Oil change service

by Nonenone on 05/15/2020

This was an oil change and tire rotation. I was disappointed that the service agent did not let me know about a recall on my truck. They should have.

Hagerstown Ford Service

by DanMonk on 09/18/2019

Jay Delancey did an excellent job servicing my 2008 Ford F250, (171,000mi) both during an engine replacement as well as the last vehicles service. Jay runs a very clean and efficient operation. Based on the great levels of service I recieved I will be bringing my truck to Hagerstown Ford for all future services. Sorry Frederick Ford!

No tire rotation with oil change

by Dave C. on 01/07/2019

I was surprised to find out that you could not reset my tire location. When you rotated my tires on my Chevrolet. So I had to have your service tech put my tires back where they were. I know that Chevrolet is not the only make that has this technology. You claim to service all makes and models. So why can't you reset tire location

Full Synthetic Oil Change/Overall Vehicle Check

by Doodles on 06/18/2018

Great place to have your vehicle serviced. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Not only is your car serviced, the staff goes over the results of the vehicle check. No pressure to schedule fixes, but an honest breakdown/awareness of your vehicle so you'll know what to watch out for.

Feel Suckered

by vkeadle on 04/05/2013

I took my Van to get serviced in February becaue my engine light was on my oil light came on when I applied my break I had no heat and my car would idle high upon start up. They called me and advised that there were some recalls that had to be done and that everything that they needed to do to my car would cost me $1268. Theyhad my car for three days and when they called me to come pick it up they advised that everything was fixed. Well I went into the hospital two days later for surguery and was not able to drive for a month. When I finally did drive my car I noticed that my engine and oil light was back on and that my car still idled at start up. Now it is making a ticking sound when I drive. I called Ford and let them know that my car is not correct and I needed to bring it back in. I took it in Wednesday and they had it overnight. Cody called me Thursday morning to advise that I needed to have my oil pressure sending unit replaced and that it would cost me $350. I was livid! I just paid $1268 not even a month ago so why do I need to pay for something that was not corrected the first time my car was in there? HIs reason was because when I brought my car in the first time they did not see my oil light on so they did not bother to check the oil pressure and that when they were finished working on the car the oil light came on but, they did not take it back to see what the problem was. I told them not to touch my car and that I would come pick it up. I then called and spoke to the mamager Greg and of course he took their side and now he is saying that the oil pressure sending unit will not correct the problem because I have a bad motor that needs to be replaced for $5500 or he can give me a $500 credit vooucher to trade in my car and purchase a new one!!! Are you kidding me? Do you really think I would EVER purchase a car from you when you dont even honor your service. It is clear tht they did not diagnose my car correctly the first time so now I am out of $1268 and they wont even refund or correct the issue. I will never ever take my car here again!

poor customer service

by jmhagerstown on 02/05/2013

I have used the service department several times at Hagerstown Ford in the past year. We had our Ford diesel in the service department to have an intermittent electrical issue diagnosed. We were informed that the computer would need to be replaced at a cost of more than $1,000.00. The reason for replacing the computer did not seem correct. According to the service department their “best” diesel mechanic diagnosed our problem. We took the truck to Cumberland Valley Diesel (CVD) located in State Line, PA. Upon describing the issue to CVD they informed us that they had an idea what the issue could be. They diagnosed the AND fixed the problem. It was a simple poor ground wire. According to CVD this is a common issue and the FIRST thing they check as it is so simple and CHEAP to fix. Cost to fix our truck by CVD $75.00. We recently had our Escape in for an oil change service special. This appointment was scheduled and we dropped off the Escape the night before. Upon arriving he next afternoon to pick-up our Escape the scheduled service was not completed. When they finally completed the service they safety inspection missed a headlight bulb that was burned out. They did provide the oil change for free due to their mistake. Our Escape was just in Hagerstown Fords Service Center for a failed electronic power steering failure. The power steering completely locked and could not be moved. We had the vehicle towed to Hagerstown Ford and since this was a complete failure of the steering we assumed that Ford would want to address this issue. Ford Customer Care…cared less about the failure. Hagerstown Ford stated that if Ford wouldn’t provide assistance there was nothing they could do to help in this unusual situation. Upon doing a quick internet search it appears that the electronic power assist has a failure rate. Although, most do not completely fail they just stop providing assist and the wheel can still be turned. In our circumstance the wheel could not be moved at all. So this was a complete failure of the steerin system. In addition, I was able to find a Ford dealer that sells parts to the public at cost plus 10%. The electronic power steering column has a MSRP of $850.00. We were able to purchase the same OEM part for under $600.00. I discussed this situation with Tim R., Hagerstown Fords Service Manager. I explained that I found that in fact this issue with our Escape was not unheard of (source NTSB web site). In addition, I could obtain the part for far less than $850.00 his department quoted. I also explained that I understood our vehicle was out of warranty however, this was an unusual situation as the steering completely failed. In addition it was not difficult to deduce that based on the information I found regarding a known failure rate of the part, the fact that Ford as nearly 200 of this “cheap” parts sitting on the shelf in the warehouse it wasn’t difficult to surmise that Ford has an issue. Although, the extent of this issue is likely still being evaluated and studied to determine the scope/cause of the problem. After some discussion Tim offered the part to us at cost plus 20%. His department’s labor rate is $100.00 per hour and according to Tim it would take 4.5 hours to replace the part ($450). I believe this offer was more out of frustration that I found the part such a great price as he couldn’t believe that I could purchase the part the price I quoted. I had sincerely hoped that either Ford or Hagerstown Ford would have offered to provide some assistance in this situation; if for no other reason than to show good faith to a long time Ford Customer. It certainly would have been in Hagerstown Fords best interest to offer some assistance to try to keep us a customer. After all, we live less than 1 mile from the dealership. I gave both Ford and Hagerstown Ford many opportunities to make the best out of this situation; however in the end neither was willing to make the best of a bad situation. I explicitly explained to both of them I did not expect the work for free but some good will would have gone a long way in this circumstance, considering the steering completely failed. The upside to all this is that I was able to find a very good shop, Battleview Service located in Boonsboro, MD that completed the work at a significantly reduced price compared to Hagerstown Ford. Battleview was able to install the part AND program it without any problem. They were very courteous and professional. I should also mention that we tried to purchase 2 new Escapes from Hagerstown Ford. The first time they tried to pull a switch on us we specifically as for pricing on a 4x4 and they quoted us pricing on a 2x4. I questioned the pricing several times and was told that the pricing was correct and it was a GREAT deal. We were prepared to sign when I noticed the exact model was a 2x4 suddenly the price for a 4x4 was inserted not such a good deal. The 2nd time they were not able to match the price of dealership 45 minutes away and they kept giving me the run around. I also looked at used vehiacal that had supposedly passed an inspection and was “ready to go”. I found several issues including, burned out headlight, ripped wiper blade, burned out turn signal bulb and a burned out license plate bulb. I cannot recommend Hagerstown Ford sales or service based on my personal experiences outlined above. I can confidently recommend Cumberland Valley Diesel (CVD) for your PowerStroke and Battleview Service for other work. As a long time Ford owner (more than 1 million miles behind the wheel of a Ford and a Ford owner since age 16 -38 year Ford owner) I am uncertain that the next vehicle will be a Ford based on my recent experience with Ford Customer Care. If Ford decides to contact me and make this situation better, which is extremely doubtful based on my phone conversations with them, I will update this review.

Dead battery

by twigfield on 11/11/2011

Battery has been dead at least 15 times (under warranty). Took truck out of service and to shop. Left all day. Came back next day and told battery tested good, but they had another test they could do which would take 3 hrs and they needed it for another day. It was left there all day over 10 hrs and they couldn't do test then? No concern for having to take truck out of service for day. Was cheaper to purchase new battery than to deal with this
