Awesomeness

by Queen Blackman on 01/07/2021

My sales rep was Skip Jones very knowledgeable young man! I inquired about a vehicle online he called me within a hour. We spoke about vehicles and options I told him I would like to test drive a car and he had it delivered right to my door. I am so happy with my decision I love my new car and Skip was a pleasure to work with!!! I will definitely be purchasing my next vehicle with him!

What A Great Experience!!!

by JimRichard on 12/14/2020

What a great experience we had at Jake Sweeney!!! The sales rep, Shannon Lowe went far above and beyond to help make this dream purchase a reality. Not only did we find the exact vehicle we wanted, it had exactly every option we wanted and in the right color. I wanted to make this purchase for my wife’s Christmas present. We came to terms on the purchase, and the day I was supposed to get it, I didn’t have a way to get to Florence. Shannon got in his personal car and drove nearly three hours to pick me up and we drove back to Florence where I was able to pick it up and drove it home. This is the first purchase I have made for a dealer since 1991!!!’ I had a bad experience then, and was hesitant about purchasing from a dealership again but I am glad I gave them a chance to earn my business. And, did they ever earn my business!!! I plan to deal with them again and again. Wow! What a great experience!!!

We will travel from Georgia again for this Dealership

by Traveling Doctors on 12/03/2020

What an absolute gem of a dealership Sweeney KIA is. Was visiting from Atlanta and stumbled upon this find. Michael Butts dealt with my elderly mother with such finesse it was a joy to work with him! He was kind, courteous, knowledgeable and definitely not pushy because I would have walked out, which I always do from pushing dealerships. The entire dealership seemed to enjoy their jobs and were concerned about placing you into a vehicle of your liking at a great price. We will call or see Michael Butts before buying again.

by Austin D on 11/29/2020

I went to Jake Sweeney Kia having done my research and with a good idea of what I was looking to purchase. I had the pleasure of working with Mike Butts who was helpful, positive, and extraordinarily pleasant in working with and answering all my questions. I will definitely be going back to this dealership for my future purchases!

Great, easy and quick purchase service.

by Nathan Clifton on 10/25/2020

I set up a test drive of a 2021 Kia K5. Salesman was quick to get with me and go over the features of the K5. After the test drive, paperwork for trade in and purchase was done within about 90 minutes. All told I was at the dealership for about 3 hours from test drive to leaving with the car.

Outstanding

by Go to for all my future Kias on 05/12/2020

On a cold windy day, we decided to go test drive a Sportage and a Sorento. I drove 2 Sportages, a Sorento and a Soul. I was flip flopping between the different vehicles for over an hour!! Mike was so easy to work with, he never grumbled when I changed my mind! He was funny, polite, professional and honest with me throughout the entire process. I chose the Soul but the only one that had everything I wanted and in the color I preferred was on the showroom floor! Mike said not a problem and made it happen!! Fantastic experience, I even got to meet Mr Sweeney himself- cool guy!!

Misleading

by Csmith607 on 04/11/2019

My husband and I bought a truck from Jake Sweeney about a month-and-a-half ago and it was misleading because the guy told us that we were getting a paint protection for free. He said it was for three years, but later on we were told from a different guy that it was really for 5 years and we did pay $899 for this. I'm really frustrated because we went there trusting them with their word. We sat there for 8 hours waiting for them to do their job and I still had to point out mistakes on the numbers that were on the paperwork. We was already pre-approved from cinfed credit Union,so all they had to do was call the lady, get a check that we pick up and bring it to them, but they decided to do it a different way and that's why we were there for 8 hours and we still had to go on and do it the way that I originally told them. About three weeks later my husband noticed some rust on the bottom of the doors, he told them that they needed to look at it and fix it because we had the paint protection. They did part of the work, but denied the rest of the work because they said they didn't know the rust was there, so it was considered a pre-existing condition. If they didn't know it was there how were we supposed to know it was there. We bought a truck thinking that we had protection to fix something that was messed up when we bought it so obviously the paint protection is worth crap because they can deny it saying that they didn't know about a pre-existing condition. We bought it from them trusting their word and their word means nothing. We do appreciate the work they did do because it was fantastic, but will probably never shop with Jake Sweeney Kia again because of the runaround that we received. I was looking for a vehicle for myself, but it most likely won't be there. Also customer service is horrible because we tried to call them on several occasions left messages and no return phone calls. We had to go into the shop to find someone that gave us a million and 10 reasons why they didn't call us back. First reason was the guy that we called isn't in the office very much and he's been very busy. The guy that told us this said I will make sure I call you back when you call and message me, to no avail he did the same thing as the first guy. I will say I've never had a horrible experience like I did with Jake Sweeney Kia in Florence. It would be nice if someone would fix what they obviously knew about, but claimed they didn't. I have never done a bad review in my life because I don't like them, but we paid a lot of money for a vehicle that should be fixed before the rust deteriorates the rest of the truck. I always like to give companies a second chance, but if it can't be fixed then a second chance would not be given and I would let everyone know exactly how my experience was.

Misleading and Manipulative

by Jess_FOST on 10/16/2018

Let me start by saying this was my first car buying experience which should have been fun and exciting but it was ruined by Jake Sweeney. I'm 19 years old and have worked hard to get where I am today. They knew that I was so young and this was my first car buying experience and I feel like because of these things they took advantage of me and tricked me into thinking I was getting a good deal and that I could trust them. But in reality I wasn't getting a good deal and I couldn't trust them. On October 9th I purchased a used 2014 Ford Focus ST from this dealership, and now I'm currently fixing my car myself after only owning it for 13 days since Jake Sweeney won't stick to their word of a 30 day bumper to bumper warranty even though I've only had the car for 13 days (only had it 10 days when I dropped it off to them, but they would not look at it immediately even though this car is my only form of transportation to my 2 jobs and school). Worst dealership ever, and here's why... They are misleading and manipulative. Their 30 day "bumper to bumper" warranty is only valid on parts and systems that they denied to fix when the car first came in used and they took it back and put it on a lift to check everything over and do basic maintenance on it (oil change & tire rotation). If they find something that's wrong with the car and it's too expensive or takes too much labor, they have the right to deny service. So if you happen to be driving it within the first 30 days and something is wrong with the car, and you take it back to them, they'll look in their system and see if they denied service on the particular issue and if they did deny it, then you are covered for the 30 day bumper to bumper warranty. Let me add that when you buy the used car, they don't explain what the 30 day warranty covers and they also won't tell you what service has been done or what they have denied. They also sell you a used car with their "amazing" lifetime mechanical/powertrain protection. How that works is whatever your car is valued at, let's say $10,000, they'll only cover mechanical/powertrain parts that are half of what your car is valued at. So for a car worth $10,000 they'll cover parts that are $5,000 or below. Most people know that a motor or transmission is going to cost you way more than $5,000. Plus the longer you own your car the more it drops in value, so after 10 years of owning a car, nothing would be covered in the "lifetime" mechanical/powertrain protection because that car is not worth anything anymore. To say the least, Jake Sweeney will fool you into thinking you can trust them and that your car is covered for life when you buy it from them. But if you go back with a problem after 10 days of owning your car, you're screwed because they won't help you. Let me also add that the only problem on this car is the purge valve. Takes maybe 15 minutes to install and only costs $40 for the part. They did do a free diagnostic test on it and gave me my paper saying that this was the issue. But before I dropped it off to them I stopped by auto zone (where a code check is always free) and the code told me it was the purge valve, so the free diagnostic test doesn't really mean anything to me, because auto zone could tell me the same thing and I don't have to wait 3 days for auto zone to tell me what the problem is on my car. Here's your warning people. Never buy from Jake Sweeney Kia in Florence, KY.

Staff with criminal records, deceptive

Came to buy a new car and the entire staff was very unprofessional. Tried to follow up with upper mgmt and they never responded with anything productive. Many employees I dealt with directly have criminal records.

Broken Verbal Promises - twice

by DealerReview1 on 01/12/2017

I initially called and talked to Tom on a Monday inquiring about a vehicle. I received a quote that I liked and asked them to send me a Purchase Order since I was coming from out of town. A full day went by so I called again and then was told they misquoted me and that they would send the new quote via email. Another day passed (now Wednesday) and I had to call yet again to get them to send me a quote and finally got an email stating it was good to see me and meet me when I came into the dealership (which never happened). Shortly after that, I got an email with very limited information about the quote. In the meantime, I had gotten a quote on the identical car in another color from another dealer. I began working with another salesperson since I was unhappy with the responsiveness of the first gentleman (Tom). I sent my written purchase order quote from the other dealer to them (new salesperson Ricky) and they said they would match it nearly immediately which was great because they had the color I wanted. I asked that they send me a PO or quote so we could work on finalizing the deal and they said I would have to trust their word because they were a reputable dealership. I explained nicely that because I was coming from out of town, I needed some sort of assurance in writing so I didn't waste a days trip. They wouldn't give me anything in writing and then shortly after told me that the "deal was off" because they "decided" I was shopping around and wanted to use their price to get a lower one elsewhere. There isn't a dealer with that car in that color in a 500 mile radius last I checked and I even told them I was willing to put down a deposit to hold it. They told me the deal was off and to not worry about it. They were very rude and cocky the entire time and im glad the deal fell apart. Hopefully their "reputable dealership" can continue to sell cars only verbally and everybody can trust them, but my advise would be that you don't.

Avoid like the plague...

by brian1236 on 09/05/2015

Went into dealership doing leg work for my wife who was very busy at work but in need of a new car. She was interested in driving the Optima but didn't have time to get away from work. So I told her I would go visit Jake Sweeny Kia since it was close to us and see if I could test drive the car and take it to her for a test drive. I arrived at the dealership and it started just fine. Explained to my salesman that I would want to take the car to where my wife was, (5 miles away) so she could test drive it. The salesman was nice and helpful and completely understanding about my wanting to take the car to her. He went in and got me the key for a test drive and basically told me to take my time and he would be waiting for me when I got back. After driving the car she had ultimately decided that she would be OK with the Optima provided the price was no higher than $28.5k otherwise we would go with Buick or Ford which we felt were better all around cars. Now to be fair, we were driving the Turbo model with the tech package which stickered at $34k and we were going in asking for $5.5k off sticker and that it may not happen which she was perfectly OK with. But being as that we were there on August 31st and we were looking at a 2015 I figured they might be open to move the 15's off the lot and go with our offer. When I arrived back at the dealership I told my salesman that we wouldn't pay any more than 28.5k for the car. Which coincidently happen to mirror their online price for the car. (Which of course included a pile of rebates that no one human could possibly qualify for. Typical web BS pricing) But again, year end, figured they would move on the price and at the end of the day we felt it was only worth $28.5K. I also informed my salesman that we would be paying cash for the car. So in typical fashion the salesman scampers off to present the offer to his manager. Within mere moments of his disappearance, another guy, not the manager, shows up and starts giving me every reason in the world why buying the Kia was the only sane choice. He knew, presumably from the salesman, that I was buying the car for my wife and was trying every angle he could to convince me that if I didn't come home with that pretty blue colored Kia how disappointed the wife would be especially after I told him about Buick being his competitor (he launched into what is a very fair assessment about Buick's boring colors) and then debated a little too long with me when I said how in my opinion the Buick was a better drivers car. (Which it is.) Eventually the Kia up-talker middle guy leaves, with his psych evaluation presumably, and within mere minutes enters the "closer" the dealership manager. At this point I am a little aggravated having to have been exposed to this middleman jibber jabber tactic, but whatever, back to the closer. He comes in, introduces himself and starts his sales pitch. To which I immediately cut him short and told him, look, either you can do $28.5K or you can't. If you can then let's get this over with or you can't and I leave. This is where the fun began. He replies with, "Oh, I'm going to do the $28.5k but I want you to understand how I am getting there so as to build a "relationship" versus just a sale." I said OK, and then thought to myself I'll sit and listen to him as long as he is hitting my price point because apparently this is important to him although I simply didn't care. He starts talking about this rebate and that rebate and how the invoice is X and how the only way he could get there would be if I financed through Kia financing and even then they are losing money by making this deal and he could show me the invoice to prove it, blah, blah... At this point I stopped him and said I am paying cash for the car. He then says, "This is the first I'm hearing about this... Did you tell anyone else this?" To which I responded I told the salesman two things; one, $28.5k and not a penny more and two, paying cash. At which point he ask, “Why go through a credit union when we can give you financing?” I’m thinking to myself what? I didn’t say anything about a credit union. So I asked, “What are you talking about?” He continues on saying you can pay it off with your first payment, blah, blah and if I don’t finance through Kia he can’t get to my price. To which I tried to speak, couldn’t get the words out since I was being over-talked but started to stand up which told him all he needed to know. And that was this conversation is over. To which he launches into yet another rant about how my financing with a credit union is stupid. Finally I jumped in and over-talked him and said, “Who said anything about a credit union? I am paying cash.” His response, “Where are you getting the money then?” I respond, “You know, it’s called a bank account? Savings? Ever hear of it?” Perhaps being a Kia dealer the notion that someone could actually have saved up enough money to buy a car outright is a foreign concept, I don’t know… Then he starts in again with this combative attitude about how I am essentially being unreasonable and asked why do I keep saying you (Him) when discussing these matters. As if I should be saying what exactly? The Jake Sweeny family of dealerships? I said, “Well you are the one here in front of me, the dealership representative, and you are the one I’m talking to so I say you because that’s how a [non-permissible content removed] conversation works.” To which he says, “You aren’t going to swear at me, get out of my showroom!” A welcomed statement to be sure because I had been trying to leave but he kept after me. But now I was leaving on his terms not mine. So I guess that made him feel good about himself. And as I was getting up to leave he pops off with “Go buy a Buick then.” All that did was just confirmed what I already knew that this tandem sales tactic by middleman and closer is their game. It was like being transported back in time to a 1970’s used car lot. Now you would think this is where our story ends… But wait, there’s more. About 5 hours later that day I get a voicemail from my salesperson. He proceeds to apologize for the treatment I received while at the dealership and that he called his general manager and Jake Sweeney himself and explained the events from his perspective and they agreed to sell me the car for the $28.5k without having to finance though Kia for my troubles. He went on further to explain how the manager I dealt with was dealing with a sick mother on her death bed and was not himself. If true, I can empathize with that, but of course I can’t be sure that wasn’t made up. And if true, this man should have been aware enough about how this was affecting him and taken some time off instead of allowing himself to let a car negotiation turn into this personal issue for him. For someone who does this sort of stuff for a living it was the most unprofessional display I have ever witnessed. But at the end of the day the trifecta of salesmen approach deployed by this dealership is so annoying and unnecessary even if it had ended better. So I returned the salesman’s call and in a nutshell told him the only way I would consider buying from them would be that they would have to throw me a MUCH bigger bone on the price so I could be 100% certain that the two guys above him wouldn’t see one red cent in commission. And that is where our little story ends.
