Ask for the right sales person

by megabite on 11/28/2011

The sales person you deal with makes all the difference. If you get a high pressure person, just leave and come back and try again later. Or else go to the sales manager and request Sean Donleavy for your sales person. I'm an older woman--one of those "targeted" by high pressure guys--and I've learned just to be rude right back. This problem is not usually specific to any one dealership. It's all about the sales guy (or gal).

Beware

by hbrenner1 on 10/13/2011

The price that was finally agreed to verbally with the sales manager was not reflected in the price break down sheet. When they brought out the sheet that shows what I was getting for my tradein, it was $500 less than was agreed to. Make sure that you read every thing very well. I went to Carson City Toyota and purchased my car. Before you buy any thing from this dealer go visit the Carson City Toyota dealer. A great place.

Old-School Tactics With A Little Chicanery Thrown In

by lawstudent on 10/06/2008

Reno Toyota is a classic "system sell" operation. Their goal is to maximize profit with add-ons and in-house financing and close the sale whether by confusion, stalling, or other psychological tactics. First they want you to fall in love with a car, then they want all your financial details/plans/restraints so they can decide how to carve you up. Get used to the "T.O.", or takeover as you are moved from salesman to salesman. They work in teams for a lack of accountability. I heard a sales associate refer to customers as "set-ups". Do not sign anything, not even a napkin, at this place. Guard your signature with your life, and if you do sign a contract, make sure it is complete, clearly written, and take up to half an hour to read the fine print. They have a practice of dividing the buyer's contract(price agreement) and finance agreement on a different form, then want you to sign a blanket debt agreement separate from the buyer's form. Make sure you get a copy of the first before signing the second, or the price could be amended without your agreement... you would then have no proof. If a contract is amended without consent of both parties, it is void. In addition, contract law states that a contract requires two or more competent parties, legal subject matter, consideration, and assent. A contract is not valid when fraud is undertaken in its signing. In short, watch your back. At Reno Toyota, you are the fish on the line, and it's your job not to let them reel you in.

Heavy Pressure

by sshurman on 01/17/2008

I found these people very heavy pressure and sleezy. They have one guy on the lot to "reel" you in and after you have been in negotiation with this fellow for over an hour and you get inside at the table to talk things out: Bam. Some other person from the "team" comes to close the deal; someone with whom you have had no interaction and whom is very insistent that you buy the car immediately. I was told that if I bought a Toyota in Carson that I would have to get it serviced at the Carson dealership, not the Reno one. When I was negotating price I was told that only the housing prices were affected by the below-prime mortgage crisis, not anything else, like car prices. I was also treated to a diatribe about how hard it has been for him lately financially and his marital troubles.

Outstanding

by dotsme on 10/15/2007

We have been dealing with Reno Toyota since we moved back to Reno. We have purchased and traded in four cars. We keep going back for three main reasons. 1. The sales staff are non pressure and really care about you needs and wants. They truly do go out of their way. 2. You can't beat a Toyota. Mile for mile, dollar for dollar, it surpasses!! 3. The service department is knowledgable and efficient whether it be for normal maintenance or mile servicing. I am proud to be the first to review this company!! No wonder they are always packed with customers!! Thank you Reno Toyota!!

Again, Outstanding

by dotsme on 10/14/2007

Service department is just as awesome as sales department. You make an appointment and your they are ready to take your vehicle. Vehicle is delivered at the promised time, usually earlier than expected. If you need a ride, they are there immediately and they will pick you back up if you need them to. The service staff is knowledgeable and accommodating. They do not perform services that are not necessary, thus they do not rip you off. The pricing is fair and the estimates are accurate. Highly recommend this company for routine servicing as well as any necessary repairs. But... when you buy a Toyota, you don't need many repairs (smiles).
