Won’t sell cars to out of state buyers!!

CarMax has extremely suspicious tactics and are evasive in their disclosures. One that is shocking was their admission that they could not sell to anyone outside of the state the car was located in! Absolutely strange since I was flying to that location to purchase the car! Shopper BEWARE of CarMax!!

Low Quality standards

I am writing this letter to express my great disappointment in the honesty being displayed at your dealership in Jacksonville Fl.. I recently purchased A 2011 VW GTI which I waited almost 2 weeks for. When I picked up the car it was a cold and rainy night, I asked the sales person if the car looked good and I specifically asked if the tires were in good shape, I was told everything looks good. I trusted the word of the salesperson and the integrity of CarMax itself and drove a way. I noticed the car was breaking traction very easily on the wet roads so the next day, in the daylight, I looked at the tires and was shocked and saddened to see the tires were completely worn out. I took the car to Tires Plus to get a professional opinion I was told the tires were made in 2010 which is written on the side of tires which makes them 7 years old and that all 4 tires were dry rotted and by Tires Plus standards they considered a car with these tires, unsafe to drive. I also noticed both front rims are damaged, the windshield is chipped in the center and the interior fabric around the roof lights is pulled out and hanging down. After waiting 2 weeks for this car, paying hundreds of dollars for this car to be shipped and trusting the dealership in Mississippi when I ordered it that the car met CarMax’s own high quality standards, standards which are clearly not high, I am now put in the awkward position of needing to write this letter and having to return the car. I have lost faith in the quality of this vehicle so I have ordered a different GTI which is 2000 dollars more and comes with new tires which according to the website were put on the car to meet CarMax’s high quality standards I am asking CarMax that my dealership on Atlantic Blvd in Jacksonville, Florida shows they are honorable by being willing to split the 2000 dollar up charge on this new GTI so I am not in the end paying for the tires put on this vehicle by the CarMax dealership in Gainesville, this would restore my faith in CarMax’s integrity and allow me to speak highly of them in the future as I have always done in the past. When I returned the car to the Jacksonville Beach’s dealership I was told the damaged to the rims could be repaired, yet it wasn’t, the roof lining could also be repaired, yet it wasn’t, the chipped windshield was not mentioned and the tires I was told met CarMax standards, I was told they measured 4/32, Tires plus said they measured 3/32 either way 7 year old tires make this a low standard not high and the tires were 7 years old. I did not argue, I did not come to CarMax to argue I came there for a quality experience . There are lots of used car lots that would treat a costumer like this I though thought CarMax was better than this. I still believe I deserve a 1000 dollar refund, I put 7500 dollars down on this car if there is no response from you then this will be my last car from CarMax and I will have to advise friends to do the same. CarMax has not responded to the above letter, which only adds to the disappointment and so I would say this although my sales person and the people in the financial department were kind and easy to deal with in the end the car was a disappointment the way I was treated and the money I lost also disappointing the lack of a response from the corporate headquarters after sending them a copy of the letter from Tires plus which stated the tires were unsafe and there unwillingness to replace them or reduce the price of the car has left me feeling like this is just another used car place they lack integrity and so shop there knowing the people are friendly but the Quality standards are low.
