/2017

Worked with Devin and the sales manager to buy a pre-owned car. The experience was fantastic as they accommodated my wishes. Devin was very helpful and not pushy. I was allowed to work out the details through phone calls and emails which saved me the hassle of sitting around the dealership for endless hours. I had a very specific budget I wanted to stay in and I wasn't pressured to go outside of my limits. I also very much appreciated the no haggle / lowest price advertisement. They tried to use a couple of sales tactics to finalize the deal - constantly trying to get me to come in - but, when I said I wasn't coming in until I was ready to sign - they accommodated. Over all it was a great experience. The only thing I would want differently - but didn't ask for it - is I would have liked to see all the paper work drafted and given a day to read it all in leisure instead of quickly going through it at their office.

Defective car, constant issues, two months.

by Sarah_T on 07/14/2016

I purchased an RX8 two months ago. The day I bought it, one of the service techs had the key fob in his pocket and broke it so I had to take my trade in home and come back after they'd ordered and programmed a new fob. Then they told me when I was there to pick it up that the ignition ring needed to be replaced so I had to bring it back in. While we were waiting for the ignition ring to be delivered the AC went out and they had to order a part and repair that as well. Yesterday, two months and three days into my ownership, the stereo shorted out and stopped working. It's aftermarket, but it was in the car when I purchased it, so I don't expect the dealership to fix it, but I do feel like they should have made sure it was working. Especially considering when they replaced the ignition ring they told me that it was shorting out because of how the stereo had been installed so I know they were in there and either messed it up themselves or should have taken the time to fix it so it was't screwing up other systems in the dash. They assured me when I purchased this that they'd gone over it and it was in excellent working condition. Two trips in to service and now I have to take it somewhere else for more work inside of two months is NOT excellent working condition. If I had it to do over I would not have purchased a car from this dealership. I'd advise you don't either. ***UPDATE*** I was reading through other reviews and saw that someone had posted about seeing a car on the website with stock wheels, then coming in to test drive and finding out that the rims and tires had been upgraded and the stock set was no longer available, and that this jumped the price considerably. This was part of my buying experience as well. The picture on the website showed stock wheels. The picture the salesman sent me that i have in my email right now shows stock wheels. When I got there the following day, "Oh, well, now it has upgraded rims and tires and we don't have the stock ones so the price isn't going to be $9000, it's $12000. Hope that's ok." I was pissed, but no amount of trying was able to get me the stock wheels. If I want aftermarket accessories I'd like the option to pick them myself, not finance them forever. Plus then I'd have the stock set for winter tires or whatever. Nope. Nowhere to be found. I had originally given this review two stars but since I saw that this was a common practice I've now dropped it to one.

Go literally ANYWHERE else.

by knepperb on 10/03/2014

What a horrific experience. Well, that's not completely accurate. My first sales guy was wonderful and very knowledgeable. Unfortunately, when I returned the following day to sign papers, he wasn't available. I was handed off to a 20 year old kid who could barely answer my questions, let alone handle a sale on his own. They had hand off tactics, sharky sales talks, and just bad practice in general. After given a ridiculous price on a car, I expressed that in no way was I going to pay sticker price. He asked for my counter, which was $3500 below MSRP. Not unreasonable in my opinion. He returns 25 minutes later saying he can't come close. I tell him thanks but no thanks, and walk for the door. No harm no foul at this point. Another kid who couldn't be older than 22 literally CHASES me to the door with the quote page. He starts in on how I'm insane for asking them to come down that low. To be fair, when I offered that price, I hadn't yet seen the invoice. Kid #2 tells me I'm stupid and ridiculous for even thinking they'd do that for me. He then insults me further by offering me less for my vehicle in an I'm-smarter-than-you-but-I'm-a-tiny-man-with-a-complex kind of attitude. This was the wrong way to talk to me.... it then resulted in me shouting at him for being unprofessional, rude, and downright insulting. [non-permissible content removed]. Is that really the way you treat someone who is trying to spend $25,000 in your store? Methinks not. Mind you, this shouting match happened in the showroom as they were trying to lock down at least 2 other sales. The low-road person in me really hopes they lost out on those deals as a result of his idiocy. I bought a Ford after that. ;o)

Peter and Bano Were AMAZING!

by dericklock on 06/29/2014

We went to nearly every dealership in the Vancouver Auto Mall and were not treated as well as we were here! Had a great experience here at Alan Webb Mazda. We worked with both Peter and Bano and they were by far the most knowledgeable and helpful car salesmen we've had the pleasure of working with. They were both highly invested in giving us the best service possible and we could tell. Negotiations were smooth and we were at no time pressured to purchase or treated poorly by any means. Left with the car I wanted for the deal I wanted and will recommend Alan Webb Mazda (especially Peter and Bano) in the future. I purchased on 5/31/14.

Cody is great..... Customer service after the sale SUCKS!

by randy141 on 04/23/2014

I leased a Mazda 3 here last month. I got a very good deal and was moderately happy with the process to get a deal. Webb is no different than any other dealership with "sales game". I am extremely unhappy with the customer service/support after the sale. It is 7 days until the first payment is due and I have yet to receive ANY payment information. After about 10 calls to the dealership asking about payment information I was sent to Mazda finance and was promptly asked for an account number that I have yet to receive. I called the dealership back and after 5 or 6 calls was connected to the sales department. They told me to go to a local branch of Chase Bank. In the end I found out that Chase was given the wrong address. Even though I went to great pains to provide my MAILING ADDRESS on many occasions. Apparently, address verification is only important to the dealership when they are trying to get paid. Follow up for their screw up is on the customer. I advise anyone considering purchasing from this location to look else where. On a brighter note I LOVE my Mazda 3!!

Call Alan Webb Mazda, Ask for Cody

by bcelmins on 03/16/2014

I had a great experience at Alan Webb Mazda, thanks largely to Cody and financial manager Jacob. Cody is a personable guy who I genuinely believe is looking to get the best deal for his customers. I called to get a price on a 2014 Mazda3 i Grand Touring, spoke with Cody, and within 10 minutes he called back with a quote that I was quite happy with. I circulated the quote with Herzog Meier (who didn't even make a cursory effort at competing with the quote I was sent), and I probably could have taken the quote back to Gladstone and worked the back-and-forth, but frankly, the quote was a REALLY good price. Now, the horror stories you hear usually involve people getting one price over the phone and getting slipped hidden fees. That didn't happen here. Cody was very up front with the fees before I even drove to the lot. $150 doc fee-- which frankly is not surprising-- and of course the $379 titling fee for a four-year registration in Multnomah County. The whole process from when I stepped on the lot to when I drove off was two hours, and 30 minutes of that was my scrutinizing the loan documents. I was a potential cash buyer. I told this to Cody, and he said, "The best price is going to be through financing." This is typical (the dealership gets more incentives if they finance it because Mazda makes money off the loans, which is kind of obvious). Alan Webb and Mazda Capital Services have no origination fees and no pre-payment penalty, so it didn't matter if I took out a loan since I can pay it off next month (though, I qualified for their 0.9% financing, so there's almost no point in paying it off). The price he quoted me over the phone was the exact price that was reflected on the loan documents. Jacob was very professional, didn't make any attempts to sell any extras. He was very patient when I asked to examine the loan document. Now, I did a lot of internet research and knew what to expect. I think people who have bad experiences at dealerships are just unprepared, frankly. Or they look at the experience as an adversarial one, and they feel that "getting over" on the dealer is somehow a win. If you go into a dealership asking for the lowest monthly payment, then frankly, you're a sucker. If you go in and tell them what your exact expectations are, then this team absolutely honors their word. I'm here to tell you: the price was totally fair. Cody was completely straight with me. Jacob was totally professional. The deal was above board, and nobody tried to sneak one past me. Call Alan Webb. Ask for Cody. Get a great price. That's all there is to it. Seriously.

Perfectly Happy

by rsteph4 on 11/11/2013

I have purchase several new cars since 1996. I have to say this was the best overall buying experience I've ever had. I got actually a little more for my trades (2 cars) than I expected (I try to be realistic with both dealer and my own expectations) and they pretty much gave me exactly what KBB and Edmunds said my cars were worth. And I got what I considered a fair price on the new Mazda6. I worked with two sales guys, Cody and Sean, both youngsters. They were very nice guys, no pressure, personable. Most other car salesmen I've met over the years were, shall we say, not people I enjoyed meeting. Cody and Sean were the opposite. Really nice kids (sorry guys...it's an age thing.) It was actually a pleasure dealing with them. Even with a 30+ year age difference. Maybe I'm just a pushover, but there was actually no haggling or arguing at all. They met my trade expectation on the first try, I was good with the selling price of the new car. It was just that easy. Could I have gotten another $1 or $2k out of the whole thing? Maybe. But I'm not crying about it. I was good as is. Took longer waiting for the final paperwork (and we were the only ones in there buying a car...slow Sunday.) The day before, Saturday, the place was a zoo. So, traded in two cars, got the prices I was happy with (trade and purchase), paid cash for the remainder, out the door with new car in about 3.5 hours total. Win for me and for them.

High Pressure

by mazdabuyer4 on 07/03/2013

We purchased a car at Alan Webb last month. Not because we wanted to, but because they were the only ones within 200 miles that had the exact car we wanted. Very high pressure and did not like when we walked out. In the next 24 hours we received 4 calls from them and finally called them back and made a deal. If any other place would have had a similar car we would have bought from them, even if it cost a little more.

Lowest Internet price

by Aer2 on 06/25/2013

Haggled over the internet with all three Mazda dealers in my area. Alan Webb "outbid" the others. I got the exact car I wanted at the best price. They lost points because of their sales manager's hard sell with the add-ons. Pretty abrupt when I wouldn't buy. Wouldn't give me the time of day once he figured out he couldn't sell me anything else. Still, I would recommend them because I got a good price, which was #1.

Worst dealer in WA

by sobdealer on 10/01/2008

We recently went here trying to buy a dodge truck. After doing our research we decided on the price we were going to pay and not a penny more. We came to look at the truck prior to comming in a 2nd time to sign the paperwork. The sales man we were dealing with originally was with a different customer, but we got a man named Alan. We basically [violative content deleted] us throught the whole sales negotiation and gave me almost nothing for my 07 SUV. We were going back and forth for over 2 hourse before walking out. The original salesman later came out trying to persuade us, but it was too late. our main reason for not buying the truck from them was Alans behaviour and rudeness to myself and my husband. After leaving Alan was waiting by our car to chew us out about how we went back on our word and called us "[violative content deleted] liars" to OUR FACES. Basically they stay nice to you while you are playing on their terms. try to get what you want, and you get cussed out outside by some [violative content deleted] that didnt have the [violative content deleted] to tell you in front of the manager.

Do you like to haggle

by cadvocate89 on 03/20/2008

An old school dealer. If you love haggling with your sales rep and the general manager for hours then this is your dealer. The sales experience goes something like this. You drop by the dealer to start looking at vehicles and immediately approached by a sales person. After a few test drives you go into a sparce white room, while the sales person chats you up and fills in the various information like how much you owe on your trade. The piece of paper goes up to the general managers office and back with the first offer. First offer is typically a total low ball trade value and overpriced offer for the new vehicle, almost insulting. Be sure you have done your research before going to this dealer, because they are looking for people who have know idea what their car and the new vehicle are worth. After countless times back and forth to come to a reasonable offer, the GM finally comes down sweet talking you for a bit then starts applying the pressure. If you finally have come to a general agreement you sit in the little white room with the sales person for about 20 minutes while your paper work is prepped by the office . Then you have another half an hour going over the paper work to purchase the car. If you have all day to waste at a dealer and love the back and forth to reach a reasonable deal then this is your place. I personally have better things to do.

Don't buy a car from Vancouver Mazda

by jimf421 on 01/28/2008

I had the worst experience a customer could ever have at a Car Dealership. This occurred yesterday, January 27th, 2008. I was going to buy a new 2007 Mazda5. I signed all the paperwork and was given the keys. Just as I was just getting ready to drive this vehicle off of the car lot when my brother noticed the fog light on the right front of the car was hanging loose and the right front panel of the car was pulled out;also, under the right side of the bumper it was chewed up substantially. After telling the car salesmen about this, the car salesmen went and got his manager. The manager then told me that the car had been damaged in a tornado and that was the reason I was getting it for such a good price ($14987). We then asked why the car salesmen didn't tell us about that. He said it was part of there blow out sale on all cars that were damaged by the tornado (that still didn't answer the question as to why the car salesmen didn't tell us about the damage). The manager then proceeded to say I didn't have to buy the car. At this point I was really irritated and just wanted to make sure that the process of voiding our sales contract would be finalized and I could leave their car lot. Well, the manager went upstairs with my paperwork, and after about 10 minutes came back down saying my contract was "voided", I had gotten what I wanted and stormed off. I then asked if he could sign next to all spots in the contract that said "void" to make it more official (void was written in felt pin on my copy of the sales contract, but how was I to prove that the dealership indeed wrote this on my contract, and for the matter how did I know that the business manager's copy of the contract also said "void" . . by the way he wouldn't let me talk to the business manager). At this point the car lot manager said he wasn't signing nothing and walked off. I followed him and asked to speak to his boss. He wouldn't allow me to speak to his boss. I kept on him about this until he finally grabbed my paperwork and said he would go upstairs and get his boss to sign next to the "void". I then said I would like to go up with him and witness his boss signing next to void. He then yelled, "If I wanted you upstairs, I would've brought you upstairs", and wouldn't let me come upstairs... In the end I have a sales contract that says "void" written in felt pin and have no idea if their copy of the contract says "void" on it. Now then, getting back to the car salesmen who tried to sell me the car...it was only because my brother was suspicious as to why the car salesmen didn't do a "walk around" and tried to hurry us off of the car lot that my brother began inspecting the car more closely. As a result, this was how we found the damage to the car....seriously, nobody should ever buy a car from Allen Webb Mazda. Today, I will be contacting the Mazda Corporation, the better business bureau, and Allen Webb Mazda to file a formal complaint. I hope this review will help others not get "ripped off"...thanks.
