A Great Place to Buy A Car

My elderly parents were looking for a New Highlander, but Covid made all of us uneasy about buying the car now. Route 22 Toyota’s staff made us feel safe from the moment we arrived. Everyone had their masks, and people kept reasonable distances. My parents were able to take their truck home that day, and so thankful for a pleasurable experience.

Dealer Lies

I was looking for a new truck and found this one on Edmunds listed at $48,643. The truck was a 2020 Tacoma and I went to the dealer at the end of November (during the normal year end sales events). I inquired numerous times over the phone about the price of the truck to make sure I wasn't making the trip only to bait and switched, and was repeatedly told they couldn't tell me... bad sign but I went anyway. Get to the dealer and I'm told the particular truck I want has a 10k-15k dealer markup!!!!! Tried as best I could to talk them down, was willing to put down a good amount of money, had a trade in, and excellent credit, they wouldn't budge. Their sales manager Omar Awawdeh comes out and continues to try and work a deal. I came in knowing this truck had been on their lot for over 74 days and would need to be cleared out for the new 2021s coming in. Omar wouldn't budge on the markup continuing to try and convince me I cant find a better deal... I'm buying a new 2021 elsewhere for cheaper than their BS markup. Do not trust these guys.

Dealer lies

Drove over 2 hours to see a truck that I verified was available 3 times on the phone before leaving. When I got there I waited 20 minutes for the sales manager to come tell me that the truck had sold. I even asked them to call me if someone bought the truck while I was on my way.

Bait and switch technique

Bait and switch technique Friend of mine introduced me to a mobile app for leasing cars. (I am not reviewing an APP so I will not mention name) People from the app told me that vehicle is ready, dealer agreed to price, all paper work is done and that dealer will be waiting for us at 5:00 PM. All we need to do is get to Route 22 Toyota, sign and drive away in brand new 2019 Highlander. I was even offered one-way free LYFT ride, complimentary of dealership. We drove in our vehicle (also Highlander), our lease was coming to the end and we would like Return our vehicle to Route 22 Toyota dealership. Up until this point everything was great, We were told to ask for Benard Sporl, when we arrived to Route 22 Toyota and met with Benard, First thing He told us was that the Price has changed and it is $500 more, we were not qualified for Toyota Loyalty program discount (even we were leasing from Toyota financial witch automatically qualified us) I told Benard that this was not part of deal, and we were not aware of this. At this point we knew this dealer will not honor deal they are agreed to. So, Bernard left and came back with sales manager Omar Awawdeh, Omar said that THEY MADE MISTAKE calculating taxes they used NJ 6.97% instead of NY 8.875% and it is ONLY $600 more. (I estimated it is only 1.9 % difference and could not be more then $400). We asked if they will HONOR DEAL THEY ARE AGREED TO, Omar said nothing they could do and if we want the car it would be $600 more down. We were so disappointed on such dishonesty, first they wanted $500 then it went up to $600 REALLY!!!!! WOW!! I know it is not a lot of money, it is matter of principal Route 22 Toyota did not have to agree to deal that they offered on APP and offering LYFT ride to make sure to seal the deal, very sneaky move. So, we got up and left without saying anything else.

No respect.

Honestly, our sales guy was great, but when he couldn't find the right color of the interior of a 2017 Rav4, the finance manager came out to talk to us. He came out too cocky, threw out numbers, and I felt like he didn't let us talk. He kept saying "so do we have a deal?". We ended up going to Autoland Toyota where both the salesperson and finance manager was approachable. They gave us time to make a decision and we purchase a car from them. Even though it was similar to the same price that Route 22 Toyota gave us, I wouldn't want to work with that type of dealership. All they made me do is feel rushed.

Worst after sale service possible!!!!

My experience here thought me a lesson! fist check the after sale service and then buy the car... no one in this Route 22 seems to bother about your car service once you paid for the car itself. 2 Years on my car oil still not changed even though was on warranty! and no one answering to book an appt. for it. 1. Tried online it says data not available for the car!! 2.Tried on phone was kept on hold for half and hr and it was cut!!!! 3. Tried online chat and the person chatting took all my info and spent 30 min. doing that and said someone will call me right away that was yesterday, still no calls. very Bad!

Horrible Experience

Horrible Horrible experience. They tried to do the "bait and switch" I called the dealership and asked if they had a certain NEW car in Grey with xyz options. They told me definitely, they have it and gave me the price. I told them I would be there later today, and I would take it for a test drive and buy it right then and there. I go to the dealership, and their is a GREEN car with none of the options I wanted. They said it was a "miscommunication" but they have the car I want for $4500 more. There was no miscommunication, I have it all in writing... Needless to say, I walked out of there without even sitting down. I wish more people would just walk out without sitting down, then the dealerships would maybe stop doing the bait and switch. Needless to say, they are dishonest, and I am not doing business with dishonest people.

horrible experience. Did not honor the price they confirmed on the phone. Changed the price on my AFTER making me do the credit application and all. DO not trust or buy from them

New Corolla Lease

I had a very nice experience here, everyone was pleasant and helpful. It can be a stressful thing to do and most times I've had to purchase or lease a vehicle I've experienced frustration over the tactics many dealerships use. But William Cruz was extremely helpful and courteous, and made the time we spent a more relaxed experience than we've ever had before. And Nelson in finance was also very nice and helpful as well.

Buying a car is a very stressful time. Wondering am i getting the right price or the right deal...But at RT 22 Toyota I did not have that problem... From the moment I walked in I was treated like a person and not a commission. Naji my salesmen was excellent, I don't have enough word to express how happy I was working with him. My F&I manager Juan Carlos, again excellent....Rt 22 Toyota has a great team. thank you for finding me my car and also thank you for all that you do....

Stay Away

I would stay far away from this dealership. While my salesman, Thomas, was hardworking and sincere, albeit inexperienced, his manager was downright abusive. I knew exactly what car I wanted and negotiated the deal over the phone for an “out the door price”. I didn’t want any surprises. When I went to pick up the car (my first time at the dealership), I was advised that the price was slightly higher than agreed to in writing. After first telling me it must be my mistake I showed them the proof in writing. Then they attributed it to a miscalculation. While the amount was quite small, I objected and the manager, Alex Cancela starting screaming "do you want to walk away" "walk away, I want you to walk away”. Thomas had to calm him down. When I asked him to stop being belligerent, he just continued telling me to walk away. In addition to Thomas, I did have some dealings with Ainsley, who was quite helpful and responsive. So obviously there are some good people there. However, as long as Alex Cancel is the manager he will set the tone for this dealership Possibly I got a great price, which Alex regretted, but in any case, there was no reason for him to become abusive. I did leave with my new car, but would never use this dealership again.

First time buyer great experience

Today I walked into your dealer ship and was greeted by your staff feeling very welcomed I want to thank everyone for the great experience. Hans my sales rep was patient and a wonderful person to meet and do business with. I've been to other dealer ships where I felt being forced to get something just to get sales but I was truly impressed with his experience and knowledge and will recommend my friend and family to do business with him. Also want to acknowledge Nelson at fianiance for taking the time to explain everything to me step by step so I understood my benefits with leasing my new car. Thank you again and hoping to do more business with you all in the future!

Worst mistake ever DO NOT GO HERE

I bought a "certified" Toyota corrolla 2011 with 4k miles on it from this dealership and I wish everyday that I would have gone somewhere else. The sales staff were like a pack of rabid dogs very unprofessional and somewhat rude. The vehicle was suppose to come out to 13500 as a final prize. When we were signing the documents the manager was blowing thru the paperwork rushing me thru everything because he supposedly had an emergency. Being one of our first purchase we did not read thoroughly all the document. When we got home and I started reviewing the paperwork I noticed that the manager had add over 7000$ worth of extras to the car IE gap insurance low jack maintenance plans and so on with out notifying me. Altogether I ended paying 22000 dollars for a car that was only worth 14000. Above all the car must have had serious mechanical issues because at 20k we started to hear raddling noises like if something was loose in the steering column and along the muffler system. After the repairs we ended spending almost another 5000 dollars that weren't covered under the "warranty. DO NOT GO HERE !!!
