worst christmas ever

by zachm0428 on 12/15/2015

This is a review basing my experience that I had with Suburban Subaru. I have bought two cars from them in the past. I bought one Nissan and one Subaru. I had one financed and one leased. I didn’t have a problem with the first vehicle. When I went and chose to purchase another vehicle promises were made and they had a hard time keeping them, however they did manage to keep their promises after a long and tedious back and forth process with them. However I was satisfied. This time is a new story. Back in February and March of 2015 I submitted a credit app on the internet and I had a vehicle in mind that I wanted to purchase. I had 2500 down for the vehicle and I was ready to go and purchase. I spoke with Jamie and he said that he was processing my application and they were going to take a look at the vehicle and tell me what it needed. Needless to say time went by and I never received a call. I had called a few times and was told they were working on it. So let’s fast forward. I never left a bad review for them on that and I thought that I would give them another chance even though they hit my credit multiple times. I figured maybe it was a heads up for me to maybe repair my credit a little more. I left it at that and didn’t do anything. Within the last week I have been working with Suburban Subaru in regards to a new application that I submitted. They hit my credit 2 times for a vehicle that I was interested in. They told me that I needed 1 800 dollars down. I stated that I had CLOSE to it at the time and might want to wait until February. So I was able to find a person that wanted to co sign for me. Then someone said that they would get back to us about the joint app. Well I called and spoke with a Britlyn and she gave me an attitude and basically gave me the impression that she didn’t want me calling and I was bothering her. Just to let them do whatever the heck it is they do. I was like ok. I wrote emails to the President Pete and the General Manager Lane. They said they had a plan and Jamie stated that he was CONFIDENT he would make it work for me. The plan was to get something for zero down or close to it. Jamie assured me he had a plan and was confident and also the manager Lane assured me the full force of suburban Subaru was working to try and get me a loan. Now this is all considering a year or so more ago I had to voluntary surrendered both my vehicles due to hardships in my life. The finance manager and the general manager were well aware of this. Why could they not have known I would be denied for a better loan than what they originally offered me? They have been doing this for many many years… My credit got hit WELL over 10 times. My credit monitoring service noticed a drop in over 75 points !!!! I am trying to rebuild credit !!! I feel like a bunch of credit reports were just run to show me that they were doing something when in reality they didn’t do anything that could have helped me. All it did was hurt me and the effort of trying to repair my credit for the last year and a half. I am now in a worse credit situation and DEFINETLY cannot get a loan anywhere without a large amount of money down. The sad part is I had most of the 1800 they originally wanted down, but they were not willing to work with me and see if it couldn’t be reduced the tiniest bit with the holidays so close. They claim that after hitting my credit well over 10 times and ruining my credit even more, I am still approved for a loan with 1800 down and to keep my head up and life will get better. Way to add insult to injury. I am extremely disappointed especially since they seemed so confident in being able to help me and get me into SOMETHING to drive to work so I can provide for my family before the car I am driving now dies. I am heartbroken and have lost most of my confidence since repairing my credit as much as I did after looking at the scores last night after all the hard hits. I wish this never happened. This was the worst possible gift someone could get at this time of year. Their credit being hurt bad was pretty much what I wanted for Christmas. And still no vehicle. This is NOT to bash you, But to tell you how I feel about my experience and let others know also how I feel after trusting Suburban Subaru.

Great Interent Sales Program

by gosubs on 02/11/2011

I can't speak for all the other negative reviews on this website, but I was completely satisfied with my car buying experience through this dealer. Britlyn, my internet sales correspondant was responsive and addressed my questions and concerns quickly and concisely. I contacted 8 different Subaru dealers looking for internet pricing and Suburban by a landslide out bid the others and was always the quickest to respond. My timing for going to the dealership to purchase the car could have been better as I caught them at the end of the day, but I found the sales staff engaging, polite and willing to go out of there way to assist me in the process. Nick, my sales agent, went above and beyond, shovelling out the car I wanted from the back of the lot and cleaning it up to prisitine condition. I'm sure I could have haggled for a better deal on my trade in, but frankly I was just happy they took it off my hands and I got a few bucks in my pocket for the trouble. I came in with my own financing and lots of questions regarding tax exemptions and registration fee waivers for active duty military and Jose (finance) addressed all these issues spot on. They discussed the typical add-ons for underbody protection and extended warranties, but didn't push it in any way when I politely declined. Overall a very pleasant purchasing experience with no notable complaints.

Worst Car Buying Experience EVER

by plaidpineapple on 08/24/2009

This is a long story, but I'll make it more brief. I should have been suspicious when the tag had a WAS price and a NOW price. I saw them take in the trade and put the car on the lot, it was NEVER the WAS price. I bought my 2004 Subaru Baja here with the understanding that they would fix the couple things wrong with it- tailgate latch stuck open and there was a vibration in the steering. They said they would fix it before I drove it home. They said the wheels needed balancing. Well, i drove it home and both problems were not fixed. So I made an appointment to bring it back. I did- they balanced the tires AGAIN, and brought it back home and the problems were STILL not fixed. I looked at the latch, and all they did was spray WD40 on it. Despite that it obviously was not fixed, they just gave it back to me. At this point I didn't want to lose time at work for the latch, so I fixed it myself. The pin was rusty, and no amount of lube was going to make it not stick open. Meanwhile, I get a call from the sales manager saying I owe him money for the car. [violative content deleted] I paid for the whole thing with a bank check. I checked with my bank and well what do you know- my bank left out a digit in the middle. So I was going to go in on the weekend to give them the balance. Before that happens, the manager calls again looking for his money- mind you everyone had missed this bank typo and they have signed over the title to me- so far as I'm concerned, I'm doing this on my own time. But the guy is obviously a hot-head and starts accusing me of trying to get away without paying for the car! Yikes! Then they say they're holding my registration because they LOST the title for the car I traded in! Boy these guys have their act together! SO thats taken care of and I bring the car back in for the wobble. AFter a test drive with me in the car, they see that there is a vibration not only in the steering wheel, but also in the brakes. They deduct that the rotors are warped and decide to machine them. Well, that didn't work. They try to machine them on the car- it got worse. They eventually turn them so much that they are at the minimum safe thickness and decide to order new rotors. Another trip in later and they do it. I drive home and wouldn't you know it- there's still a vibration in the wheel! SO, I bring it back again. they feel the vibration (which they obviously ignored last time or else they wouldn't have given the car back as fixed). SO they balance and rotate the tires. . . . AGAIN. And you guessed it, i find the vibration still there later. Now I bring it to the local tire shop who say the weights are too big for that size tire and that they tried, but couldn't fully balance them. Something about there being an unusual about of 'bounce' . I tell Suburban about his and now they are willing to give me new tires of my choosing. Hey now- they are now taking MY WORD about this and offing new tires? With no additional inspection? Sounds to me like they know about the tires and were trying to get away without changing them. Ok, so I do my research and find tires I want. I call my sales rep to tell him. He very quickly brushes me off because he's with a customer and gives me his email address. Sure, I'm an email kind of guy. So I immediately send an email. No response. I'm patient, he's busy, I'll give him a week.... Nothing... I email again to follow-up. Nothing. Three days later, the second email bounces back. Hmm? But not the first one. I email again from a different account, no bounce back. I call his cell to try an confirm- no answer, but I leave a message to call me back. No call back. Several days later I call again- no answer. So at this point I've had the car 3 months and I still have the same problems they said they were going to fix in the first place. I'm going to keep trying, but I'm not hopeful. I've contacted the BBB, but they've ruled in favor of the dealership because they are trying to fix the pro

DON'T BOTHER

by kba1 on 08/02/2009

I gave them a $2000 deposit with the understanding that they would get financing for me. Could not get financing, they refused to return the deposit. Called me dishonest, said I wa obligated tp purchase. I got a lawyer. After a year I got my deposit back and they paid legal fees of $4500 on top of that. They could have been decent and saved us all a lot of hassle. Do not deal with this bunch.

Worst Service Ever!

by moe10189 on 08/14/2008

To make a long story short this was one of the worst expericenes I have ever been through. I'm a college student looking for a car, so i decided to go to suburban for this kia optima that i saw online. So i go there with my parents, and to start the salesman was polite and smiling. Making bad jokes and asking us if we want coffee. (ugh). So we take the car for a ride i like it and we make a offer, we offer 6,000 on a 6,887 dollar car. The guy trys to pull out the kelly blue book value of a 2003 kia optima with the value of almost 10,000 dollars. Now I know a thing or two about kelly blue book and I know the car has to be in perfect conditon to be worth that. This car had more than 2 dings in it, and had scuffs on the inside. So i knew and my parents knew it wasnt worth 10,000 dollars. So whatever. I like to car aside from all the scuffs and put a 100 dollar deposit down...to HOLD the car. Next day i tlk to my bank and they tell me the car isnt worth that and there only giving me a little over 5,000 or the car....I call them and let them know the situation and the salesman flip on me. He was rude, yelling, swearing...and insinuated that i was a liar. I gave the phone to my mother and he proceded to yell swear and tell us we signed a contract and have to purcase the car. I stated clearly in the contract that i had 5 days to decide if i wanted the car or not. He then hung up on my mother after she asked to speak to a manager. He told her tlk to who ever the HE** u want to talk to! My mother called the manager back and he was just as rude. They refused to return my deposit, and threatend to sue me. We had to get an attorney to force them to return my deposit. This all happened less than 24 hours of me visiting the dealership! I strongly DO NOT recomend anyone to go to this dealership! EVER!!! ride a bike before you buy a car from these guys! PLEASE!!!

Thank god I walked away.

by dmanssti on 11/04/2007

Let me start by saying that I love my subaru.( Bought at Mitchell Subaru in Canton, CT) I had been to Suburban Subaru before and just did not like the atmosphere at all. The sales guys there are [violative content deleted]. The fact that I had my own funding really bothered them. Any way I saw a car that I liked and it was used. Everything was fine until I noticed that the rims were rusting through and when applying the brakes the car pulled to the right. The plastics inside were falling off and the passenger door would not lock. They said they would fix these items. When asking them what they would give me my truck they started pointing out all the defects wrong with it and gave me a price(Low balling) So when I proceeded to tell them all the things that was wrong with their car the salesman started getting very offensive and acted like a child. He then proceeded to ask me to offer him a price and when I did he got up crossed his arms, huffed and puffed and sat at another table!!! Should have seen his face when I took out comparisons of the same car with less miles and a better warranty from other dealerships!! He could not handle it and left. I ended up talking to the floor manager and he actually worked with me.The only mature person I spoke to there that evening. (I would not recomend Subburban Subaru) unless you want to pay to much for a Subaru. I went to Mitchell Subaru in Canton, CT and had absolutely no issues. I do not understand why they keep hiring these shady sales guys. I had to walk away!! 3 Days later the sales guy had the nerve to call me!! and asked if I had bought a car yet!!
