Phenomenal Experience

by Bill Tarter on 03/12/2023

Bought a certified vehicle yesterday. Mike Rossman my sales guy was so experienced and straight up. No stress during my purchase. Kerry in finance secured an excellent rate and had a paperwork completed in 15 minutes and was available right away. Laurence the product specialist made sure I left knowing every feature available. Perfect purchase experience.

the worst dealership, don't go

by johjo on 09/02/2013

We spent 3 hr there but they have only one 6 left. the manager asked me to offer price so I offered $27000. He stood up and saying nothing to me and just walked away. He told the other guy in the booth that I am crazy. I had to walk after him and asked him why is he so upset? It is he asked me to offer a price so I did, if he didn't like my offer, he could counter-offer, there is no need to have a bad attitude. Veru un professional. The other guy happened to be the general manager, he apologize but it is too late. This stupid manager ruined the deal. I bought a Honda EX-L V6 with for the price I offered them. Too bad. These people can't do business.

Worse dealer I have ever seen.

by nothankyou1 on 07/07/2013

We walk into a dealership to view the cars, they have 1 car on the showroom floor. The lot has no more than a few cars. We asked for 3 different models, none were available to show and we had to look around a tiny overcrowded lot to see if they had a new car, and when we found one we found out later it was sold. We had to stand outside in 100 degree weather for 20 min to search the parking lot for a car to buy that did not exist, and on top of that no place to test drive the imaginary car. Do not waste your time.

Dont bother going there!

by Jimshev on 06/17/2013

I am looking to buy a Mazda 3. I e-mailed 4 dealers as I always do to get a few prices to narrow it down so I don't have to drive all over and deal with the haggling...the Internet manager refused to send me a price quote! He said " I am not doing the work for other dealers so get the best price you can and bring it in and we'll see what we can do. SO I wrote back that I was sorry to bother him , and taking up his time so ple,ase don't bother me either...well the salesman called me twice nut I didn't,t answer the phone...after going to three dealers I actually NOW want to buy a Mazda 3 and a Mazda 6 and trade my cx7.they supposedly had the Mazda 6 I wanted in their inventory so lo and n Behold my wife and I decided to stop in their and give it a try! Well they didn't have any Mazda 6 new on their lot OR new Mazda 3 sedans??? None! So a tall young salesman comes out and we are telling him we want to discuss the price of a Mazda 3 but there are none on the lot! He didn't really give an answer other than...we have a lot of used cars!... HUH? So he says we have one inside..so we go in but it was a base model hatch? We asked for a price on a sedan...with Bluetooth and sky active engine..can you give us a price? He just looked at us and said "yes" then just stood there ...then we asked again...and he started talking about options and was actually wrong on a few of them which I had to correct him!...we told him we want the package with sky active and Bluetooth...can we have a price on that (in the mean time we are just standing in the middle of the showroom!). SO. He says yea I'll give you a price but if you want the best price I'm gonna need a commitment!! He was very force ful! We were flabbergasted! I said bro you didn't even give us a price and now you are asking for a commitment? How can we commit to anything if we don't even know what the initial price is?.... He just stood there! Like a deer in the headlights!! No nothing came from his mouth! Me and my wife just looked at each other and said...let's get out of here I knew this was a ,mistake....the guy just stated to walk away and said......take it easy...bye! [non-permissible content removed] missed a good deal as we are currently going to buy 2 new cars and possibly a used for my daughter!! Don't bother going there it's a waste of time and they never have cars there. And they are rude and will call you and bother you even after you tell them to stop! I also tried to buy a car from them 2 yrs ago ...same song and dance no cars we will take a ride and bring one ,,,,wait 25min for a guy to drive one over from somewhere...they negotiate with different options..finance, lease, cash, down payment ..etc and when your head starts spinning they want you to sign and "trust them" lololo they are a joke and I am reporting them to the headquarters! This is the god's honest truth!

nice and easy

by johnny118 on 09/17/2012

I recently got my new mazda from Open Road Mazda and I have to say I'm really happy about it. My salesman made it nice and easy. It started with a quote I got from Jack. I came in, got what I wanted, and now I'm a happy new owner of M3. Just like my sales guy Voytek said nice and easy !

Like No other

by billievein22 on 09/14/2012

I have bought several cars in my lifetime and this was by far the easiest experience. I dealt with a great gentleman by the name of Brian T. He was so pleasant and answered all of my questions. He was pressure free. My plan was to go in that day and buy the car. But I didn't want the salesman to know that. I told him that i wouldn't be buying for a couple of months and he said no problem. We took a test drive and he even knew the competitors cars. He was very upfront with his pricing and there was no back and forth. If you plan on looking at a Mazda it is definitely worth stopping and buying from them. You will see!

Wonderful experience !

by johnnyro on 09/05/2012

From the moment I walked in I was treated like a person, not just another sale. The salesman was courteous and knowledgeable and it there was no pressure in negotiating a price. I felt very relaxed even when the manager came over to finalize the deal. All the paperwork was done quick and drove home happy with my new SUV the same day.

Pressure Free Decision!!

by cowboypride on 09/04/2012

This had to be the best car buying experience I had the pleasure of having. My salesman Brian Brown was one of the most respectful, and inteligent young men I have come across in my recent search for a new car. I felt no pressure when my wife and I needed some extra time to make our decision. We appreciated his patience and restraint to "try to sell" us a car. He took his time during his presentation of the new CX-5. He understood exactly what we were looking for in a car and made us comfortable with our decision. 5-Star Service!!

I bought my Mazda 5 from OpenRoad Mazda because the car I want was in stock and they were up front about everything. I like that because it made my experience fast and easy. The customer service was very nice. I would recommend my family and friends to this dealership. I'm very happy with car to, my Mazda 5 Grand Touring is very nice it has a lot of equipment in it and the ride is great. This car is Mazda best kept secret. It fit my family needs. Thank You! Honest place

by yamsiams on 08/11/2012

My recent purchase at open road Mazda was pleasent to say the least. I will keep this review short and sweet, they were honest, kind, trust worthy, and I couldn't ask for a better atmosphere. They were real people helping me buy my car, not sales people. That was comforting. When I saw at edmunds the bad reviews I had to hop on and write a review to tell the truth. My brother is looking for a bigger suv and I'm sending him right to openroad Mazda in east brunswick

Great selection but worked hard for the car

by lennye on 08/05/2012

I had dealings with The Open Road family (new and used BMW dealerships close by) in the past 10 years so I know what to expect; it does lots of business by volume, so price and selection were what I was looking for. Everyone was very professional, but their purchase invoice form is loaded with useless stuff, such as DOCUMENTATION fees; ignore them or apply the more common NJ fees, around $200 to $250. There is also prep fee, which is quite useless in my case since the whole thing from start to finish took about 3.5 hours. The windshield still had streaks (not their fault but more because the pushy salesperson tried to close the deal TODAY and TODAY only). I did get a great price comparing to the other 2 dealers, but negotiated hard (2.5 hours) for my trade-in. Normally I sell my cars in the past, but the $500 Mazda loyalty program enticed me to trade. There are other dealers loaded with fabric sealant and other junk for $1,500, not Open Road. They do provide security etching like most dealers, just another thing to ignore. They also showed me the dealer trade-in book (Galvin sp?), also ignore it since I use Edmund and KBB as a base. One just needs patience to negotiate and keep your composure. If I'm just buying a new car w/o trade-in, I would consider them again, just need to be aware and reading books such as "Don't get taken every time" by Sutton. Another Costco dealer was easy to work with until we talked about trade-in. Buying a car off the lot also save us both (dealer and me) money. I got the car with the options I wanted except for the color (hot to get and loaded with extras). GLTA.

Lies, tricks.

by shybling on 11/10/2011

I live 2.5 hours away, but am looking for a Mazda3 in blue with the sunroof. I saw their car on autotrader and went on their website, made an offer. They emailed me back saying they were 'close' to my offer, and to come in. Via phone I specifically asked if there are any scratches, dents or anything like that. They told me no, it is in perfect condition. By phone and email several I told them I am 2 and a half hours away and do not want to make a trip for nothing. By phone they verified that they would accept my offer, and that I could take home the vehicle that day. When I got there, they would not take less than $2,000 MORE than my offer, plus I find that the car has a chip in the windshield, and peeling paint on the trunk that they tried to cover up with a color stick. They tried to offer me every other car, tried to get me to finance when I wanted to pay cash. I finally walked out, wasted trip, wasted gas, wasted day. Don't waste your time here. If they are trying to cover up issues like peeling paint, what else is underneath that they are covering up? They trick you into getting there so that they can force something else down your throat. Dishonest, cheap.

Open Road Mazda East Brunswick gave me the best Price on Line

by tesker on 11/15/2010

Open Road East Brunswick gave me the best Price on Line (thank's PAUL RUBIN - On Line Service). Thank's them, I saved lot of time and nerves on negotiations process. Sales Person Mohamed Khan is one of the best. After visiting other Dealers in Range of 50Mls, we war on the Alert and expected some kind of Tricks, because the Price was really too good! We didn't get any Pressure to buy something additional. Two Weeks later we called Mohamed about Registration and Plates, and got them next Day with overnight FedEx. That is our personal Experience.

Avoid this Dealership - Terrible Experience

by ldaly22 on 09/29/2010

Open Road Mazda used high pressure sales practices, failed to disclose key conditions of the offer and the verbal representation and agreement was not consistent with written contractual terms. I was pressured into a "lesser model" than my indented purchase. But I was assured that this less expensive purchase and my down payment would absorb all fees (for over mileage on my trade-in lease). 3 weeks after this compromise purchase, I received a bill for $1,200. When I challenged the bill reminding them of our agreement and the contractual discussion that all fess were covered - they refused to take my calls. No return phone calls for 30 days -- which is when the bill was due. I went to ORM in person to challenge their failure to honor verbal agreement and the GM offered to reissue a contract absorbing the amount and sell me another car - meaning I would pay for this as well in a new contract on a new car. Impossible to trust them, so I said no and asked for the money to be reimbursed. I was told I could be given "service credit for double the amount" $3500 value and it would be in writing. My car required 2 service calls and neither were "appropriate for this verbal offer" - never got it in writing. I filed a complaint with BBB and they have forwarded my case to the State. With national car companies counting on us to bail them out of financial ruin one would think that the dealerships would be working harder to be honorable and gain consumer trust. There are many other dealerships - avoid this one.

Waste of Time

by pbernner on 04/29/2010

I agree with other reviewer. It is waste of time. They like to advertise low internet price and will play all the tricks in the book to bump the price. I would pay couple of houndred dollars more and deal with another turst worty dealer who is upfront in the price. try your own luck..

Don't Stop!!

by backinblack1 on 07/20/2009

Misleading internet pricing. After I negotiated a deal on a CX9, it turns out that the vehicle had dvd player that was dealer installed and was not on the sticker. The General Manager wanted to charge me $150 to remove the player. Before I filled out the credit application, I asked what the document fees were. The General Manager said $389. At that point I took out my car keys and walked out. I wound up doing the deal at [another dealership].
