Dealer using family's personal information for marketing

by Al on 02/05/2024

I bought a Toyota in Colorado. Mountain View Nissan has stolen my family's contact information from the information I used to buy that car and is now harassing my parents with desperate and childish sales campaigns. The mentioned Steve Brady refused to answer my calls. The sales manager who answered tried to convince me that he was so desperate for sales that it's OK. And if I didn't like it I needed to stop the marketing company they hired myself. He then became emotional and hung up after cursing and trying to insult me

Never ever buy from Mountain View.

by Don C on 05/12/2020

What a scam. To be honest it is partly my fault for not reading the paperwork closely. I went in looking at a certain model and was told I needed to step down in vehicle to get to my payment range. Then they sell it to me for more than MSRP because of $4500 down and a $2000 rebate. They took the window sticker out of the truck and salesman telling me they had to sell it behind invoice to get to my payment while we wait on finance.I will tell everyone I know to never do business with any Mountain View dealership. I am embarrassed that I have to go to back to the dealership to cancel my warranty and maintenance plan. Even after I cancel the service plans and after $4500 down and $2000 rebate I still owe more than the internet price. I understand making money but straight up ripping people off is despicable. Looking for the best deal/value

by Marilyn Reppond on 09/22/2019

My game plan was to find the newest car, lowest miles, best warranty but! Within ‘my’ budget. Bruce Durham of Mtn View helped my do so. He had suggestions but he also listened and focused on my request.

Sent my information out to 10 lenders without my consent

by Vfb7845 on 11/01/2017

Mountain View Nissan has the most inconsiderate sales team I’ve ever been exposed to. I currently do not live in Chattanooga, but my fiancé does and I wanted him to accompany me when I test drove a car. I set up my appointment at Mountain View Nissan to test drive a Versa a week in advance. This appointment was with the Sales and Leasing Advisor, Bruce Durham. On 9/23/17, I drove an hour and a half to Chattanooga for the appointment. When my fiancé and I arrived at the dealership, we were “greeted” by Bruce Durham. Bruce was extremely rude in person. His actual greeting was to snort (yes, literally) and say “you are the one who works for...?” We had discussed my profession a week prior, but his attitude and tone implied he believed I had lied about my job (as if anyone would do that). I felt strongly that his reaction to me was because I was a female under the age of 30. As my fiancé put it, Bruce’s comment displayed sexist stereotyping. Bruce clearly believed I was not worth his time. He handed me off to a different sales agent, despite the fact I had an appointment to work with him.The sales agent was Derek Honeycutt. To be honest, Derek seemed so completely clueless that initially my fiancé and I believed that he was in training. I know now that he was just being manipulative. I told him we were there for a test drive. He asked me for my address, and SSN (which I regret giving him) while filling out a form on the computer, then got the keys for the Versa. When I got into the car for the test drive it occurred to me that he had still not asked to see my driver’s license. I mentioned this to him and he shrugged saying, “it doesn’t matter.” I handed him my DL anyway. After the test drive, Derek asked me what he could do to sell me the car that day. I told Derek that he could give me an estimate of pricing for the car with a warranty. I told him that if the estimate worked for me, that maybe I would consider discussing financing options. I repeated that I could not buy the vehicle on that day. While my fiancé and I waited Derek to provide me the estimate, Bruce Durham the sales manager walked up to us and said (quote) “congratulations...I just filled up your new car with gas.” I guess once Bruce had heard I was requesting price quotes, he decided I was valuable enough to merit a moment of his time. I told Derek Honeycutt I was leaving. I explained I didn’t like the lack of transparency in his sales tactics, and that his manager had made me feel uncomfortable and pressured. Derek offered me his idea of an apology. “I don’t know what Bruce said to you, but we don’t want to make anyone feel pressured...” I had stated only seconds before (for the second time) what his manager had said to me, so Derek did know. I do not appreciate talking to someone clearly not listening to a word I say, nor do I appreciate the implication that I would make up a complaint. Following his “apology,” he attempted to defend Bruce’s comment instead of accepting that it made me uncomfortable. He said “I thought you were buying the car today too.” I had said about 50 times that I wasn’t going to be buying the car on that day. Derek excused the fact my fiancé and I sat for over an hour waiting for the estimate on the dealership being “very busy.” I requested he email me the estimate by the upcoming Monday. He assured me that he would do so. That Monday, he did not email me an estimate. He did attempt to call me. I didn’t answer his call because I was working. I emailed him instead, to again ask for the estimate. He responded (through a text) that I had been approved for financing by Nissan Motor Acceptance Corporation. I found his use of text to respond to an email unprofessional. Also his text didn’t state financing terms, or the final price of the car with a warranty (the information I had repeatedly asked for). I decided I wouldn’t purchase a car from him. Upon checking my credit score on 10/18/17, I discovered that it had dropped over 30 points on all three credit reporting agencies. Evidently not only did Derek fail to listen to my requests, but he and his “manager” Bruce Durham sent my information to 10 lenders without my consent. Hard inquires account for 10% of your credit score I am in the market to buy a car now, I don’t have a “few months” for my credit to rebound from unauthorized credit inquiries. I never was told the loan amount Mountain View Nissan was trying to approve me for. I was never told how many lenders, or which lenders they sent my information to. I wasn’t shown any paperwork for any of the financing that I was approved (or not approved) for. I haven’t received even relieved one letter in the mail from any of the lenders that are now showing up on my credit report. If I hadn’t checked my credit report I never would’ve known. I’m aware that dealerships “shotgun” your information to lenders for a competitive rate when you are ready to purchase a car. You approve they do this, and they provide you with information on the lenders they are submitting your information to. “Shotgunning” doesn’t usually entail sending a customer’s information to 10 or more lenders. That is an excessive amount. I now understand why Derek asked for my SSN in the beginning of my visit. I have spent the last two weeks calling lenders to inform them that their credit inquiries were unauthorized. I have opened multiple claims to attempt to remove these inquiries from my credit reports. My two hours in that dealership has already cost me an additional 96 hours of my time. I reported this to Nissan Consumer Affairs on 10/18/17 but they have yet to resolve the issue. The agent I am assigned keeps “closing” my case. I have reported this to the BBB.

excellent nonpressure sales representation

by orthodoc49 on 07/07/2013

I had damaged credit and shopped many places. Couldn't get fired through a cannon at any other dealership. Wanted a warrantied vehicle for my 88 y.o. mother whose car was 17 years old. Bruce had me bought in one phone call and the experience was almost religious.
