First BMW purchase

Shopping at Herb Chambers BMW was great experience. I felt super welcomed and All the staff were super friendly. I worked with Abdou was my client advisor and has been very helpful from day 1. I initially presented two weeks prior and then returned and Abdou remembered me immediately. He coordinated transportation while I waited for my car to be ready. Working with him made the process of buying a new car much easier!

New brakes and tires for a monsoon weekend!

This past week, my x3 2017 BMW was in need of a pre-road trip prep. The tires looked ok but had dry-rotted so would have been treacherous with the Northeast coast weather. The tech send a video of every section of the car which needed attention. Car was all set by closing. On the road, I hit ponded water, and flash flooding on the highway, four times the sky opened up and traffic hit a crawl, but the car stopped on a dime and the tires held the road like a new car. Thanks to Matt and his ace team!

Misled initially but Service Mgr intervened

The serv assoc misrepresented the problem I feel in an attempt to extract a big repair bill. Quoted $6.5K for new eps steering rack + $1,2 K for accompanying wire harness. Total fee $7.7K. The repair description was also for the older hydraulic power steering systems that my car doesn’t have, not for the newer electric power system that I do have. These two power steering technologies are different, but the serv assoc didn’t seem to grasp this or care. The multi point inspection document was missing, as was the diagnostic video from the mechanic. Items I am accustomed to receiving from prior experience here. I complained and eventually was provided the diagnostic video which clearly showed exposed wiring to the steering rack. The rack itself was fine, it was just wiring corrosion. I got the Serv Mgr involved, who agreed to compensate for the errors, and ended up paying $1K for the final wiring fix, which although I’m grateful for the small gesture, still feel over-charged for a relatively minor issue that I probably could have fixed myself w some electrical tape. So, I’m still wary of working w this dealership although I do really appreciate the diagnostic video from the mechanics themselves. This goes a long way to building trust. It’s the front line service associates I don’t trust who I feel always attempt to pad the final repair with unnecessary service. So although I’m grateful my car was repaired, and they recovered from their initial lapses, it was still a very aggravating contentious experience overall, which unfortunately is what I’ve come to expect from them.

Airbag issue...solved in advance!

Recently on a car forum there was a massive emergency recall issued, calling for airbag replacement. Since I have two of these x5 for that generation of that particular airbag, I contacted the service department at Herb Chamber's BMW in Boston. I soon got a return email from the manager, Matt Krappe, that the airbags in each vehicle, had already been replaced at a prior service visit. Gave me some peace of mind that I could safely drive my older two x5s.

Great Service

I bring my BMW in for service twice a year..and the only person I will go to is Sam Dias..he is the best! His attention to detail with my car is what I depend..I drop my car off at 7am ..get a Lyft to work..and know my car is in good hands..I bring my car in for the multipoint inspections..regular maintenance..oil changes..inspection stickers..Sam will go over what is needed in maintenance or necessary work..and we go over what should be done at that time and what can be addressed down the road..Sam notes on my account all this information..I trust his input..he is well versed..honest..considerate and fair..all these traits are important to me..as always ..Great job Sam!

20 year old 2003 x5 stick shift In for original caliper replacement and brakes work. Potential serious safety issue in an older vehicle resolved by Matt and the crew at the Comm. Ave. location. Now drives like a brand-new dream!

Gotta open the windows!

In for a new window regulator for a rear window which had a mind of its own going up and down - part is replaced. So the heat won’t be flying out as well as safety factors, as against theft. Great job by Matt’s crew. Strategic body issues are as important for safe travel as mechanical issues on a 20 year old car which is treated as well as a brand new BMW. I enthusiastically recommend Herb Chambers BMW in Boston!

Great first experience at the Service Center

This was my first time since our move to Brookline and was delighted by the candid approach and high service levels of Joel and Esmeraldo at the Service Center. Lyft was an easy back and forth with no waiting time! Detail wash left my X5 like new!

BMW Emergency Fix

My BMW was taken in right away due to an emergency as the car lost its coolant and the battery was not recharging. Audrey was very responsive in making an appointment for within a half hour of my phone call. Tech took and quickly sent me a video of the many things needed to be fixed. Julieth quickly provided quotes. Work was done in a timely manner and was costly. I think that the dealership’s repair costs are high but they do a quality job.

Great gap repair while waiting for a part!

Had a window regulator failure on my 2003 x5 stick shift. With the supply chain challenges - the window had to be raised and stabilized until the new regulator is delivered. Matt and the crew got the window in the track and raised to close (in this chilly October weather) to get the car drive-able and protect the interior from the outdoor elements. It was not a response “we have no part” - they were thinking creatively outside-the-box to get me a drive-able solution until the regulator comes in! A+ - all around!

Great BMW Service

The Service Department was quick to respond when I arrived unannounced with a damaged tire late in the day. They offered to fix it, while I waited. However, I took them up on their offer of a free round trip to my home. They kept me up-to-date on the status of the repairs. Herb Chambers runs a terrific group of dealerships.

Always superb service

Whether you have an old bimmer or new one they always locate the issues. Parts are pretty much stocked. Excellent quality maintenance. Matt, Kyle and the rest of the service team are knowledgeable and are a delight for a chore such as service. They have a large waiting area with a large screen TV and light refreshments. Terrible

Worst customer service I’ve experienced in a long time. They strung me along for 4 hours after I was initially told it would be ready (was there I total of 6.5 hours). I lost income as I had to cancel later afternoon appointments. When I was told it was ready, I waited 45 minutes while one person told me they were washing the car and another said they were still looking for my car. It was returned unwashed. Completely neglected. I then asked for the manager to call me as I could no longer wait there until he was available. No one followed up. Very disorganized, terrible communication and I felt they simply don’t care.
