Good Times

by russtyrcat on 01/23/2017

This was the BEST car buying experience I EVER had . All of my future purchases will be made at Pugi. When anyone asks , I'm referring them to Pugi. Specifically, Devon Brown. Devon went above and beyond the call of duty . He arranged for me to be picked up from my house, on the south side of Chicago, and delivered to the Pugi dealership in Downers Grove. A+ The owner must have a good eye for identifying exceptional talent

If I could give 0 stars - I WOULD!!!

by dmenef1 on 12/11/2016

I spoke with Matthew Goldstein and his manager about a car that was for sale. Told him me and my daughter wer on way to look at it, My daughters first car , she was very excited after seeing it on line.Mat' and his manager said they had it out front waiting for us. We traveled 40 miles only to find out they sold it within that 45 minute trip. That is BS. I will NEVER buy From PUGI--- BS again!!!!!

A great experience buying a great car.

by gomab151 on 08/11/2016

Dealership listened to me and exceeded my expectations. Told them the car I wanted, it wasn't on their lot, had it there within hours. Told them the monthly note i was willing to pay, they beat it by $10. Gave me a little more on my trade, a bit extra on rebate line and I drove away with a beautiful car. They were interested in selling ME a car. They made me feel comfortable and have earned my business for my next vehicle. If you're in the market give them a shot.

Very enjoyable

by mot9 on 05/16/2015

This is our first experience with Pugi. From my first contact with Dave Thomas until a follow-up visit days after picking up our new car we were treated with courtesy, not put under any pressure to purchase accessories or services that we did not want. Basically, all of the negatives one typically associates with buying a car did not happen to us a Pugi. I strongly recommend Pugi for a hassle free buying experience.

Bait and Switch - probably illegal...definitely unethical

by Wisewoman15 on 01/07/2015

I used Edmunds to get a Price Promise on a Mazda3. The price from Pugi seemed great - almost too good to be true. (how true!) The "special deal" was only good for one day (red flag). When I told the dealer I'd take it, he promised to call me back once he'd checked to make sure the car was still in stock. He never called. Day over, deal expired. The next business day, his manager contacted me. He told me the car from Price Promise was a manual, not automatic, so I'd have to pay $1000 more. Strange...I had specified automatic online. After we re-negotiated, they sent the paperwork, and I noticed that this time, the car was a sedan, not the hatch that I had specified. Again they claimed they didn't realize, and had to charge me an additional $500 for the Hatch. I had specified Hatch on Price Promise, and the first car (the manual) was a hatch. AND we had discussed options that could only be used for the hatch. These guys are dishonest. I wouldn't buy from them, even at a huge discount. Buyer Beware!

OUTSTANDING!!

by janette011 on 09/28/2014

OUTSTANDING!!!I could not be happier with my experience and purchase from Pugi Mazda. Jesse took over to tell me about the car and gave me the keys to test drive. Jesse was very helpful and patient throughout the process and I appreciated his honesty about his knowledge of the car. I also want to mention how the whole staff was great Rich, Mike, Dominic, Anthony, and even the porter all of them fantastic! If you decide to come here the staff will treat you right and will not mislead or pressure you. Everything from walking on the lot to closing a deal is comfortable and I highly recommend the good people here at Pugi Mazda!

Excellet Customer Service and awesome Service Manager

by gskyinfinity on 09/12/2013

I did not buy my car here but since I moved to Naperville, Lisle area I have got all my services and other problems related to my car taken care of at this location. The service manager "Anthony C." is excellent and very cordial and helpful. He makes sure everything is up to date and lets me know if I am missing anything or need to take care of anything. He is very personable and very observant of the vehicle and makes sure its tip top before he hands the key back to me. Everything gets taken care of even if i leave my car there leaving no room for inconvenience. All-in- all its a great dealership for service with excellent staff and I end up with a smile on my face every time I go there with a feeling that my car is secured and taken care of. Thanks Pugi Mazda and thanks Anthony.

Fast Painless Transaction

by dexy_x on 06/30/2011

Responded to dealership e-mail questions with details of car we wanted. Went in and test drove the car at 6:30 and left with the car at 8:45 the same evening. Great lease on a new VW Lux Limited. Only negative was had to return to get the car detailed as it was too late for regular crew - not a big deal.

Bad Dealerhip

by eaw5 on 08/21/2010

Don't buy a used or new car. I bought a used car from them this past July and I was robbed blind. First the car has been in the shop 4 days after purchase and I have had it in my possession maybe 10 days out of the thirty days of ownership. I now own an over priced high financed (which also was inflated to make a profit) USED car. Please don't be swindled like me.

Good experience!

by jeanettemh on 07/01/2009

I purchased a pre-owned 2009 Hyundai Sonata. The entire experience was positive. The sales staff person was helpful without being pushy. The sales and finance staff went out of their way to accommodate some of my needs. Felt no pressure to purchase add-ons. Fine folks!

Long term Mazda customer

by early74b on 06/04/2009

I'll put this in the service review as it's been awhile since I purchased my Mazda's (although purchased both from Pugi - a '99 Miata which I still own and an '06 Mazda3 GT both great experiences). Pugi Mazda service is now out of a new building just for Mazda's - they have always been great to deal with, I like them being open at 7AM so I can get my work done and still be to my office by 8:30AM for the start of my day although they also offer a shuttle. As my Mazda's have been very reliable, they have done mostly routine maintenance but did need to replace a few plastic pieces on the Mazda3 (sunvisor clip and rear seat cushion hold-down clip); in one instance they pulled the piece from a new Mazda so I didn't have to come back (much appreciated!) and all work has been performed well. The new showroom/service bldg is quite comfortable with TV and coffee/ internet access, etc. and the service guys keep you informed on the work (if needed). Although I have Mazda dealers closer to me (I'm in the Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates area) I keep going back after trying the local guys (another dealer did a poor job on a simple oil change -- didn't wipe down the underside of my Miata, thought I had an oil leak!). If you live in metro Chicago these guys are worth the trip!

A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE

by dairyland on 05/28/2008

My experience buying from Pugi was from a neighboring state so much of the communication was via phone. I bought a 2008 Mazda3S GT from them. I had thoroughly studied cars I was interested in via computer then went to see and drove them. I already knew what make of car and what accessories I wanted before dealing with the salesman at Pugi. I think the car sales people are realizing some of us car buyers are much more informed due to the access of computers and this makes their job easier. Hey, maybe they can give us a discount on the car?? The sale of the car went very smoothly even though I had to change my mind acouple of times. The salesman was professional, patient and did not exert any sales pressure which I greatly appreciated. I hate pushy salespeople and they would have lost the sale if that had happened-but they did not know this. I may have been able to negotiate the price down abit more but felt it was within a fair price range. The exact car I wanted was delivered to me by the salesman and the close of the transaction went smoothly-with no added pressure. I would definitely recommend this dealer.

Good Experience

by colloquor on 02/03/2008

We had an overall good experience with Pugi. We purchased a Hyundai Elantra, and the price was negotiated with their Internet Manager. The price was excellent, and there was no haggling or additional sales pressure when we went in to pay for the car. However, when we closed the transaction with the F&I Manager the next day, there was significant pressure to buy paint sealant, and an extended warranty. Why I would want to buy an extended warranty with Hyundai's excellent basic warranty is beyond me! As an ex-carsalesman myself, I understand the tremendous profit that is made by selling dealer packs such as paint sealant, fabric protector, and extended warranties, but if a customer says "No," the F&I Manager should drop it and go on with writing up the paperwork and closing the sale. These pressure tactics "post-sale" in an effort to increase profit margin should be terminated. I would recommend this dealer, but just be prepared for some old-time pressure from the F&I Manager when you go in to pick up your vehicle. Just say "No," and continue to do so until he gets the message.

Different experience

by cferna2 on 11/28/2007

A week before we bought the Mazda Tribute, my wife and I had looked into a Ford Escape from a dealership literally half a block away from this one. I was truly impressed by the Ford Escape, but I was turned off by the sales person that I was dealing with. The gentleman played the typical sales tactics. So, I walked away from a deal and turned to Pugi. I entered Pugi of Chicagoland in Downers Grove expecting to encounter the usual, ridiculous, desperate, pushy salesman. I have to admit that I was pleasently surprised by the no pressure, no hassle sales person that I dealt with. My wife and I were interested in a small SUV. My first pick was the Santa Fe. My wife hated it. Thanks to the fact that Pugi has three brands (Mazda, Hyundai and Volkswagen), within one lot we had the opportunity to look at other cars. We finally decided that the Mazda Tribute (twin of the Ford Escape) was the way to go. There were two times when I felt pressured, it was after we had decided on the price of the car and the monthly payment for the car. They came at me EXTREMELY AGRESSIVE and I mean EXTREMELY AGRESSIVE to sell me protection for the paint, against rust and protection for the inside fabric of the car. I turned these down and the salesman got his manager to try to convince me that I needed this protection. I kept on saying no, but the manager kept on pushing this protection plan on me. He even brought the price down from $898 for the term of the loan to $699. I still said no, but the manager kept on pushing and telling me how important it is to get this type of protection. I guess there is a sucker born everyday since at the end I completely turned down the fabric protectant, but agreed to get the paint and rust protectant. It was given to me for $499 for the term of the loan. That bumped up my monthly payments by $20, which I regretted doing within five minutes, why? Because once I was seated with the finance office, the pressure began again. I was being pushed to buy, on a brand new 2008 Mazda Tribute, a 75,000/6 year bumper to bumper Warranty. As I told the finance guy, if I hadn't being soft enough to get the ridiculous paint and rust protectant, i would have gotten the warranty. But the finance guy wouldn't take no for an answer, he kept on going and going and going and going and going and going. I had to say no well over 50 times before he gave up. I felt duped and like an idiot for giving into buying the paint protectant, I wasn’t going to be duped twice. Yes, ouch right?! Overall, 95% great experience looking at cars and getting the price that I wanted for the car that I wanted. Very poor experience with the dealership trying to sell me extra protection for the paint and fabric of the car and an extended warranty. My advice, don't buy the paint, against rust and fabric protection or the extended warranty. I have had my car for two days, and I am kicking myself on the butt for buying the paint and against rust protection. As for the extended warranties, do your research on this. Here on edmunds.com there are links to reputable sites that actually sell great extended warranties that are inexpensive compared to what the dealerships sell. I do recommend this dealership, but be ready for the salesman to get very pushy when it comes to the paint and fabric protectant and the finance guy trying to sell you an extended warranty.

Purchased CX-9 - Overall, it was a good experience

by dashbb on 08/23/2007

We purchased our CX-9 a couple weeks ago from Pugi Mazda. The dealership has a small showroom since they've squeezed 3 different brands (Mazda, Volkswagen & Hyundai) inside a showroom designed for no more than 2. Nevertheless being Summer season, we had to break some sweat going all the back to the lot to pick our CX-9 with the color, options, etc. The price paid was okay but it did take a lot of negotiating. There was no pressure tactics whatsoever. Overall, we're happy with the deal. Even after the purchase, we went in for accessories and a couple of them, they installed for free & also washed the car. We did feel a little pressured to buy some extra warranties, paint protection plans, etc, but the overall process went smooth.
