Very Dishonest Dealership

by Mark29587 on 09/19/2013

We had a used car for sale on Craigslist, and we started getting a number of very odd calls from someone who just didn't sound right - he kept telling us he was "going to make us a really great deal," and that he "really needed this car," which he hadn't even laid eyes on yet. He asked us to drive the car to this dealership, which was about an hour away from our house, so his "friend" Tony D (who was supposedly a mechanic at Courtesy) could look it over for him. Then he said that he himself wouldn't be there, because he had to take his mother to the doctor. Tony would just look the car over for him, and then he was vague about what was supposed to happen next. It all sounded very suspicious, and I finally got the guy to admit that Tony (who was actually a salesman, not a mechanic) was paying him to trick Craigslist sellers into bringing their car in so he could make them a lowball offer on it. If this is the way Courtesy Acura does business, how can you trust anything they say when you're buying a car from them? Very bad way to do business.

Best car buying experience of life

by slimthistle on 08/27/2008

i cannot believe the last post i just read! courtesy gave me the best deal i could find anywhere! the lowest payments, the salespeople, and management were wonderful. when i left i even checked with the better business bureau after my purchase and just like my salesman told me they are ranked number 1. anyway i hope this review was helpful and i will continue to take my business to courtesy.

Their prices are WAY above book value

by chxfryer on 10/05/2007

I was interested in a '03 Honda Accord V6. I gave them the keys to my car to find out what I could get for a trade in at this point. After a test drive I wanted to see what the payments would be. About 10 minutes later, my sales person came back and said they wanted $19,900 for the car and monthly payments of $450. I said I can't do that. So they tried to get me to add more months the loan to decrease the payment amount. Finally, I was fed up and asked for my keys back. My sales person did not bring my keys to me, he brought a "lot manager". He asked what he could do to sale me the car? I said nothing, I am not paying 20,000 dollars for a 5 year old car. After a while he brought the price down to around 17,000 dollars. I said I would have to go home and check a few things (insurance, budget, what not). He did let me take the car for a couple hours even though a different salesman was "demoing" it. At home I did a kbb price check on the car, in perfect condition it was worth $16,900. This was a nice car, but not in the excellent category. So, I decided to return the car right then and there. When I got back, he wouldn't give me my keys back till I told him why I didn't want the car. I didn't want to say anything but he forced me into it. I told him I didn't appreciate him trying to rip me off. He went back to his office, came back with his kbb price check and my keys. His said it was worth 16,500 dollars, but tacked on was about 15 hundred dollar "reconditioning fee" a "millage adjustment" charge and some other obscene charge. I took my keys and left, NEVER to return. I mean come on, the car was worth less than $16k in its condition, they wanted 19.9k? Plus they charge the customer just to get the car close to the excellent category? By the way, those cars you see on tv, the $79 down, $149 a month, those are real and there. Just you have to have a credit score of 800 to get those prices. This came straight from the salesman's mouth. Want a car? Go some where else and do your home work before buying!
