Best Sales Experience I've Ever Had

by CLM1106 on 03/20/2017

My daughter and I had made an agreement that I'd match whatever it was she had saved up in order to purchase her car. When I went into Toyota, I was introduced to Matt Wolfe, who was our salesman. Through out the whole process Matt was very considerate of both mine and my daughters wishes. He explained what was realistically suitable for us all while putting in the extra work to make sure that he could get us what we had desired. We ended up leasing a car that very same day. If you're looking for someone who is dedicated to delivering nothing but the best, and want to actually enjoy your car shopping experience, I highly highly reccomend stopping in to Toyota of Turnersville and asking for Matt Wolfe.

good experience

by hal_jedoux on 07/27/2012

My wife and I were not looking forward to the car buying experience. However we had a decent transaction with Turnersville Toyota and would recommend. The salesman Ed Bakis was very helpful, friendly and a true gentleman. He even let my wife take the vehicle to our house (apprx 1.5 mi away) during the test drive to see if our large stroller would fit in the vehicle! Right off the bat we told Ed we are negotiating the price of the vehicle not monthly payments so pls don't play games or we split. We purchased a 2007 Highlander 56K mi. that they wanted 17995 for. they refused our first offer of 16.5 and we settle to 16,9 - 18450 total price with tax, etc. Probably could have got a few hundred less if we had walked but we felt the price arrived at was fair for the certified used toyota, based on 'edmunds' appraisal TMV. The sales manager 'Diamond' Dave Herbst was also very professional, friendly and polite. we had a little bit of an issue with their 250 'documentation fee': I said you can keep the documentation but he would not waver on this charge. Again I believe we might have got another 3 or 400 off if we had threatned to walk but we wanted the car and I think the price was fair. They (eventually) got the financing info from BOA and also call GEICO to have the vehicle added to our policy. The only negatives were a) they knew we had already secured financing from the bank, but they laid a "toyota credit appilcation" on me and asked me to fill it out and sign. I'm not borrowing $ from you, so I will not sign this, says I. "oh no this is just to get your personal information" they says. I says I will not sign that and he took it away. b) Diamond Dave says well if you have financing from BOA you will have to go there and get a check and bring back, that's the only way we will deal. "This sheet from BOA says you are one of their preferred dealers and all you have to do is call them like it says here" says I. "No you must get check" says D. Dave. 15 Min later old Ed comes by and says they are doing you favor and calling BOA to set up the financing so you don't have to go over there. G thanks. c) tried to sell me 'gap' insurance, which is not really a negative as maybe some people would want it. d) although I'm pretty sure I saw floor mats in the back of the vehicle when we first look, there are no [non-permissible content removed] floor mats in the vehicle. I don't know why my old lady did not notice this until we got home, but there you have it. So those factors are what costs T. Toyota the 5th star, but like I say I would recommend to anybody and will buy again. You just have to be reasonably firm and read what you're signing and you will do ok here. Nice vehicles and lots of them. Thanks again Eddie and Diamond Dave!!

Do Not Buy From Here

by mark205 on 07/16/2009

My husband and I just left the Turnersville Auto Mall after a very frustarting ordeal. We were told that we were not allowed to test drive a car because they did not want to put the miles on it. Who would buy a car without test driving it? They informed us that this is a policy from Toyota to not allow potential buyers to test drive cars. I am shocked that in this economy this dealer makes enough money to turn away a potential buyer. I am in the process of writing an e-mail to Toyota and I encourage you to do the same if you come across a low level of professionalism such as this. I could go on more about more about how unhelpful they were, but I won't.

Do Your Homework First!

by toylovr55 on 06/28/2008

Make sure you do your research before talking to this dealer! We recently tried to take advantage of their "No hassle, no haggle" Internet pricing for a new Camry. I obtained the quote and visited the dealer, but my wife fell in love with a Corolla instead. Corollas were selling for $500 over dealer invoice. The salesman brought me a paper showing the offer price that was within $50 of the Camry! I had already researched these invoice prices too and knew he was quoting me a figure about $1600 too high. SInce I already knew all the pieces of the number (invoice, tax, coupon discount, and down payment) I could calculate the payment based on the terms given by the dealer. The salesman's number was $430 /month, about $50/month too high, and he was showing me down payments $2000 higher! When I explained the calculation to him, he siad he didn't understand all that and didn't know what was in his number! We left. The next day I obtained through this website a dealer quote from them on the same vehicle and guess what: We now had the same starting cost. Should be easy now, right? I took my quote to the showroom and met with the Sales Mgr who told me he revisited his salesman's number and the figure "should be $398". So, what was that other salesman up to? I pointed out that earlier in the day, I had visited their website, used their finance calculator, and proved my number of $380. By the way, I'm a 30-year CPA and have done these calculations a thousand times. The bottom line is they were including about $1000 of undislosed stuff in their number. I asked the Sales Mgr to show me his calculation so we could find the difference, or to go on the web to his site. Of course, he wouldn't do either. Even after I pointed out to him that I have seen this situation described here by other customers, he was unfazed. Be very wary of these people. Make sure you have all the facts and have calculated you rpayment ahead of time. If someone can't prove to you how they got their number, RUN AWAY!

Will never by a Toyota again b/c of this dealership

by 4r002 on 01/13/2008

My 2002 4Runner with approx 76,000 was coming of lease. Love the car, never have had a problem with it. Went to dealership to buy out lease. Should be a simple process as I know the purchase option price ($13,682) as stated in original lease agreement. With tax tags and other misc fees, total cost $15,498. Wrong. First, I have a great FICO score and know my credit score. I uses Toyota financial services in the original lease and though I would just use them again. I never missed a payment and though I would be treated with some respect. I was expecting a finance rate b/w 7-8 %, the approx going rate for a used car. The first customer representative came back to me quoting a finance rate of 11.6%. Here's the catch, if I had the vehicle 'certified by toyota' at a cost of $3,000, the finance rate would be 7.9%. He proceeded to explain that Toyota gives lower rates on their cars that are certified b/c they inspect the care completely and change/repair anything that needs it. Here's the best part. (I'm not trying to be funny). He quoted me a monthly payment of $465/month x 48 months at the 11.6% rate. But at the 7.9% rate (with the additional $3,000 certification) the monthly payment would be $458/month x 48 months. He then stated "I would basically be getting the certification for free because of the finance rate difference. Not being born yesterday and having two graduate degrees, I at least know that nothing in the world is free. Something wasn't right. So. I said no to the 7.9% and the certification and figured they were going to get me to pay more somehow so I will let them rip-me off at the 11.6% rate. I guess I caught customer rep off guard by saying no to the 7.9% rate. He went to the financial people and they sent another customer rep over who proceeded to tell me that "he didn't want me to make a mistake" and "99% of his customers would take the lower monthly rate b/c the car would now be certified" My wife happened to be home, so I called her from my cell phone and asked her to run those numbers in a online auto loan calculator. Results: $15,498 at 11.6% x 48 months = $405/month; $18,498 at 7.9% x 48 months = $458/month. The finance people lied about the actual monthly payments for the 11.6% rate. They quoted me a cost of $465/month when in reality it was $405/month. As you can see, that would be less than the $458/month rate at 7.9%. I wasn't getting anything for free as I suspected. This is basically fraud. I guess by saying yes to the 11.6%, they knew that the discrepancy would surface. To make a long story short, if you must use this dealership, know what your finance rate should be and run the numbers on a loan calculator to get an approx idea of what payments should be. Also, it would be a good idea to take a computer or iphone with you to verify any costs or call someone at home to verify numbers. I did report this to Toyota's consumer complaints division but as expected, I have never heard anything back from Toyota. Toyota b/c of this dealership has lost my business.
